Alright pals we're on to week 3. I'd like to shoutout Rabia and SHSP for setting up a thread for replays and usage stats. You'll find this week's matchups below.

Again please remember that all standard tournament rules apply. Ghosting is strictly prohibited. Replays must be posted or else your battle will be considered invalid. Since this is a team tournament, no extensions are given; substitutions are used instead of extensions. If any trade occurs this week, neither traded player will be able to participate in a battle the same week. Best of luck to all teams. Please complete your games before Sunday, December 20th at 11:59pm GMT-6.

Heyyo I'm not playing this week as I prepare to be utterly destroyed by finals.

That means...

Predictions.

Malicious Miasmaws:miasmaw: (3) vs Snake Brattlers:Malaconda: (3)
  • SS Bo3: Rabia vs velvet -- The Rabia reign of terror stops here, as velvet (insert broom)s him away.
  • SS1: Darek851 vs TJ -- TJ hasn't shown up this tourney yet, and Darek is on quite the hot streak at the moment.
  • SS2: Lasen vs Roxiee -- I think Lasen might physically injure me if I pick against him. That said, this one should be exciting at best, and extremely haxy at worst.
  • SS3: Ryan207 vs againa -- Ryan207? I'd prefer to see El Omar if I'm being honest.
  • SM1: Birkal vs Heaven Jay -- Heaven Jay should win this one pretty easily.
  • SM2: reachzero vs Granny Pie -- Reach takes his broom-related anger out on Granny Pie, making it a tie.
Astrolotl Estrellados:Astrolotl: (3) vs Sizzling Smokomodos:Smokomodo: (3)
  • SS Bo3: Binacleisthebest vs Skysolo -- Skysolo has really impressed me this tourney, so I'm calling him until he proves me wrong.
  • SS1: Sputnik vs Saladae -- I have no clue who Saladae is. Honestly sad this isn't the gf slot.
  • SS2: Gunpowder Gelatine vs Splash -- Splash should take this one home with relative ease.
  • SS3: D2TheW vs Zephyr2007 -- No offense to Zephyr, but D2 has a very real chance to absolutely rock him in this match.
  • SM1: Airwind vs Yami -- Airwind wins despite Araquanid's lack of HP.
  • SM2: Pitmore vs Jordy -- Jordy does Jordy things.
So, essentially, it's a draw and we still have no well-defined leader after this week. Have fun y'all!

  • SS Bo3: Rabia vs velvet - I don't exactly know what to expect here but I trust velvet a bit more for some reason
  • SS1: Darek851 vs TJ - Still predicting darek until he gives me a reason not to
  • SS2: Lasen vs Roxiee - I don't know why i keep predicting lasen to win but it works, be it because of the game or his skills so here we go again
  • SS3: Ryan207 vs againa - idk the other guy
  • SM1: Birkal vs Heaven Jay - Jay is back and he's thirsty for blood
  • SM2: reachzero vs Granny Pie - I still haven't figured who Granny Pie is

  • SS Bo3: Binacleisthebest vs Skysolo - Better player
  • SS1: Sputnik vs Saladae - I like eating salads, maybe sput does too
  • SS2: Gunpowder Gelatine vs Splash - Splash is doing good
  • SS3: D2TheW vs Zephyr2007 - NOOOOOOOOO this just can't be, as their Cyclohm Cup partner I must say this is the most rigged matchup I've ever seen.. It'll take a big upset for Zeph to win and he knows it, though
  • SM1: Airwind vs Yami - Tbh this could be a bad predict, idk Yami's skill too much
  • SM2: Pitmore vs Jordy - Jordy brought the ugliest team I've seen in a while last week, truly scary
Eternal Equilibras:Equilibra: (5) vs Red Hot Pyroaks:Pyroak: (1)
  • SS Bo3: The Number Man vs xavgb - If there is one rule wrt predictions, it's "don't ever predict against xavgb". The thing is I don't give a f TNM will win this in a clean 2-0
  • SS1: Averardo vs snake_rattler - Both looked really solid last week. Going snake out of guts
  • SS2: Estarossa vs K3ppr - Stronger player I believe
  • SS3: PepsiPlunge vs Akumajou - idk akumajou
  • SM1: quziel vs SunMYSER - Sun isn't in his prime ; quziel isn't either but he's stronger
  • SM2: SHSP vs GardeLame - GardeLame lost to love-blinded Airwind, so SHSP should have the upper hand
I finally predicted a win lol, I swear I wasn't trying to make every single match a tie

  • SS Bo3: Binacleisthebest vs Skysolo - capsolo has been farming this tournament so far and has some of the best support in the tournament, whereas his opponent has not done particularly well. big gap inbound
  • SS1: Sputnik vs Saladae - I just don't know enough about Saladae to comfortably predict them. Sputnik is a fine player and at worst has a fine shot to win this
  • SS2: Gunpowder Gelatine vs Splash - same as the above, I think Splash is a very solid player, whereas I really don't know what to make of his opponent
  • SS3: D2TheW vs Zephyr2007 - D2 to me has looked more impressive in the games that I've seen these two play, albeit it's a limited sample size
  • SM1: Airwind vs Yami - Yami has had some rough showings so far, especially last week, and while Airwind sorta choked in his week 1 game I feel this is a likely time to rebound
  • SM2: Pitmore vs Jordy - Pitmore brought Vincune sand with a Plasmanta last week.

  • SS Bo3: The Number Man vs xavgb - yeah this isn't the week to predict against stresh
  • SS1: Averardo vs snake_rattler - I don't view snake's battling abilities as highly as his general knowledge of the meta, and I think Averardo's skill as a player + his team support should cover for whatever meta knowledge he lacks
  • SS2: Estarossa vs K3ppr - wasn't impressed by K3ppr's last week performance given the team he was up against; I think estarossa is a better player and should win handily
  • SS3: heartofgold vs Akumajou - I flipped a coin for this one because I don't know either user well enough
  • SM1: quziel vs SunMYSER - I've not been too impressed w/ SunMYSER so far, whereas quziel is a fairly known commodity in my eyes in terms of skill. the big gap here I think comes in building because quziel is really good at exploring uncommon ideas and getting them to work
  • SM2: SHSP vs GardeLame - SHSP had a good showing into Lasen and gets an opponent that I just don't know enough about to predict in their favor

Rabia vs velvet - i am going to win

Bo3: Rabia vs Velvet: pretty hype matchup from the jump here, think Rabia's creative builds that he's shown so far will help a lot in bo3.

SS: Darek851 vs TJ: I havent seen much from TJ so this is shaky, but I find it hard to bet against a well supported rising star in Darek who's already notched two really solid wins so far.
SS: Lasen vs Roxiee: Lasen is on a tear so far goddamnit medicham and the gauntlet continues with a grudge match I anticipate being handled pretty easily.
SS: Ryan207 vs Againa: Though its been rough for Againa thus far, this MU seems like a pretty simple one to jump off a strong finish to Snake.
SM: Birkal vs Heaven Jay: Jay in SM, which I think is his best spot, versus a shaky Birk. Hard lean Jay.
SM: Reachzero vs Granny Pie: Reach back in his best tier IMO, though watch this slot: GP came within inches of upsetting Jordy last week and I think this is far from a sure deal, despite Reach being very solid.

(1) Lotls vs Smokos (5)
Bo3: Binacleisbest vs Skysolo: Break out the brooms boys; CAPsolo has been one of the most impressive players thus far and I don't see it stopping.
SS: Sputnikk vs Saladae: I'm not the most familiar with Saladae here in CAP, but i'm aware they have impressive results elsewhere; with team support, I think that can be heavily unlocked here. Fun game.
SS: Gunpowder Gelatine vs Splash: Splash should be leaps and bounds ahead here flatly.
SS: D2theW vs Zephyr2007: D2 diversified his building within the last week and I think he's got an argument to be favored against most anyone after doing so. Nothing against Zeph here, but I don't see an upset with the run D2 has had as of late.
SM: Airwind vs Yami: Though neither player totally impresses me so far, I'm leaning slightly Yami in terms of play quality.
SM: Pitmore vs Jordy: Jordy has been a little less than godly so far this tournament, but this one should still be simple.

Dear Granny Pie,

You are one of my all-time favorite opponents. I have never tired of almost being swept (or actually being swept) by your Aurumoth, haxing you into oblivion, or baying at the moon as you spammed Trick Room like a madman on the ladder. Team building support is likely to save you the pain of facing me with exactly the same team as you have mained since Aurumoth had Quiver Dance and Illusion, yet I still promise I will do my best to play to my utmost, dodge all your Hurricanes, and crit you at least twice.
