Whimsicott holds a niche in PU as a speedy special attacker thanks to its rare Fairy typing and access to disruptive utility options, with its spammable Moonblast and ability to ignore Substitutes thanks to Infiltrator giving it an edge over alternatives such as Florges and Scream Tail. Choice Specs bolsters Whimsicott's rather unimpressive Special Attack, allowing it to put its fearsome STAB combination to great use. Shadow Ball nails Delphox and Bronzong for super effective damage while also dealing slightly more than Moonblast against Copperajah and Alolan Sandslash. Psychic is also an option to hit Poison-types like Toxtricity, Salazzle, and Venusaur, but does make Whimsicott entirely helpless against Delphox and the aforementioned Steel-types. Switcheroo allows Whimsicott to cripple bulkier foes that would attempt to switch into it such as Galarian Slowbro, Coalossal, and Copperajah, while U-turn capitalizes on its high Speed and allows it to function as a pivot. Prankster should only be used with Switcheroo as Whimsicott does not run any status moves otherwise. Tera Fairy allows Whimsicott to shore up its defensive profile, removing its weaknesses to Fire and Ice, while also providing an extra burst of power to Moonblast, being able to OHKO Goodra after Stealth Rock. However, it should be used with caution, as shedding its Grass typing does cause Whimsicott to lose its resistance to Water and its immunity to Leech Seed.

Whimsicott largely finds itself on teams in need of a Fairy-type in situations where Florges and Scream Tail would not be appropriate choices or there is a need for extra pivots or disruption options. Thanks to its Speed and its resistance to Water, Whimsicott can effectively deal with foes such as Paldean Tauros-W and Bruxish, preventing them from safely claiming multiple KOs. However, even with Choice Specs, Whimsicott's lack of immediate power is notable, so it is best used to whittle down foes without reliable recovery options such as Wo-Chien and Mudsdale or to disrupt passive Pokemon such as Altaria, allowing teammates like Scrafty and Toxtricity to win the game with ease. Switcheroo can also be used to flip the script on Pokemon that would normally function as solid checks to Whimsicott, such as Copperajah, severely lowering the threat they pose to the rest of the team. However, while Switcheroo is effective at limiting foes, it is held back due to being a one-time use and massively cutting Whimsicott's attacking power, meaning that Whimsicott will often find itself relying on teammates to deal with its checks as many of them find it relatively easy to shut out after its Choice Specs have been swapped away. Furthermore, even with Choice Specs, Whimsicott finds itself largely unable to deal with most of the tier's Fire-types, and relies heavily on teammates such as Coalossal, Milotic, and Paldean Tauros-W to keep them at bay. Pokemon like Choice Specs Goodra, Meloetta, and the Paldean Tauros formes appreciate Whimsicott's ability to pivot them in with U-turn and facilitate them doing high amounts of damage, and this also allows Whimsicott to form an effective core with slower pivots such as Bellibolt and Gligar. However, this does further underscore Whimsicott's reliance on its teammates to effectively deal with its checks.

Whimsicott holds a niche in PU as a speedy special attacker thanks to its rare Fairy typing and access to disruptive utility options. (I would probably mention how the stab combination esp w super spammable mooblast, speed + the utility options are generally how whimsicott finds a place on teams over other options like scream tail or fllorges.) Choice Specs bolsters Whimsicott's rather unimpressive Special Attack, allowing it to put its fearsome STAB combination to great use. Moonblast allows it to threaten foes such as Wo-Chien and Goodra, while Energy Ball can dispatch opposing Gastrodon and Mudsdale. (Stabs don't need to be explained.) Shadow Ball nails Delphox and Bronzong for super effective damage while also dealing slightly more than Moonblast against Copperajah and Alolan Sandslash. Psychic is also an option to hit Poison-types like Toxtricity, Salazzle, and Venusaur, but does make Whimsicott entirely helpless against Delphox and the aforementioned Steel-types. Prankster should only be used with Switcheroo as Whimsicott does not run any status moves otherwise. (Mention how infiltrator allows it to do revenge subbed sweepers like Bulls.) Tera Fairy allows Whimsicott to shore up its defensive profile while also providing an extra burst of power to Moonblast, being able to OHKO Goodra after Stealth Rock. (Mention how it removes the fire weakness and ice weakness too; this can be helpful against some threats.) However, it should be used with caution, as shedding its Grass typing does cause Whimsicott to lose its resistance to Water and its immunity to Leech Seed.

(You for sure want to mention how whimsicott reallyyyyyyyy likes having Pokemon llike Coal, Milo and Wetbull around to reliably check and beat the common fire types of the tier like Delphox, other coal, and k9. Whimsicott cant do much back to these threats and really need them gone or chipped down enough that they cant reliably swap into any of its stabs anymore so it can come in and fire off a moonblast / clean up games. Also, mention how It can form solid pivot cores with slower pivots, like bellibolt, gligar, or beforementioned milo, as it really likes having them safely bring it into the battlefield.)
