I thought this team was worth posting for advice because when I used it, the pokemon were all very good at setting up each other, and were versatile at when they could be used at certain times in the battle. Help?
Aerodactyl, Focus Sash, Pressure, Jolly, 4 HP / 252 ATK / 252 SPE *Lead
-Taunt
-Stealth Rock
-Earthquake
-Stone Edge
I feel that when I battle, I am always wanting to dominate - I don't want to plan out and wait for my opponent to do things on my instinct, I want to use force and aggression, my intuition coming in once this starts to fail. Obviously this is a very standard lead Aerodactyl. Nothing too special here, but keep this Aerodactyl in mind when I go on to describe the rest of my team...
Skarmory, Leftovers, Keen Eye, Impish, 252 HP / 64 ATK / 176 DEF / 16
SPE *Spiker - follow up to Aerodactyl
-Brave Bird
-Roost
-Spikes
-Whirlwind
This is where things start to get interesting. After Aerodactyl with Stealth Rocks, I prefer to further set things up with spikes. I chose the spiker Skarmory because not only is it good bait for my Electivire to come out on a motor drive, but also, in the later game, a defensive pokemon like this is a nice surprise to an opponent perceiving my aggression.
Weavile, Choice Band, Pressure, Jolly, 40 HP / 252 ATK / 216 SPE *Revenge Killer
-Pursuit
-Brick Break
-Ice Punch
-Night Slash
Since speed is a major motive on my team, and I was looking for something to take out bigger pokemon like Salamence, I chose this Weavile because of its versatility. I know there might be a better choice out there somewhere, but this is my starting idea.
Infernape, Life Orb, Blaze, Naive, 64 ATK / 252 SPA / 192 SPE *Mixed Sweeper
-Nasty Plot
-Fire Blast
-Close Combat
-Grass Knot
Obviously this Infernape is a major contributor to the aggression going on on my team, but, like Weavile, I understand that Infernape has great versatility and the "all-or-nothing" mentality I am striving for. On top of that, due to Aerodactyl, I thought in case my opponent sends out a dangerous pokemon for a backup lead choice like Skarmory, they would not be expecting an infernape, let alone one that acts as a lead but is really a mixed sweeper to intimidate.
Empoleon, Petaya Berry, Torrent, Modest, 12 HP / 252 SPA / 12 SPD /
232 SPE *Special Sweeper
-Agility
-Substitute
-Surf
-Ice Beam
I thought Empoleon was a good contrast to Infernape. On top of that, I feel it meets everything I need for a plan b. In the late game, if I am in a tight spot, I will still likely have covered most other dangerous pokemon with ape and weavile, and with 12 resistances, the speed I like, and a SPA to hammer even through Blissey eventually, this couldn't seem like a better choice for what I need. I also thought Empoleon is a nice surprise, since from what I have read, many underestimate it. I was actually considering the radical choice of using something like Floatzel - as bait for Electivire and on top of that setting up rain dance for thunderbolt with its speed, but in case I use Empoleon earlier, it is still good bait for Vire too right?
Electivire, Expert Belt, Motor Drive, Mild, 36 ATK / 252 SPA / 220 SPE
*Mixed Sweeper
-Thunderbolt
-Flamethrower
-Cross Chop
-Toxic
The mixed sweeper vire, packing a lot of danger, due to motor drive being so easy to bring out on my team because of Skarmory and Empoleon. Vire is supposed to function as a last bit of brute force and versatility I need on my team, interchangeable in this factor with Empoleon in case one or the other fails or needs to set the other up. I thought that with Ice Beam on Empoleon and Ice Punch on Weavile, I would not really need Hidden Power Ice, so I thought Toxic was a nice and effective surprise, just in case I am facing a late game blissey with seismic toss.
Thank you!
