With a strong 2-vote lead, YoBuddy is this week's winner! Congrats! His team will be featured in the Hall of Fame in the OP of this thread.

Next up, we're building with...

Hydreigon! One of the pseudo-legendaries that dodged the snap, Hydreigon has definitely seen better days; after falling out of favor in XY as well as never seeing any relevant play in SM, it's now poised to make a strong comeback in SS! Its base 98 Speed is actually quite high in this rather slow metagame, letting it maximize its sizable base 125 Special Attack as it Dracos and Dark Pulses opposing teams to submission. Its Max Wyrmwind, in particular, can be quite handy in dealing with SS DOU's plethora of physical attackers while at the same time destroying anything it touches. Still, it has to contend with Dragapult, both in carving out a niche for itself as well as in battle; Dragapult is one of the few relevant Pokemon that outrun it naturally, and Hydreigon has to be built with in a way that plays particularly to its strengths and not ultimately a worse version of Dragapult. Hydreigon is also quite vulnerable to the metagame's Fairy-types, moreso than Dragapult due to both its STABs being quite ineffective. How will Hydreigon make a place in teams where it can truly call its role as its unique own? That's the task for Week 3!

Requirements: A team must have Hydreigon.

Week 3 submissions close on Saturday 11:59 PM EST.

woooooo n10siteams are here for ss baby starting it off with a relatively mild one tho

the idea is that i think scarf hydrei is rly its only set it covers most of the drawbacks that come from just using the mon while having the fewest negative attributes. goth mew is just busted and i think ally switch helping hand paired with 3 pretty strong attackers is very solid, this team has a lot of options for playing around tr: jailmew for non torkoal variants, and ferrothorn helps stall turns until u can reposition. basically u just click icicle crash ally switch a lot. uh what else... vs zard u gotta dmax braviary i think which kinda sucks being trapped into it but its fine right and also one small thing, psychic fangs > psychic on mew is solely for the gmax lapras matchup, and it helps vs grimmsnarl teams too. screens rly can screw with teams like this that just want to attack things

Team is built around specs Duraludon + scarf Hydreigon + Fake Tears Whimsicott. Spread Fake Tears, bomb fast shit with Hydreigon and slow shit with Duraludon. Idea somewhat stolen from Cybertron's Dallas regionals team. Manual Grassy Terrain resets Psychic Terrain and lets you continue to boop stuff with Fake Tears, plus fringe benefits of dropping EQ's power for Arcanine/Duraludon.

Arcanine and Gyara form a double Intim core, with Gyara providing a bit of set up pressure on the opponent and also completes FWG with Whims. Conk gives you a priority attack, a secondary status sponge, and just hits shit really hard.

The real point of this team is it's a decently nice rainbow in the builder and I miss that from gen 7 :(

My goal with this team was to hit both extremes of the speed control spectrum, and the result was rain tailroom. Scarf Hydregion, Ludicolo, and Charizard thrive as leads or mid-game cleaners for when Trick Room expires, while Rhyperior and Hatterene apply pressure inside of Trick Room (and help defend vs opposing Trick Room teams). Pelipper also works as a de facto Trick Room attacker, and it has the added bonus of setting Tailwind on the last turn of Trick Room to sustain your team's momentum consistently.

I agree with the posts above that Scarf Hydreigon is really the best set. Being able to outpace Dragapult and Scarf Dracovish for the kill is huge, and anything with U-turn makes for a decent Scarf candidate anyways. U-turn can also strategically be used to proc Ludicolo's Weakness policy -- when this lead is employed, you can pivot Hydreigon out into Pelipper, giving Ludicolo an immediate speed boost to clip something with a +2 STAB attack.

In my opinion the main thing Hydreigon can do better than dragapult is mass damage. My goal was to build a team around a nasty plot Hydreigon, and it evolved into this Lapras perish trap team you see now. Lapras works nicely bc it can gmax to help hydreigon or corv set up or I can dmax something else and it's still been very useful with freeze dry and perish song. Scrafty's combination of intimidate and fakeout allows for easier setting, aids perish song, and fills in as a sand counter. Finally, whimsicott adds speed control that allows me to run lorb Hydreigon instead of scarf. Most of the mons on this team have middling or slower speed which gives them the flexible ability to counter a variety of opposing teams using either Goth's troom or Cott's twind.

Instead of Scarf Hydreigon I opted for Weakness Policy. Weakness Policy is a pretty broken item in SWSH, abusing the extra bulk and power of Dynamax to its fullest potential. Hydreigon's +2 Max Steelspike OHKOs every (non Babiri/Sash/Dynamax) Fairy in the meta and Hydreigon is faster than all of them except Whimsicott. I made up for the lack of immediate speed with extra speed control options for the other members of the team. U-Turn Whimsicott is the mon of choice to activate Weakness Policy. U-Turn is a useful move on Whimsicott as it often finds itself switching out to keep the option of a late game Tailwind. Being able to escape Gothitelle's Shadow Tag is also really useful. As many people have identified Dragapult is a big threat to Hydreigon. I added Scarf Darmanitan for some extra speed control and to threaten Dragapult. Arcanine helps give the team a defensive backbone as a Fairy resist and Intimidate support. Keeping the speed advantage and offensive pressure was important to me so I added Lum Berry Moxie Gyarados. Being able to boost allies to +1 speed with Max Airstream to outspeed Dragapult is very useful and Gyarados is a good wincon by itself. Mew brings the team together. So far the team is very weak to Trick Room and I needed an iron clad way of preventing it in one slot. Duraludon, while literally iron clad, needs support beyond Whimsicott's Helping Hand to KO Babiri Berry Hatterene, which makes it a pretty medicore Trick Room check on this team, so I removed Duraludon for Mew after some testing. Beyond the standard Imprison/Transform/Trick Room set I added U-Turn as another way to activate Hydreigon's Weakness Policy and to use Mew's bulk to pivot in the more frail members of the team. Transform also allows me to gain another sweeper by Transforming into my own boosted Hydreigon/Gyarados. Triple U-Turn gives me plenty of options to keep momentum and bring in Hydreigon/Gyarados to Dynamax and win the game.

Its my first time building for this so here I go

I wanted to start this with Subs Hydreigon and Whimsicott, I like so much Whimsicott with TW prankster is really usefull for this team. I thought Aegislash because can pressure and help Hydreigon but my MU vs Sand was terrible so I put Corviknight, and can abuse dynamax with it. My next pick are Arcanine and Rotom-W, I think Arcanine is a great mon and can support the team with Intimidate and Snarl, Rotom-W can support with Volt-Swith and WoW, and Its good for this team. Finally as last mon I put Sylveon because can pressure offensively with Choice Specs + Pixilate.

Sorry for my english, Its not my first lenguague :c

S/os tenzai for help me testing the team

Voting time is over and it's... a three-way tie! Crikey! Guess it'll be on my epic team assessment skills™ to break this tie, and with that...

YoBuddy takes the bag yet again! Congrats! His team will be in the OP of this thread

Next up, we're going to build with...

Durant! The definition of a true Hustler, Kevin Durant brings a certain brand of offensive presence that can make opposing teams shudder. Unlike its IRL contemporary though, the Ant ain't the kind of guy you can rely on to hit his shots. A nifty 109 Speed tier comfortably puts it most threats in even conditions, with only Dragapult outpacing it; meanwhile, a Hustle-boosted base 109 Attack stat makes it one of the tier's strongest attackers. It's quite frail, however, especially on the special side; I'm spitballing here, but it probably dies to Lapras Hydro Pump! (if it doesn't then that's sadder) Another criticism of it is how it can be a bit dependent on Dynamax, which covers its blindness issues; this is mitigated by the fact that its two STAB Max moves have pretty good effects in boosting Defenses and lowering both foes' Special Attack stats, on top of the boosted damage which brings Durant more killing power. How will you guys maximize this guy? That's the task for Week 4!

Requirements: A team must have Durant.

Week 4 submissions close on Saturday 11:59 PM EST.

This team started around the idea of using two of the most anticipated mons since recent times, Durant and Gothitelle. I've decided to use Durant as a faster but frailer Excadrill. Gothitelle's Fake Out helps out against the Sun combo (Charizard + Whimsicott), and its Shadow Tag is amazing in turning the tide to the team's favor.

The next couple of mons are pretty standard Good Stuffs. Dracovish takes care of most Fire-breathing mons, and Rotom-M takes care of Gastrodon / Rotom-W. Arcanine works well as an offensive stat-lowering support, and Braviary works well as an offensive stat-boosting support. The team is straight forward and easy to use. Enjoy!

Sorry, entrainment aint my style~
