Week 15
The mon that needs some love this time is..............
:ss/vileplume:
Vileplume @ Black Sludge / No Item

Bold Nature
- Giga Drain

Talonflame @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Flame Body
EVs: 248 HP / 76 Def / 184 Spe
Jolly Nature / Timid
- Brave Bird / Flare Blitz / Flamethrower
- U-turn
- Toxic / Will O' Wisp / Defog
- Roost

One of my favorite mons to go with Vileplume, the two of these combined are a HUGE middle finger to any physical attacker out there in the tier. Flame Body also makes Vileplume impossible to break through, too. Things like SD Bewear suddenly can't nuke Plume if it gets burnt first, and Talon has the tools to break the mons that stop it from being annoying, such as Toxic into Fires, such as Talon or Arcanine. It can also help chip and break Steel types that annoy Plume, such as Copper, Zong, or Escav if you decide to use Fire STAB. Plume's typing also really supports Talon, taking Electric and Water attacks with ease. It can also eat Toxic's to keep up Talon's longevity. All in all, a FIREEEE partner (ignore my pun, thanks).

guzzlord

:ss/guzzlord:
Guzzlord @ Choice Specs
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 116 HP / 252 SpA / 140 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk

- Draco Meteor
- Dark Pulse
- Fire Blast
- Sludge Wave

Guzzlord is a great partner for :vileplume: as it can take care of strong psychic-types such as Galarian Articuno, Espeon, and Indeedee-F. It can pressure them with a strong STAB- and Choice Specs-boosted Dark Pulse and it can also pressure Fairy-types such a Sylveon with a strong Sludge Wave. Moreover Guzzlord has a great Dual-STAB-combination with Dark and Dragon, which allows it to weaken alot of Pokemon severly. Vileplume whereas can switch into strong Fighting-types such as Mienshao and with Effect Spore it can punish U-turners potentially.

Guzzlord and Vileplume are a strong pairing and can cover most of the common Pokemon in the current metagame together as their typing allows that to do it reliable, Vileplume also has the traits to check such Pokemon constantly due to many options of reliable recovery.

Pangoro @ Choice Band
Ability: Scrappy
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Close Combat
- Knock Off
- Gunk Shot
- Bullet Punch

Ban-goro loves a Vileplume on its side as a solid switch-in to fighting type moves like Mienshao's Close Combat and as an answer to Sylveon.
Conversely Pangoro can be bought in on psychic types that threaten Vile like Espeon, Celebi and Xatu, where goro is then free to click Knock-Off and profit.

Despite both 'mons liking long walks on the beach, these two both hate being on the recieving end of flying type attacks and a check for Talonflame, Ninjask and Aerodactyl would be required to help the pair excel on a team together.

Bronzong @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 16 SpA / 240 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Stealth Rock
- Protect
- Toxic
- Psychic
Bronzong is a really good partner for Vileplume as it can easily check the fast and threatening Psychic types like Starmie and Galarian Articuno. Toxic is amazing for wearing down opposing defensive pokemon and can help Vileplume to better check a Pangoro that might hard switched into Bronzong's Toxic as it will take poison chip damage everytime it comes in. Another great benefit is Stealth Rock as it helps with Fire types that try to check Vileplume as they will take Stealth Rock damage if you use Corrosive Gas as they switch in.
Even tho you chip at Fire types, they still pose a big threat to this duo.

Diancie @ Leftovers
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Moonblast
- Diamond Storm
- Body Press

Vileplume can switch into the water and grass moves such as Scald and Leaf Storm aimed at Diancie while Diancie can set Stealth Rock and switch into fire and flying moves for Vileplume.

Copperajah @ Leftovers
Ability: Heavy Metal
EVs: 212 HP / 252 SpD / 44 Spe
Careful Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Heavy Slam
- Heat Crash
- Power Whip

Nice partner for the poisonous flower that is Vileplume. Mienshao and other Fightings are common right now and Plume is one of the best switch-ins to them due to its bulk and Effect Spore potentially crippling them. This makes Capper Raj a good teammate for Plume since it can switch out to Plume to allow Effect Spore to happen.

Week 16

Decidueye @ Choice Specs
Ability: Overgrow
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Leaf Storm
- Shadow Ball
- U-turn
- Giga Drain
Non-Grass Knot Starmie only has one really safe check and that is Gastrodon. Decidueye, especially Choice Specs or just specially offensive Decidueye is really great to check opposing Gastrodons while, unlike other teampartner for Starmie, not carring to much about a potential burns from Scald. U-turn gives Decidueye the ability to pivot out against opposing pokemon to bring in Starmie more safely.
Choice Specs Decidueye and Starmie also have similar checks which means Decidueye is amazing at helping Starmie to break these shared checks. Two examples are Assault Vest Copperajah and bulky Drapion.
So overall these two have great offensive synergy.

flygon

:bw/flygon:

Flygon @ Choice Band
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Claw
- Earthquake
-
First Impression
- U-turn

Flygon is a great Partner for :starmie: as it supports it and gets it in with a strong U-turn and it can pressure Dark-types fir it with either a Choice Band-boosted First Impression or an Earthquake in the case of Drapion. Furthermore Flygon helps versus Rotom-C, which is a big threat for Starmie. Flygon can also support Starmie with its high damage it puts out and bringing Pokemon in range for Starmie, Pokemon such as Goodra.
Starmie on the other hand can pressure bulky Water-types like Mantine with a strong Life Orb-boosted Thunderbolt. Starmie can also help against strong Ground-types such as Mudsdale, which Flygon has trouble dealing with. In combination they can pressure most of the tier with their STAB moves and coverage options and pair well together as an offensive core.

EVs: 252 HP / 8 SpA / 248 Spe

IVs: 0 Atk
- Leaf Storm
- Volt Switch
- Defog
- Will-O-Wisp

What fit well with the dumbest wallbreaker of the tier? The dumbest pivot of course.
Nearly unwallable volt switch to bring starmie easily. Also checks physical decidueye, dhelmise and cripple fat walls in copperajah, escavalier.

Drapion @ Black Sludge
Ability: Battle Armor
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Knock Off
- Poison Jab
- Earthquake

Knock Off makes it easier for teammates like Starmie to break past pokemon by removing leftovers and black sludge. Poison Jab can also wear down specially defensive pokemon by poision damage.

:ss/Dragalge:

Dragalge @ Black Sludge
Ability: Adaptability
EVs: 252 HP / 124 SpA / 132 Spe
Modest Nature
- Flip Turn
- Draco Meteor
- Sludge Bomb
- Toxic Spikes

Dragalge can be a good partner for LO Starmie. Its typing and bulk make it a good switch in to mons that can threaten Starmie like Choice scarf Rotom-c, Heliolisk, and Golisopod. Toxic spikes can help chip down foes into range for Starmie to clean with its great coverage of potentially super-effective moves, and flip turn can bring starmie in on would-be steel checks to Dragalge like Bronzong that don't particularly appreciate a good blasting of Hydro Pump if chipped. Conversely Starmie can find some opportunities to come in on mons that could threaten Dragalge like Xatu and Articuno-G. This duo would function best on a team with a good Knock-off absorber like itemless plume.

Salazzle @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Corrosion
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Nasty Plot
- Fire Blast
- Sludge Wave
- Toxic / Knock Off

:salazzle: + :starmie: makes a nice combo. True, neither can just auto-pivot into the other, but they do take care of each others issues like the start of a Grass-Fire-Water core should. Starmie dislikes Grasses and can dispose of opposing Fires, Rocks, and Grounds while Salazzle hates said types and can eliminate said Grasses and even wear down or kill bulky Steels like Copperajah that Starmie can't cleanly kill even with STAB Hydro.
