Punk Rock and excellent Special Attack make Choice Specs Toxtricity a potent special wallbreaker. Boomburst is Toxtricity's strongest move and has solid neutral coverage, and it's even powerful enough to 2HKO Bisharp after Stealth Rock damage. Overdrive nails Empoleon and hits other Pokemon resistant or immune to Normal, such as Registeel, Jirachi, and Gengar. Boomburst and Overdrive hit through Substitute, which comes in handy against foes like Suicune and Raikou. Sludge Bomb hits Gardevoir for decent damage, which helps if Gardevoir has copied Punk Rock with Trace, and it's also a big hit against Wo-Chien. Snarl is an alternative that hits Golurk and Palossand super effectively, and it still 2HKOes Jirachi and Choice Specs Magnezone after Stealth Rock damage. Volt Switch helps Toxtricity keep up momentum and chip away at switch-ins like Hisuian Goodra until they're weak enough to overwhelm. Tera Normal turns Boomburst's power up to eleven, 2HKOing even Rhyperior, bulky Jirachi, and Choice Specs Hisuian Goodra. Tera Normal can also be situationally useful defensively against Mimikyu and Hisuian Zoroark, but it otherwise provides little defensive value.
Toxtricity's amazing power makes it a good fit as a high-maintenance wallbreaker. Pivots like Galarian Zapdos, Slither Wing, and Jirachi excel at positioning Toxtricity, and Toxtricity can blow past physical walls like Hippowdon, Galarian Weezing, and Slowbro for these Pokemon. Slow pivots like Empoleon can get Toxtricity in with a free switch. Toxtricity's own ability to keep up momentum with Volt Switch makes it a hit on pivot-heavy VoltTurn teams. Ground- and Fighting-types like Krookodile and Terrakion can tear apart Hisuian Goodra and Rhyperior for Toxtricity. Defensive Pokemon like Slowbro and Galarian Weezing can switch into faster, physically offensive threats like Galarian Zapdos, Krookodile, and Flygon for Toxtricity, while specially defensive Pokemon like Cyclizar and Hisuian Goodra can intercept Hisuian Zoroark and Basculegion-F. Entry hazards from setters like Rhyperior, Registeel, and Terrakion wear down potential checks like Umbreon and Assault Vest Cyclizar.
