Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.
I am submitting Primarina as a check. Primarina is able to safely switch in on Shadow Ball and heal off the damage with Rest, due to its high natural SpDef. It is also able to eat up Close Combats and does not care about Toxic whatsoever because of Rest. Primarina also being solid outside of checking Toxic + Close Combat Aegislash is a good reason to consider it, as it checks Hydreigon, Keldeo, Salamence, and Moltres to boot.
252+ SpA Aegislash-Blade Shadow Ball vs. 252 HP / 124+ SpD Primarina: 109-130 (29.9 - 35.7%) -- 38.5% chance to 3HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
Nidoking @ Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Earth Power
- Sludge Wave

Nidoking is a check to aegislash. It outspeeds, can live a shadow ball and OHKOs with Earth Power.
252+ SpA Life Orb Sheer Force Nidoking Earth Power vs. 112 HP / 0 SpD Aegislash-Shield: 307-361 (106.2 - 124.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ SpA Aegislash-Blade Shadow Ball vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Nidoking: 192-226 (63.3 - 74.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
Suicune is a counter to this Aegislash set. Shadow Ball does fairly minimal damage, as its only a guaranteed 3HKO with Stealth Rock up, and Suicune outspeeds and can either Scald to fish for a Burn or set up a Calm Mind to make Aegislash into free setup fodder. Once it sets up a CM, Shadow Ball turns into a 5HKO. Close Combat does even less. Suicune doesn't care about Toxic either since it can Rest off the status and any damage Aegislash happens to do in the meantime.
252+ SpA Aegislash-Blade Shadow Ball vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Suicune: 135-160 (33.4 - 39.6%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery (around a 20% chance to 3HKO if Stealth Rock is not up.)
Mandibuzz is one of the best checks to aegislash in UU right now. As the only thing that cripples this mon from aegislash is toxic, but in a 1v1 outlook mandibuzz will always beat this aegislash set infront of it. With defense drops not lowering the power of foul play, it doesn't matter how many times the aegi clicks kings shield. Mandibuzz also takes minimal damage from cc that can easily be roosted off. Overall its a borderline counter, but gets crippled by toxic to the point where I'd only count it as a check since we are playing 6v6.
8 Atk Mandibuzz Foul Play vs. 112 HP / 0- Def Aegislash-Shield: 102-120 (35.2 - 41.5%) -- 64.2% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
8 Atk Mandibuzz Foul Play vs. 112 HP / 0- Def Aegislash-Blade: 534-630 (184.7 - 217.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ SpA Aegislash-Blade Shadow Ball vs. 248 HP / 0 SpD Mandibuzz: 79-93 (18.6 - 21.9%) -- possible 5HKO
8 Atk Aegislash-Blade Close Combat vs. 248 HP / 164+ Def Mandibuzz: 87-103 (20.5 - 24.3%) -- guaranteed 5HKO

Sorry for the long delay! Got busy with UUPL + didn't want to burn through what was left to answer. Anyway, specs hydra outspeeds and OHKOs aegislash. It can also pivot into shadow ball.

Darmanitan @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Flare Blitz
- U-turn
- Rock Slide
- Earthquake
It's no secret that sun has been dominating the ladder these last few months, and alongside the staple duo of Venusaur and Torkoal, Darmanitan has defined the playstyle as the staple physical wallbreaker. Firing off nuclear flare blitzes is incredibly tough to wall, so much so that Darmanitan is slated to rise to UU this coming shift. How will you put out this flaming monkey? Submissions are due March 29 at 11:59 PM GMT-7
Mence can switch in and always beat darm as it cannot flinch and with initimidate can always roost off the rock slides and be out of hko range. Darm also hates mence as it has to switch out taking rocks damage and especially any flare blitz recoil it might've used in the sun doing so which means salamence can out sustain darm even in the sun
0 Atk Salamence Dual Wingbeat (2 hits) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Darmanitan: 182-216 (51.8 - 61.5%) -- approx. 2HKO
-1 252 Atk Sheer Force Darmanitan Rock Slide vs. 252 HP / 156 Def Salamence: 152-180 (38.5 - 45.6%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
-1 252 Atk Sheer Force Darmanitan Flare Blitz vs. 252 HP / 156 Def Salamence in Sun: 135-159 (34.2 - 40.3%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
This set is a ton of fun and aids in checking Darm due to Darm almost always holding a Choice item. Chandelure is immune to Darmanitan's Fire STAB thanks to Flash Fire, and can scout for Rock Slide or Earthquake with Protect, switching after Darmanitan reveals which move it is locked into if necessary. It also aids immensely in dealing with the Sun teams Darmanitan is commonly seen on. Chandelure resists Venusaur's STABs and is immune to Weather Ball in sun, doesn't fear burns from Torkoal's Lava Plume, and can hit the Psychic types commonly found on sun teams like Hatterene super effectively. Chandelure unfortunately cannot be considered a Darmanitan counter on its own, since it will still lose 1v1, but as long as you have something paired with it that can switch into Darmanitan's Rock Slide and Earthquake, you can deal with Darmanitan easily. So, this set is a check.
Rotom-Wash resists Flare Blitz and is immune to Earthquake forcing Darmanitan to use Rock Slide or U-turn. In return, Rotom OHKOs with Hydro Pump and has the ability to recover with Leftovers and Pain Split.
252 Atk Sheer Force Darmanitan Flare Blitz vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Rotom-Wash: 126-149 (41.4 - 49%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 Atk Sheer Force Darmanitan Rock Slide vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Rotom-Wash: 107-126 (35.1 - 41.4%) -- 79.7% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 Atk Darmanitan U-turn vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Rotom-Wash: 76-90 (25 - 29.6%) -- 0% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery
0 SpA Rotom-Wash Hydro Pump vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Darmanitan: 396-468 (112.8 - 133.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO
RestTalk Primarina is a check to Darmanitan. It resists Flare Blitz, as well as being Neutral to Rock Slide and Earthquake, with the latter two not 2HKOing Primarina. Thus, Primarina can Rest off the damage and fire off a Scald to nearly always kill Darmanitan back. It is also resistant to U-turn, so it won't take much damage if the Darmanitan user predicts the switch.
252 Atk Sheer Force Darmanitan Flare Blitz vs. 252 HP / 132 Def Primarina: 146-172 (40.1 - 47.2%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
