Buff mosquito go brrr

I enter buzzwole as a counter to Urshifu Rapid.
Buzzwole @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Drain Punch
- Ice Punch
- Roost
- Toxic

If urshifu does anything but surging strikes, it does no damage. Even if it surging strikes, it takes a lot from helmet, and buzzwole can just roost it off. Sure, it gets picked apart by future sight, but let's be real, what doesn't lol

252 Atk Choice Band Urshifu-Rapid-Strike Surging Strikes (3 hits) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Buzzwole on a critical hit: 162-192 (38.7 - 45.9%) -- approx. 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

(Ps- #BellBongTheBronzong for vr)

- Nasty Plot
- Hurricane
- Focus Blast
- Knock Off

Tornadus-T is a great check to Urshifu that can also be an emergency switch-in to Close Combat or Aqua Jet. It outspeeds and easily OHKOes with Hurricane, forcing Urshifu out (and thus Torn can set up) or the opponent to sacrifice it.

Ability: Stance Change
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature
- Substitute
- Toxic
- King’s Shield
- Shadow Ball

takes 0 from cc, cripples with toxic, switches into ferrothorn, or does half with shadow ball. helmet is nice w/ wish support, but if not, use leftovers.

Counters: :Slowbro: and :Toxapex:
Out of the 4 that I can choose from, these two don't depend on having HDB and have better overall longevity.

Checks: :tapu Fini:and :Kartana:
Fini can comfortably switch in a couple times and is also a great win condition on its own. Kartana over Rilla because its naturally faster so it doesn't have to be predictable. can threaten an SD as shifu switches. It's also an emergency one-time switchin into water stab and U-turn. As mentioned, CB kart also eases prediction if shifu is below 55% via threatening a ko with sacred sword.

WEEK18!
Up to the next week this time around we have our beloved Ground/Dragon:
:ss/Garchomp:
Garchomp @ Leftovers
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Earthquake
- Fire Fang / Stone Edge
- Scale Shot

Garchomp is a great Pokemon in the metagame with tearing most of its checks apart with a devestating combination of Swords Dance and Scale Shot and its great EdgeQuake coverage, which grants it terrifying wallbreaking potential throughout the game. Most notably, on hyper offensive team structures it can execute its role perfectly as a setup sweeper and is able to clean very easily in the late game, if not kept in check accordingly.
What are some Pokemon which can counter / check this scary Ground and Dragon Landshark? Let's get things rolling with submissions!

Submissions will end in a Week from now on!

:ss/buzzwole:
Buzzwole @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 HP / 144 Def / 112 Spe
Impish Nature
- Close Combat
- Ice Punch
- Leech Life
- Roost

Either Garchomp has Life Orb or it doesn't, even then if it was Buzzwole is still an amazing counter to Garchomp in this case Buzzwole is able to stomach Swords Dance boosted Fire Fang and any other move from Garchomp does pitiful damage against Buzzwole. With Rocky Helmet chip damage for making contact with Fire Fang and followed up by an Ice Punch Buzzwole is able to remove Garchomp with ease and has Roost to keep itself healthy to switch into it at all times. If Garchomp was running Stone Edge it will require another boost of Garchomp to potentially threaten Buzzwole with Scale Shot and Stone Edge, though it makes it more vulnerable with the defense drop and relying on Stone Edge to hit, and even then Buzzwole still stomachs all of that only fearing Scale Shot hitting all five times.

Hippowdon
:bw/hippowdon:
Hippowdon @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- Slack Off
- Stealth Rock
- Whirlwind/Ice Fang

Hippowdon is a check to Garchomp. Garchomp fails to 3HKO Hippowdon without any set-up and while a +2 Earthquake can 2HKO Hippowdon, Hippowdon can still tank a hit and phaze it out after the set-up. Ice Fang only 2HKOs Garchomp, so it is a bit more tricky. Whirlwind is a better move to use here. The rest is self-explainatory. EQ is your STAB, Stealth Rock is Stealth Rock and Slack Off is your recovery move.

Weavile

:sm/weavile:
Weavile @ Choice Band
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Icicle Crash
- Knock Off
- Ice Shard
- Low Kick

Of course as a check.
Naturally faster, threatens clean ohko without even making contact and has x4 effective priority to keep it in check if it gets a scale shot speed boost. It can't switch in, but as long as Weavile is capable of entering the field, Garchomp isn't sweeping your team anytime soon.

:ss/Rillaboom: as a check

Rillaboom @ Choice Band
Ability: Grassy Surge
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Grassy Glide
- Wood Hammer
- Knock Off
- U-Turn / Superpower

Banded Rillaboom shrugs off Earthquake easily and is not 2HKOd by unboosted Scale Shot (assuming 3 hits each). In return, Rillaboom deals approximately 70-80% with Grassy Glide. If Garchomp is at -1 defense from Scale Shot then Grassy Glide always OHKO.

Ah yes, old classic

:ss/slowbro:
Slowbro @ Heavy-Duty Boots

Level: 100
Relaxed Nature
Ability: Regenerator

EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
IVs: 0 Spe

- Scald
- Slack Off

- Ice Beam
- Teleport

Ice Beam Slowbro (Because, lets be honest, if you want FuturePort just go Slowking) is a check to SD Garchomp. It can always switch in (Unboosted EQ is always a 4HKO; not even with 5 hits twice Scale Shot can 2HKO; SD does nothing) and after Garchomp boosts with SD it can Ice Beam the crap out of it with minimal chip damage (You can invest a bit more in SpA for better OHKO chances). This gets even better as Slowbro can switch out after killing Garchomp, thus recovering HP, and allowing it to check other wallbreakers like Urshifu-Rapid-Strike.

Quick calcs:

252 Atk Garchomp Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Slowbro: 111-132 (28.1 - 33.5%) -- 0.1% chance to 3HKO

+2 252 Atk Garchomp Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Slowbro: 220-261 (55.8 - 66.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

4 SpA Slowbro Ice Beam vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Garchomp: 296-352 (82.9 - 98.5%) -- 31.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

Skarmory @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 236 SpD / 20 Spe
Bold Nature
- Spikes
- Body Press
- Iron Defense
- Roost

This Skarmory checks Garchomp with Fire Fang, and counters with Stone Edge. I submit check as the former is much more common at the moment, but it can switch into anything except Fire Fang or Swords Dance from sets that carry that. Every move except Fire Fang does nothing, and with Iron Defense you can get around Swords Dance. Body Press KOes at +4 after some Rocky Helmet damage, which isn't needed from Stone Edge sets as they do nothing to it.

:ss/clefable: @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Moonblast
- Soft-Boiled
- Stealth Rock
- Heal Bell

Garchomp's eq gets outhealed by soft boil and unaware makes sure that garchomp cannot break through it even with a boost. and cannot scale shot rng through it due to clefable being fairy type.

0 SpA Clefable Moonblast vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Garchomp: 224-266 (62.7 - 74.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
+2 252 Atk Garchomp Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Unaware Clefable: 144-171 (36.5 - 43.4%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

Dragapult @ Choice Specs
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Flamethrower
- U-turn
- Shadow Ball

Pult is an ok offensive check as long as chomp hasn't clicked scale shot yet. You outspeed, OHKO with draco and win.

I enter Quagsire as a counter to Garchomp
quagsire.gif

Quagsire @ Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Relaxed Nature
- Scald
- Recover
- Toxic
- Earthquake

While not the most popular Pokemon in the OU meta, Quagsire can serve a nice niche as a heatran switch and most importantly as a Garchomp counter. Due to unaware, Quagsire does not fear the Swords Dance set-up by Garchomp at all, and will always be able to come in safely assuming it's not heavily chipped. Fire Fang and Stone edge will be doing a measly 10%, Earthquake only has a 17% chance to 3HKO, and a 5-hit Scale Shot still will not 2HKO Quagisre. Due to Recovery + Leftovers Quagsire can easily stayed healed up in front of and switch into Garchomp safely, as well as toxic stall it until to falls to poison damage.

252 Atk Garchomp Scale Shot (5 hits) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Quagsire: 165-200 (41.8 - 50.7%) -- approx. 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 Atk Garchomp Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Quagsire: 132-156 (33.5 - 39.5%) -- 17.3% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 Atk Garchomp Stone Edge vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Quagsire: 44-52 (11.1 - 13.1%) -- possibly the worst move ever

Kartana @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Leaf Blade
- Knock Off
- Sacred Sword
- Smart Strike
I submit Kartana as a check to chomper
It can come in on a Swords Dance or a scale shot while threatening it with instant death with its leaf blade, it can be a pretty risky way of dealing with it but it dies the job

1622633652494.png

Latios (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Draco Meteor
- Trick
- Psychic
- Aura Sphere

I submit scarf latios as a check to :garchomp:

It can easily come in on an eq or sd, because of levitate, and can also revenge kill boosted in speed chomp with a stab 130 spatk 130 BP super- basically it kills it. The latis also have some defensive utility like checking heatran so they aren't the hardest mons to put on a team. The moves are obvious, draco and psyshock as stabs, aura sphere is better coverage than mystical fire, and trick to cripple switch ins like clef or fini or magearna.
(You have no idea how sad I am that i cant post Bronzong here btw:psysad:)
Ps - idt calcs are needed tbh
