Hey Smogon, it's KoneHead here with the first RMT im doing. This team as you might have noticed is built around an offensive core of Specs Salamece and LO Mamoswine and to be honest, it's probably one of the best teams I've ever made. I didn't feel like I needed a spinner on this team because matches don't usually go on for more than 20 or 25 turns, and I took the extra spot that I would've used on a spinner and replaced it with better team synergy. Now that's enough for the intro let's get into the team building.
Salamence
I knew I wanted to start the team off with Specs Salamece just because I never see it and the surprise factor makes it even more valuable than Latios in my opinion. But Salamence isn't fast enough to take on all the elite dragons of the BW metagame, so I knew I needed someone to help with that.
[pimg]478[/pimg]
Mamoswine
With a metagame dominated by fast dragons along with Thundurus-T and Landorus-T, I knew that with out Mamoswine, Salamence was a sitting duck. Mamoswine also can take less powerful Ice type attacks aimed at Salamece thanks to Thick Fat.
[pimg]669[/pimg]
Terrakion
I put Terrakion in with the Gruesome Twosome because both of them were weak to ice and rock which Terrakion can usually take and also Mamosine is good for killing dragons but he can't break walls like Terrakion can. With Most physical walls taken out by Salamence, Terrakion can take care of basically everything else, he also functions as a great revenge killer because of his high speed.
[pimg]628[/pimg]
Ferrothorn
Entry hazards are one of the most important assets to any team and this is no exception. Ferrothorn functions well as a physical wall and again patches up some of the weaknesses of the other members. I wanted Ferrothorn over Forretress because he resists rock and pairs up great with the next member of the team.
[pimg]623[/pimg]
Jellicent
Most if not every person who know what their doing in OU knows about the Ferrothorn/Jellicent Core. Together they resist every type in the game except Flying and Ground. Jellicent has reliable recovery in Recover and has a nice ability in Water Absorb, which is nice because with the right prediction, I can really take advantage of Rotom-W with the help of Mamoswine's resistance to Electric.
[pimg]609[/pimg]
Reuniclus
With my Scizor counter in Jellicent, Reuniclus is a great addition to the team because it not only can sweep late game if given the opportunity to set up, but it also acts as a secondary physical wall if something terrible happens to Ferrothorn.
THE TEAM
[pimg]373[/pimg]
Salamence @ Choice Specs
Trait: Intimidate
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Fire Blast
- Hydro Pump
- Dragon Pulse
As the leader of the team and a member of the Gruesome Twosome, SpecsMence takes out unsuspecting physical walls and slower pokes. Draco Meteor is for sheer power. Fire Blast and Hydro Pump are for coverage, and Dragon Pulse is for the occasional late-game sweep.
Kills Per Game: 1-3
[pimg]478[/pimg]
Mamoswine @ Life Orb
Trait: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Icicle Spear
- Ice Shard
- Superpower
The Second Member od the Gruesome Twosome, Mamoswine takes care of pesky dragon types along with TTar with Superpower. LO allows him to swap up moves and take out frailer pokes with priority Ice Shard.
Kills Per Game: 1-3
[pimg]669[/pimg]
Terrakion @ Choice Band
Trait: Justified
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- Stone Edge
- X-Scissor
- Quick Attack
Terrakion acts as the revenge killer and wall breaker at the same time thanks to his great speed and attack. I'm not worried about a scarfer i have 2 1/2 walls to take care of any opposing choice scarfers and setup sweepers will rarely get a chance to setup against my team, and if they do Reuniclus can take a hit and retaliate back, either OHOKing it, or bringing it down to the point where Mamoswine or Terrakion can take it out with priority.
Kills Per Game: 2-5
[pimg]628[/pimg]
Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Trait: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 176 Def / 80 SDef
Impish Nature
- Spikes
- Leech Seed
- Protect
- Power Whip
Ferrothorn sets up spikes which turns some 2HKOs into some much needed OHOKs. He can also set up Leech Seed and give a little health back to some of the other members of the team, but I rarely find a free switch to do that. He also has Protect to scout out choiced opponents.
Kills Per Game: 0-1
[pimg]623[/pimg]
Jellicent @ Leftovers
Trait: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 HP / 36 Def / 220 SDef
Calm Nature
- Recover
- Scald
- Toxic
- Shadow Ball
Jellicent has great defensive synergy with Ferrothorn and counters Scizor, who is otherwise a big problem to this team. He also has reliable recovery.
Kills Per Game: 0-1
[pimg]609[/pimg]
Reuniclus @ Leftovers
Trait: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Bold Nature
- Calm Mind
- Recover
- Psyshock
- Focus Blast
Reuniclus is a great late-game sweeper once Scizor and TTar are taken down. It can also sponge many physical hits thanks to full investment in HP and Defense.
Kills Per Game: 1-3
Well, thats my team guys. I hope you guys will give some good feedback and if you want, have fun using it yourselves!
