Looks to be a back and forth race between MonkeySniper and Corthius right now for Top Cupid with only 2 weeks left to go! But I may throw in a special week for Week 10 for the ones behind them. Anyway though........

Week 9
The mon that needs some love this time is............

Alcremie @ Leftovers
Ability: Aroma Veil
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
- Calm Mind
- Dazzling Gleam
- Mystical Fire
- Recover

Alcremie is one of the nicer Fighting checks in NU thanks to it being able to eat up said moves as well as recover any lost HP. Although taking on Fighting types is its thing, it can also deal with stuff like Cofagrigus and Dubwool with their Body Press moves. It can even run a potential LO set, but I went with this one since it seems to be the best one atm. Let's see how you guys help this strawberry swirl thingy.

silvally-ghost

:ss/Silvally-Ghost:
Silvally-Ghost @ Ghost Memory
Ability: RKS System
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Multi-Attack
- Psychic Fangs
- U-turn
- Defog

:silvally-ghost: & :alcremie:
ghostvally can act like a hazard-removal-support for alcremie and it is able to check poison-type pokémon such as garbodor, toxicroak and qwilfish.
silvally-ghost can also help alcremie with u-turn support as well since alcremie appreciates to get on the battlefield via momentum. ghostvally can - with its good defensive typing - check strong fighting-type pokémon with coverage-options to poison type moves such as poison jab. alcremie on the other hand can help against strong dark-type pokémon such as malamar, silvally-dark and it can set-up a late-game-sweep due to calm mind and after a +1 in spatt and spdef it is very threatening and able to combat many more mons. in overall alcremie likes the new addition in ghostvally as a teammate since ghostvally can combat the poison-type and bring in alcrmie via the use of u-turn.

Silvally-Steel
:ss/Silvally-Steel:
Silvally-Steel @ Steel Memory
Ability: RKS System
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Multi-Attack
- Flamethrower
- Work Up
- Grass Pledge

Silvally-Steel is an excellent partner for Alcremie because it provides so many useful resistances e.g. against Poison and Steel-types that could try to take advantage of Alcremie. Work Up is an underrated choice for any Silvally really and could see some use in the futur. It in combination with Flamethrower helps breaking annoying opposing Steel-types like Klinklang and Ferroseed that would resist Multi-Attack. Grass Pledge helps dealing with Water-types that resist both attacks and is mainly there for hitting Quagsire. It can act like a surprising wincon/breaker in the mid- or late-game.
In return Alcremie is one of the best answers to Fighting-types in the tier and obviously acts as a bulky wincon that can steamroll through a non-prepared team or a team that lost its answers to it.
They do both struggle to break past Fire-types but an option for that shouldn't be the hardest thing to fit onto a team.

Reserving Sandaconda

sandaconda.gif.m.1578614926.gif

Sandaconda is a great teammate for Alcremie, as it excels at disposing of the Poison- and Steel-types that threaten Alcreamie. More specifically, it has a great match-up with 3 particular Pokemon: Garbodor, Silvally-Steel, and Togedemaru. Garbodor struggles to even scratch Sandaconda, and fishing for a poison with Gunk Shot won't work either, as Shed Skin will simply remove the aliment. Silvally-Steel can't touch Sandaconda unless it runs Grass Pledge, and even then, taking an Earthquake can heavily compromise Steelvally's ability to check threats later in the game, so it will usually be forced out anyway. Togedemaru does a pittance to Sandaconda with Iron Head, and generally has 0 way of breaking through it.

In exchange, Alcreamie is generally good at sponging hits like Wishiwashi's Scald and other weaker hits for Sandaconda, thanks to Recover. Additionally, it also has the potential to sweep the opposing team after Sandaconda has fulfilled its role.

Garbodor @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Aftermath
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Toxic Spikes
- Stomping Tantrum
- Spikes
- Gunk Shot

Toxic spikes are a very nice thing to have to accompany a partner that sets up and in this case the set up mon being Alcremie. Also garbs defensive typing works really well with alcremie since it resists steel and poison types. And since most of the steel and poison types in the teir are physical i dont think itd hurt to add Rocky Helmet to add some wear and tear to mons like SD croak, scarf togedemaru and steelvally

Stunfisk-Galar @ Leftovers
Ability: Mimicry
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Yawn / Thunder Wave

:ss/stunfisk-galar:

Nominating galarfisk as a partner.

StunG has a good defensive synergy with Alcremie - It can eat up poison and steel moves for it, and the new physdef set is going to be more common to check Scyther since the DLCs, while Alcremie has a great spdef and that is further boosted by calm mind so they can balance one another's defensive strengths. Alcremie is a great fighting check as well to take any incoming fighting moves that might be coming Galarfisk's way. The pair struggles a bit against NU's few fire mons, so they'd be best put on a team with an answer to those.

Golurk @ Choice Band
Ability: No Guard
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Poltergeist
- Trick
- Close Combat

A new wallbreaker, Golurk can help nail Poison- and Steel-types that threaten or wall Alcremie. It also breaks special walls that may give Alcremie trouble like Toxic Clefairy and Lanturn. It's a little slow but can still rely on its bulk and pivots to help get it in safely to trade hits in its favor. Trick is a last resort for any walls that may give both mons trouble, and can be a safe option to free Golurk of its Choice lock.

Rapidash @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Flare Blitz
- High Horsepower
- Morning Sun

CM Alcremie has a hard time hitting Steels and Fires despite having non-STAB Mystical Fire, and Rapidash can provide the heavy hitting that it needs to. Thanks to Dash's new toy given to it this gen in Swords Dance coupled with its very nice Speed tier, it can outspeed and deal with all those nasty previously mentioned problems like Klinklang, Silvally-Steel, opposing Rapidash, Flareon, etc. Rapidash's coverage in High Horsepower deals with opposing Fires as well. Alcremie, in return, can handle stuff Rapidash can't very well like Cofagrigus, Sandaconda, among others.
