The game's art direction is amazing. The demo is on PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Marketplace now. Go grab it.

The game has a really refreshing concept. It's basically a first person running game. There is an achievement (maybe a trophy too in the PS3 version) for going through the entire game without shooting a gun. That's how it's meant to be played. Think of yourself as one of the people in the Matrix and the cops in the game as the Agents. You are supposed to RUN when you see them. The game is all about flow and rhythm. Watch a trailer and see what I'm talking about:

I haven't played the demo yet, but after reading the article from the EGM, I'm really looking forwards to trying it out. The all consuming question is do I have time to play it ?_?

The demo is fantastic, and even better then the game play is how amazing this game looks. All the clean white and the general art style really reminds me of Portal.

Played the Demo today, it looks amazing and plays great. Sadly i'm not sure if time will allow me to play this game considering the insane amount of games i'm playing / going to be playing. If I can ill fit it in.

This does look pretty awesome. I'll probably play it on my friends PS3/360 if he gets it.

the Demo is pretty hot but i wont be buying it soon because im going to get GoW 2 for now :( oh and i loved the gameplay and graphics even though its a but hard to get used to but overall the game is bomb

i saw a couple of screenshots for this game a while back, and it looked pretty dammn interesting. Im curious, is it all first person view, or can you move back?
definitley buy this when its out.

Well the reviews for this game are now up on most sites, and the general consensus is that while the game play is new and refreshing and the graphics great, the game is just too short with little to do after finishing the short campaign (I've heard 6 hours). There were some other positives and negatives, but those were the main points for me.

I said to myself if this gets above a 9 on Ign i'll consider it, but a 7.4(PS3), is nowhere near what I had expected. So it looks like I'll just get Fallout 3 instead.

Hopefully Mirrors Edge will have a stunning sequel, that addresses the current problems, but until then its just a cool concept that missed a few key points, and just is not worth dropping 60$ on in my opinion.

I just picked it up. Length is good for me as I like short games. 1up gave it an A- although I don't care about reviews. The thing to do after beating the game is time trials actually. Quite a bit of replay value on it. I'll give impressions once I play it a bit!

I am thinking I will rent this to be honest. I actually thought it would get better than 9.0 on IGN, and 7.4 is discouraging.

After playing the demo I definitely want to play through it, but maybe not own the game.

I don't get it. So you liked the demo but because somebody else has a different opinion on the game you're not longer interested? Seems kind of weird to me.

Just played up to the end of Chapter 2 and pretty good so far. Feel really good when you get that flow going, but can be frustrating when you fail a lot. The game doesn't hurt my eyes like it did when I played the demo. Guess it really is better when you don't play it first thing in the morning!

Well I trust IGN, their initial opinion of the demo and the opening stages of the game were positive, but apparently it has some flaws later on in the game.

Like I said, I will rent it. If it is that stupidly awesome I will buy it.

Why do you trust "IGN"? You should be trusting the reviewer. They work for the company (which brings with it its own issues), but it is the reviewer's opinion. IGN is not a person. IGN did not write the review. IGN's only power with regards to the review is incfluencing the reviewer based on advertising revenue and other pressures unrelated to the actual game.

That said, you could rent it considering it's pretty short. If you don't like time trials, it's definitely something you can beat on one sitting.

I love the game because it's like the way a Sonic game would be if Sonic Team wasn't horrible. This is more of a Sonic game than any 3D Sonic game to date. Capture the feel of the 2D titles. If they made a third person game like this with Sonic and some changes, I'd buy it Day 1. This game shouldn't be third person though.

Every reviewer at IGN has their own set of biases, you can clearly tell this from some of their reviews. While what you say may be true Firestorm, I am still inclined to agree with IGN, because of the facts presented and the fact that time after time in the past I find the way I feel about a game, and what I would rate it, to be fairly close with IGN.

Thats not to say IGN's word is law, sure I have bought a few games that IGN said were not worthy of buying, and I enjoyed them. Still everyone has their own taste, and for some(including me) the game was a maybe. It was a maybe because the demo played well, and I liked the concept, but it wasn't something that excited me. Like always its either popular opinion or nostalgia that knocks me to one side of the fence or the other. IGN's review(among others) decided it for me.

That is just because I don't have the time to play every game in the world, so sometimes, even if I could be missing out I just have to trust IGN, and what people have said and pass a game up.

Typically IGN is pretty accurate as far as I have experienced. The only game I have played that I felt didn't deserve it's rating was Kirby Squeak Squad. While short, it had quite a bit to do afterwards and the controls were top notch... but they only gave it a 7.0.

Like I said, I'm renting it. For sure. But I may not buy it if I don't love it, despite what I said earlier. Demos are free, but games are like 60$. I'm a poor college student, I can't buy just ANY game, it has to be really good or the money was better spent on food or clothes.

I understand, but what I'm saying is IGN has no opinion. It's an editor at IGN that has an opinion. The three reviews from IGN are 7.3, 8.3, and 8.5. So do you identify with Nate Ahearn, Martin Robinson, or Cam Shea?

I see your point, and usually in a case where a game gets such conflicting reviews by the three, then my decision is harder to make. But like I said it was just the pure facts of the review not so much the score that decided it for me. I would have to say after reading IGN US's review I thought they would have given it an 8.0-8.5, when I saw 7.3/7.4, I did not agree with it. Nonetheless no one of the scores ever really met my expectations, and maybe if this game hadn't been one of two games, in which I was only going to get one, compared on their scores I might have gotten it. But the game I was going to get if this game didn't get above a 9.0, was Fallout 3, which landed a 9.6 on IGN, 8.8 on IGN UK, and 9.5 on AU.

Needless to say, I want to play Mirror's edge, but seeing as this is the single biggest gaming season I have seen in a while, I can't buy everything.
As it is right now I'm purchasing/ getting for christmas a PS3, MGS4, LBP, GoW2, and Castlevania Order of Ecclesia. So Mirrors edge is just going to have to be a rental.

Why is the name of the game so stupid? "Mirror's Edge" ? Think about what that means...

They justified it in the story which I hated. I hate when games and movies drop the name of the game/movie to make it seem sensible. They've been going with the cracked mirrors theme for a while now though when showing off the game.

Maybe I'm just used to this crap. Infinite Undiscovery anyone?
