Some warstory vs. ghost17

Here is a Shoddy match that I recently had. It was a lot of fun to play, and though it wasn't very close in terms of numbers, it was pretty intense I thought. These were the rules:

ShoddyBattle Ladder Match
Sleep Clause
Freeze Clause
OHKO Clause
Double Team Clause
Species Clause
Strict Damage Clause

Here are the teams: (normally I'd post sprites but the site I get them from is down right now)

-Flygon
-Forretress
-Alakazam
-Blissey
-Dusknoir
-Empoleon

And let the match begin! (OMG, that sounded corny)

ghost17 sent out Flygon.
Blaziken_57 sent out Crobat.
Blaziken_57 switched in Metagross.
Flygon used Rock Slide.
It's not very effective...
Metagross lost 11% of its health.

I knew that most Flygon, especially leading ones, were Mixed and Scarf'd, and I didn't Hypnosis for fear of Draco Meteor. This switch worked conveniently.

ghost17 switched in Forretress.
Metagross used Meteor Mash.
It's not very effective...
Forretress lost 25% of its health.
Forretress's leftovers restored HP.

I was just testing the waters. Unfortunately, Forretress walls my Metagross completely, and now he gets free Spikes.

Blaziken_57 switched in Crobat.
Forretress used Stealth Rock.
Forretress's leftovers restored HP.

I saw the passive Forry as a chance to bring in Crobat. Also, since he used Stealth Rock, it's safe to assume that he doesn't have a bulky ground-type like Swampert, or else he would have used Toxic Spikes or something.

ghost17 switched in Flygon.
Crobat used Hypnosis.
Crobat's attack missed!

At this point I got gutsy, and predicted that HE'd predict another Metagross switch, and thus would use Earthquake. I really wanted something snoozing.

Crobat used Hypnosis.
Flygon fell asleep!
Flygon is fast asleep!

Woah, it's not even Scarf, I guess I didn't have to "predict" anything. I'll bet its Choice Banded.

ghost17 switched in Forretress.
Crobat used U-turn.
It's not very effective...
Forretress lost 5% of its health.
Blaziken_57 switched in Mesprit.
Mesprit is hurt by Stealth Rocks.
Mesprit's leftovers restored HP.
Forretress's leftovers restored HP.

Here is where I noticed that I was walled by Forry almost completely. At this point there was nothing I could do but bluff Calm Mind, and hopefully force it out.

Mesprit used Thunderbolt.
A critical hit!
Forretress lost 62% of its health.
Forretress used Spikes.
Mesprit's leftovers restored HP.
Forretress's leftovers restored HP.

Wow, for a crit that did nothing. Oh well, if my approximate calculations are right, this next one should KO.

ghost17 switched in Alakazam (lvl 100 Alakazam ?).
Mesprit used Thunderbolt.
Alakazam lost 37% of its health.
Mesprit's leftovers restored HP.

Alakazam, huh? Trickspecs wouldn't be terrible for Mesprit, and not even Shadow Ball will KO at full health, so I'm going to finish it off with U-Turn.

Alakazam used Shadow Ball.
It's super effective!
Mesprit lost 78% of its health.
Mesprit used U-turn.
It's super effective!
Alakazam lost 63% of its health.
ghost17's Alakazam fainted.
Blaziken_57 switched in Porygon-z.
Porygon-z was hurt by Stealth Rocks.
Porygon-z was hurt by Spikes
ghost17 switched in Blissey.

6-5 Blaziken

Blissey came in to force me out, but I didn't care.

Blaziken_57 switched in Drapion.
Drapion was hurt by Spikes/Stealth Rocks.
Blissey used Aromatherapy.
Drapion's leftovers restored HP.

I didn't know people still used Cleric Blissey, despite how common sleepers are. I still find them helpful, and I guess someone agrees with me.At this point I tried forcing it out with Drapion.

ghost17 switched in Dusknoir.
Dusknoir is exerting its pressure!
Drapion used Swords Dance.
Drapion's attack was sharply raised.
Drapion's leftovers restored HP.

Interesting tactic, sending a Dark-weak Poke out against a Dark-type, but I guess he predicted Brick Break and wanted to Wisp me. I'm fairly certain I won't OHKO, but it's an easy 2HKO.

Drapion used Night Slash.
It's super effective!
Dusknoir lost 86% of its health.
Dusknoir used Will-o-wisp.
Drapion was burned!
Drapion was hurt by its burn!
Drapion's leftovers restored HP.
Dusknoir's leftovers restored HP.

Right now I'm at neutral attack. I probably should have Swords Danced again, knowing he would switch, but oh well.

ghost17 switched in Empoleon.
Drapion used Night Slash.
It's not very effective...
Empoleon lost 12% of its health.
Drapion was hurt by its burn!
Drapion's leftovers restored HP.
Empoleon's leftovers restored HP.

I see the tactic, switch between a Dark resist and a Fighting immunity to slowly stall out my Burn. Unfortunately, this time I mispredicted.

Drapion used Swords Dance.
Drapion's attack was sharply raised.
Empoleon used Surf.
Drapion lost 48% of its health.
Drapion was hurt by its burn!
Drapion's leftovers restored HP.
Empoleon's leftovers restored HP.

I was so sure he'd switch it out, since I have Brick Break.

Empoleon used Protect.
Empoleon protected itself!
Drapion used Brick Break.
Empoleon protected itself!
Drapion's leftovers restored its health a little!
Drapion restored 6% of its health.
Drapion was hurt by its burn!
Drapion lost 12% of its health.

At this point, I was playing like a complete sucker, doing exactly the wrong moves at exactly the wrong time, being easily out-predicted. This next move proves that.

ghost17 switched in Dusknoir (lvl 100 Dusknoir ?).
Dusknoir is exerting its pressure!
Drapion used Brick Break.
It doesn't affect Dusknoir...
Drapion was hurt by its burn!
Drapion's leftovers restored HP.
Dusknoir's leftovers restored HP.

Duh, I KNEW he'd do that! Man, I've got to get back in the game here. I've got to smash that stupid penguin with my Swords Dance'd Brick Break.

ghost17 switched in Empoleon.
Drapion used Brick Break.
It's super effective!
Empoleon lost 50% of its health.
Drapion was hurt by its burn!
Drapion's leftovers restored HP.
Empoleon's leftovers restored HP.

At this point, I am dead, because he can Protect while I die to Burn, or else I can switch out and die on the switch-in to Stealth Rocks.

Empoleon used Protect.
Empoleon protected itself!
Drapion used Brick Break.
Empoleon protected itself!
Drapion was hurt by its burn!
Blaziken_57's Drapion fainted.
Empoleon's leftovers restored its HP.
Blaziken_57 switched in Porygon-z.
Porygon-z was hurt by Spikes/Stealth Rocks!

5-5

Now it's time to Plot up before blasting the "unbreakable wall" with Life Orb Adapatability Nasty Plot Porygon-Z Tri Attack! (You thought I'd say Hyper Beam, didn't you?)

ghost17 switched in Blissey.
Porygon-z used Nasty Plot.
Porygon-z's special attack was sharply raised.

Let's see if I 2HKO.

Porygon-z used Tri Attack.
Blissey lost 54% of its health.
Blissey was burned!
Porygon-z lost 10% of its health.
Blissey used Seismic Toss.
Porygonz lost 32% of its health.
Blissey's leftovers restored HP.
Blissey was hurt by its burn!

At this point, I was fairly certain Dusknoir would come in to absorb another Tri-Attack, but if I mis-predicted with Dark Pulse, I would kill myself with Life Orb while Blissey survived. So I went with the safer choice.

ghost17 switched in Dusknoir.
Dusknoir is exerting its pressure!
Porygon-z used Tri Attack.
It doesn't affect Dusknoir...
Dusknoir's leftovers restored HP.

Well, if I can't kill Blissey, this will have to do

Porygon-z used Dark Pulse.
It's super effective!
Dusknoir lost 32% of its health.
ghost17's Dusknoir fainted.
Porygonz lost 8% of its health.
Blaziken_57's Porygon-z fainted.
ghost17 switched in Flygon.
Blaziken_57 switched in Crobat.
Crobat was hurt by Stealth Rocks.

4-4

I think Crobat was a fairly obvious switch-in, since I outspeed his whole team now and sleep clause isn't activated.

ghost17 switched in Empoleon.
Crobat used Hypnosis.
Empoleon fell asleep!
Crobat's Black Sludge restored HP.
Empoleon's leftovers restored HP.

That was unexpected, but whatever. I still get to put stuff to sleep.

ghost17 switched in Forretress.
Crobat used U-turn.
It's not very effective...
Forretress lost 5% of its health.
Blaziken_57 switched in Metagross.
Metagross was hurt by Spikes/Stealth Rocks.
Forretress's leftovers restored HP.

Again with the Forretress. At this point I can only assume a Choice Banded Earthquake will kill, and I don't care if he sends out Flygon or not. Also, at this point I am removing Spikes and Stealth Rocks form the script, so keep those in mind when I switch in.

Metagross used Earthquake.
Forretress lost 31% of its health.
Forretress used Gyro Ball.
It's not very effective...
Metagross lost 4% of its health.
Forretress's leftovers restored HP.

Argh, so close. He had 3% left, then with Leftovers he ended up with 9%. Now Flygon is DEFINITELY coming in, so I bring in Swampert.

ghost17 switched in Flygon.
Blaziken_57 switched in Swampert.
Swampert's leftovers restored HP.

Unfortunately, I don't have Ice Beam or Avalanche, but Waterfall seems strong enough against a frail thing like Flygon.

Flygon used U-turn.
Swampert lost 19% of its health.
ghost17 switched in Forretress.
Swampert used Waterfall.
Forretress lost 9% of its health.
ghost17's Forretress fainted.
Swampert's leftovers restored HP.
ghost17 switched in Flygon.

4-3 Blaziken

FINALLY, now I don't have to worry about my switching as much, as he can't set up more Spikes. The unfortunate thing is that he still hasEmpoleon to sponge my Metagross's Meteor Mashes.

Flygon used Earthquake.
Swampert lost 43% of its health.
Swampert used Waterfall.
Flygon lost 63% of its health.
Swampert's leftovers restored HP

At this point I am in KO range for his Earthquake, so I switch to other physical tank, who happens to have an immunity.

Blaziken_57 switched in Mesprit.
Flygon used Earthquake.
It doesn't affect Mesprit...
Mesprit's leftovers restored HP.

Since I am pretty certain he is Choice Banded, I U-Turn, knowing he will switch, instead of Ice Beam.

ghost17 switched in Empoleon.
Mesprit used U-turn.
It's not very effective...
A critical hit!
Empoleon lost 12% of its health.
Blaziken_57 switched in Swampert.
---
Swampert's leftovers restored HP.
Empoleon's leftovers restored HP.

I see this as an oppurtunity to heal my near-dead Swampert.

ghost17 switched in Blissey.
Swampert used Rest.
Swampert fell asleep!
Swampert restored 75% of its health.
Blissey's leftovers restored HP.

This is an opportunity to bring in Metagross, I just have to make sure she's using Softboiled.

Swampert used Sleep Talk.
Swampert used Earthquake.
Blissey lost 39% of its health.
Blissey used Softboiled.
Blissey restored 50% of its health.
Blissey's leftovers restored HP.

I could try and wake up my sleeping Swampert, but I could Sleep Talk Rest, in which case she'd be full-health and I'd have to bring my Metagross in on a Seismic Toss, which I really didn't want to do.

Blaziken_57 switched in Metagross.
Blissey used Softboiled.
Blissey restored 37% of its health.

Metagross used Earthquake.
Blissey lost 60% of its health.
Blissey used Seismic Toss.
Metagross lost 28% of its health.
Blissey's leftovers restored HP.

Man, I was so SURE he'd send in Empoleon. Did he really think his Blissey was that indispensible? I might as well send in Swampert to counter his Flygon switch-in.

ghost17 switched in Flygon.
Blaziken_57 switched in Swampert.
Swampert's leftovers restored HP.

I hope I get lucky with Sleep Talk.

Flygon used U-turn.
Swampert lost 19% of its health.
ghost17 switched in Empoleon.
Swampert used Sleep Talk.
Swampert used Rest.
But it failed!
Empoleon's leftovers restored HP.
Swampert's leftovers restored HP.

Hm, I guess he's sacrificing his Empoleon.

Empoleon is fast asleep!
Swampert woke up!
Swampert used Earthquake.
It's super effective!
Empoleon lost 61% of its health.
Swampert's leftovers restored HP.
Empoleon's leftovers restored HP.

I think now would be a good time to kill the incoming Flygon. I just hope that he doesn't keep Empoleon in, who then survives, wakes up, and Grass Knots me.

ghost17 switched in Flygon.
Swampert used Waterfall.
Flygon lost 37% of its health.
ghost17's Flygon fainted.
Swampert's leftovers restored HP.
ghost17 switched in Empoleon (lvl 100 Empoleon ?).

4-2 Blaziken

Now I have twice the Pokes he does, and complete advantage. Empoleon dies here obviously, and Blissey can be stalled out.

Empoleon is fast asleep!
Swampert used Earthquake.
It's super effective!
Empoleon lost 15% of its health.
ghost17's Empoleon fainted.
Swampert's leftovers restored HP
ghost17 switched in Blissey (lvl 100 Blissey ?).

4-1 Blaziken

What I need to do is stall Blissey out of Softboileds, by repeatedly Earthquaking her. Then, if she kills Swampert, I send in Crobat, sleep her then stall some more, and "batter" her with Aerial Ace until she's running low on PP. Then send in Metagross as a last-ditch effort, and Explode.

But there was no need to, as precisely ten turns later, Blissey finally succumbed to the mighty Swampert.

Blaziken_57 wins!

Props:
ghost17 for giving me a fun match
Swampert for taking out 2/3 of the opposing team
Porygon-Z for killing Dusknoir and taking a nice chunk out of Blissey
Mesprit for crippling Forretress and killing Alakazam
Crobat for sleeping things as usual, giving me oppurtunities to set up

Slops:
Drapion for setting up but not even taking out one Poke
Metagross for not being as helpful as he usually is
Forretress for setting up the Rocks and Spikes that hurt my switching
Me for totally blowing it when handling Drapion

Morals:
Don’t get predictable; it’s vague but true
Swampert still functions well, despite Grass Knot
I'm loving Porygon-Z more and more, both Choice Scarf and Nasty Plot

Hope you enjoyed reading it. (You'd netter have, because it was a pain in the ass to format)

Discuss.

Good warstory. Props to Crobat, Mespirit, and Drapion. =)
Indeed. Mesprit is just awesome for Garchomp, Gyarados, and Infernape countering abilities, and had U-Turn to escape Weavile unlike some Psychic-types (Starmie, I'm looking at you). I chose Drapion, because I needed someone in my last slot that had good offense, but I also chose it because of its good Defense and ability to come in on Tyranitar's Crunch. And Crobat is just plain annoying =P

Thanks for reading, I'm glad you liked it. I know there has been a lot of warstories lately, oh well =P

The match was ok, good job.

Though you could make it look alot better at the top of the thread. You know, with colours and pictures, that keeps the reader going if there's a good intro.

Not great, not bad...
I prefer warstorys that have more suspense, it was pretty obvious that this was going to go to you about half way in. It was a little too One-Sided IMO.

Good Warstory, though it'd be good if you put the amount of HP each pokemon had after a turn. The commentary was good and the battle had some pretty good prediction on both parts.

Props on Drapion, i've been trying to fit one in my Team, but i always seem to have an abundance of Physical sweepers and can never find a place.

Good game and Good warstory.

I'll put them in now. When I made this, the site was down, so I just listed them.

Decent battle and a great lineup of pokemon. Especially love the Drapion and Crobat use. Your opponent has trouble with Swampert though. Alakazam probably has energy ball but can't come in on Swampert. His Flygon isn't special so lacks Grass Knot and Draco meteor to nail Swampert. Empoleon is probably his best bet but it still risks getting hit by earthquake when coming in.

Well, he DOES have Dusknoir who can come in easily and Will-o-Wisp it... But thanks for reading.

I thought the commentary was good, but the story was a little one-sided. Good job overall, but what was with playing without sleep clause? You could have just dominated his entire team with crobat's hypnosis if you wanted to...

Actually, sleep clause was activated. His Blissey was an Aroma the rapist, so he cured Flygon's sleep before I put Empoleon to sleep. Yeah, it took me a couple re-reads to figure than one out.
