Song of Storms

Alright, this is my first RMT, so bear with me here. I have done many battles with this team, and about 2/3rds of them are wins. The team has not changed at all. so here goes

186.png

Gekko (Politoed)@Leftovers
Ability:Drizzle
EVs: 252 HP/ 252 SpD/ 4 SpA
Nature: calm
Hydro Pump
Ice beam
Perish song
Protect

Pretty obvious, need to set up rain. Moveset allows it to KO some dragons and Ninetails aiming a solarbeam at ferrothorn. Perish song puts a timer on some set-up sweepers, and Protect for scouting/stalling.

Shell Blade (Starmie)@ Expert belt
Ability: Natural cure
EVs: 4 HP/ 252 SpA/ 252 Spe
Nature: Modest
Rapid Spin
Thunder
Ice Beam
Recover

Spinner/ special sweeper. It has the infamous BoltBeam combo with Thunder instead of Tbolt. recover allows it to, well, recover. Nothing else needs to be said, except that expert belt allows me to fake a choice set.

Keese(Tornadus-T)@ Life Orb
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 4 Atk/ 252 SpA/ 252 Spe
Nature: Hasty
Hurricane
Heat wave
U-turn
Superpower

I do believe that this is the standard set for Tornadus-t. Or at least its the only one I see. Hurricane obligitory STAB. Heat wave hits ferro and Foretress hard, even in rain. U-turn lets me switch while keeping regenerator going, and superpower wrecks Blissey.

Bari (Jellicent)@ Leftovers
EVs: 252 HP/ 4 def/ 252 Spd
Nature: Calm
Toxic
Recover
Scald
Shadow Ball

Spinblocker/ status inducer. It toxics all things, Blocks Rapid spin, and can scald all other things. Fun fact, Bari survived a Critical hit thunder off of what my friend told me was a modest, scarfed Magnezone, 252 EVs in SpA, with 12 HP, then crited with scald, brought him down to about 40 HP, and then burned him, KOing the magnezone. Yeah

scizor_by_llamablaster.jpg

Gohma (Scizor)@ Choice Band
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 HP/ 252 Atk/ 4 SpD
Nature: Adamant
Bullet Punch
U-turn
Pursuit
Superpower

Ok. Standard Scizor set. Hits like a truck. Instead of explaining what it does, I will say why its there, and what it has done for me. It is my only Phisical attacker, and here's the story. Showdown tournement double ellimenation finals. Scizors all I have left, and I KO his second-to-last Poke. He pulls out intimidate Salamence. I bullet puch, since thats what I'm locked into. Thank GOD the rain was up, for he Fire blasted me. I survive with 3% HP, and KO with Bullet Punch.

Like Like( Ferrothorn)@ Lum berry
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 4 HP/ 252 Def/ 252 SpD
Nature: Impish
Power whip
leech seed
Stealth rock
Spikes

OK, lets get started. First of all, Ferrothorn is amazing. Maxed out defenses, and it doesnt DIE. Sets up entry Hazards, leech seeds all things, and gets out. Now I need to explain Lum Berry. I used to have leftovers, but spore Breloom kept Pissing me off, so I need Lum so I wouldn't be destroyed.

Thank you for reading this, please feel free to criticize the team, I am open to all questions. I hope you enjoyed the pics too. Real quick, sorry about the size of the Starmie pic Ta-ta for now.

Hello bud,

This looks to be a good rain team but there are changes that need to be made to optimize the team. I'll go in order of each Pokemon that needs to be changed.

Politoed is much better off running a Physically Defensive set, as it now has a better chance against dragons like Salamence and Dragonite, as well as holding off boosting physical threats so it can get off a Perish Song. The moveset choice of Hydro Pump over Scald is always a yours to make, but I would advise using Scald just for the burn chance, very helpful for someone that has to take physical hits.

Starmie pretty much needs to be running a Timid Nature, running Modest is practically a sin considering its base 115 speed. With Thunder, you retain the ability to 2HKO Jellicent, your primary obstacle in terms of spinning away hazards. I also strongly suggest that you replace Recover with Psyshock, as currently a Calm Mind Keldeo, among other threats, really bring the hurt to your team. Sure, you miss the longevity, but now your team has a much stronger ability to check offensive threats, as well as get past Tentacruel and Amoonguss faster.

Tornadus and Jellicent look pretty good.

Scizor's optimal EV spreads looks along the lines of 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD, this provides for a Stealth Rock number with HP, but you can also change Special Defense to Speed if you want to outspeed fellow Scizor and kill them first with Superpower assuming they have some residual damage on board.

You addressed in your description of Ferrothorn that you started running Lum Berry to better deal with Breloom's Spore, but I'm not sure I get this as your only attacking move is a not-very-effective Power Whip. Change his item back to Leftovers. I like how you use Ferrothorn as a mixed wall using leech seed, I'm not exactly sure that its the best move mathematically in terms of defense, but it's creative and fun and I'm all for that.

You still have 2 good checks to Breloom in Tornadus and Starmie, if you are very concerned about Breloom you can run Sleep Talk on Tornadus over U-Turn to pretty much guarantee that Breloom will be taking a lot of damage, if not being OHKOed should Hurricane be chosen. Keep in mind that this has the cost of removing the great benefits that U-Turn offers.

Well, hope I helped, good luck!

Sets and Changes Summary

Thanks

Thank you for the suggestions. However I will say this. On Politoed, I find that dragons have a hard time with my team as it is. Ferrothorn hurts them with Iron barbs, scizor does massive damage, and two guys ice beam. Starmies modest alowed me to kill a Dragonite with stealth rock damage once. I ran calcs and I can Ohko to 2hko all common dragons while still outrunning all of them unboosted. I accept psyshock over recover. And thanks for the better EV spread on Scizor. Now, all ferrothorn needs to do is get rocks up, and wall dragons not carrying fire. Therefore, i find it better to use lum berry to get rocks up. One more thing, without recover on Starmie, how do you expect me to heal Starmie after Stealth Rock and Spikes? He is my spinner primarily, after all.

Well thank you for the help.
