sprite deceivers

what pokes do the sprites deceive you on size?

i always thought that salamence was much bigger, i mean 4'11'' isn't big at all, especially for the fact it's a non legendary 600 BSTer, which the rest are pretty big

Honchcrow looks bigger than it actually is, it's not even 3 feet tall, it should be like 4 feet

staraptor should be about the same size as pidgeot

hariyama looks like he's only like 5 feet tall when he's really 7 feet (he's huge...)

and that's just a small list

Roselia looks far bigger than it's meant to. In reality it's absolutely miniscule.

There's other obvious ones like Wailord doesn't look as big as it should (because they're unable to) and Natu, Diglett, etc. are bigger than they should be, again, because they'd be too small if they were to scale.

Magikarp's sprite is about half the height of Gyarados's too and other things, like Haunter is actully larger than Gengar, but its sprite is smaller.

Hariyama's 7 feet tall? Holy shit!

Something like Wailord looks small on screen, but you know it's actualy big, so it doesn't really trick you into thinking it's actually small. Then there's stuff like Roselia that you think is biggish, but even then it's really small. And Hariyama. He looks smaller than he is.

The anime isn't canon to the games.

The games are just meant to portray them, not actually put them to scale.

It's interesting, though.

i still wanna know....how does weezing only weigh 20 lbs...
Because Weezing's filled with just gases. And its skin is thin. In it's pre-evo's (Koffing's) description, it says that you can see through it to see the gases swirling inside of it if you're close enough.

Edit: Blargh he beat me to it, lol.

...Tyranitar. The PBR graphic thing makes him about as tall as my trainer is... I thought he'd be a giant, or something. =(

Regigas. It's huge. I always thought it was about the same size as the regi-trio but it's like over double their size. I saw a trailer of the upcoming DP movie and was surprised at how big it was.

Most of the final evo dragons. Sprite wise I'd expect them to tower over the average man, yet Dragonite is only 7'03", Salamence is only 4'11", Flygon is only 6'07" and Garchomp is only 6'03". Not really "towering". It's the same with TTar, who's 6'07".

Aggron (6'11"), Rhyperior (7'11") and Rhydon (6'03") I'd expect to be so big that the average man could comfortably sit on their heads, with that height that possibility seems unlikely. Rampardos (5'03") is a bit of a midget too. I'd expect him to be at least a couple of feet higher.

Relicanth is bigger than I thought, at 3'03" tall. Personally I imagined it being about the size of a salmon, only wider. Kingler is 4'03" tall, I would have expected to be able to step on that guy. Celebi is 2'00" whilst Mew and Jirachi are 1'00", Celebi is taller than I imagined, I'd expect it to be teddy-bear sized. Mew and Jirachi are about the size I expected Celebi to be.

why are pokes so small? salamence 4'11''? Wat the hell?

salamence on the show is freakin huge. dont listen to the game, it lies.

like gyrados 20 something feet really isnt that long, it's like the length of 2 cars, wow. but on the show they make him freakin huge as well.

You know, there are more to english/metric conversion than just 2.54 * inches >_>

There are 12 inches (") to a foot ('). 4' 5" means 4 feet, 5 inches.

So 4x12 == 48 inches, +5 inches which is 53 inches in total. THEN multiply by 2.54 to get 134.62 centimeters.

If thats too hard, try google. To convert 4'11" (that is, 4 feet 11 inches) to meters google this: 4 feet 11 inches to meters

Consider the target age group... Japanese pre-school age kids... so, if you think about it... they are giants

but donphan and ursurang are pretty small...

You think Roselia is small? Budew is only 8 inches.

Then you'd think Arceus is like 6-7 feet, but it's 10'6". HOLY CRAP.

And then theirs Miltoic at...20'4"? That's like more than three times as tall as me (I'm 6'3"). I mean just standing up and then imagining how big it is scares me.

Also the fact that Yanmega is just as tall as me is somewhat weird.

It's dumb, I remember in the first season of the show, they had an episode where dragonite was as tall as a light house, yet he's only 7'03"? how does that work?

that was a wierd dragonite (in that episode, Bill didn't even know what it was). Drake's dragonite looked 7 feet tall.

Arceus is suprising, but it is the god of pokemon
