BDSP finally got its slot in an actual team tournament fuck yea. Though of course given some of the discourse in the format discussion thread and some of the reactions from now-managers after the format was decided there's still somewhat of a "who are these people why are they in this tour" vibe. Figured I might as well share The Knowledge with The People as to who you should consider drafting for your BDSP slot. Even if you, the managers, decide to draft and slot a general Good Tour Clicker into one of these slots, I highly recommend you pick up some of these people as support for your team.
anyways
Even if he only signed up for BDSP, Baddy will get drafted regardless of what I write here let's be real. Great player who knows the metagame well and will almost certainly go positive. Not much else to say.
If we were still allowed to have our circuit banner as a prize, you would notice that Skitty (Skittyrox) is the current BDSP Circuit champion. Really on top of the metagame and is solid enough as a player. If I get drafted, he needs to get drafted, and vice versa. The Alt War must happen or else this tour means nothing.
Let's see what the man himself has to say though,
TyCarter is one of the BDSP tier leaders, so you can trust him to be a good choice for this slot. Of course he's also just a generally solid tour player so I'd be surprised if he doesn't get drafted whatsoever.
AstilCodex and Tbolt are both BDSP mods who are a bit more in-tune with its lower tiers but are still plenty competent at OU. Iirc Codex is also familiar with ZU, and Tbolt expressed slight interest in RU (if needed) in his signup, so even if you have other plans for BDSP they can provide value.
Edit: I've done a disservice to AstilCodex and I apologize
Tuthur is the original BDSP Circuit Champion and won BDSPPL II as both a player and a manager. Not super surprised BDSP was included in the signup but was surprised that it was listed above ZU.
People below are those that I think would be worth considering either as a different slot that can help with BDSP/slot in if really needed or just as support/good vibes.
yonitet is a complete wildcard in what he'll bring, in how he'll perform in battle, and if he'll actually sign up for this goddamn tour. He'll try and convince you that shit like Metagross and Articuno are viable, bring them, and then get demolished, or he'll bring something that's actually good and then it will be a question of if he will pull off some dumb shit randomly and lose. Proceed with caution (if he signs up).
Scarf Kricketune like Codex and Tbolt but not a mod and more involved in lower tiers than OU. Signed up for a bunch of the regular SS tiers so even if you place him in one of those he'll be helpful with BDSP prep.
sequoia went 4-2 in the best of 3 slot last BDSPPL, so they've definitely got skill but from what I've been told they're more of a clicker than a builder so you might need building support for them. My info could be wrong though and if they're self-sufficient then more power to them.
I don't think I have ever seen jawabarat play a game of BDSP OU in my life but he appears to be "embracing the unserious tier main life" and he was my predecessor on the BDSP NU council. He signed up for other tiers and would maybe be better off being put in those. Either way man is a top-tier chat presence that is guaranteed to up the vibes during the tour. Up the Bibs.
Lacks did well in BDSPPL and was on the winning team though he's one of those players who would likely need support in the BDSP slot and who's probably more likely to be/better off being placed in a different slot should he get drafted.
Also going to drop a bunch of resources for the tier so managers/players who aren't familiar with the tier can get caught up to speed on what's what here
The Speed Tier thread is honestly pretty bad/out of date but if you want to use it check the post at the very bottom by Xilefi for a more accurate list
I made a BDSP Lost Moves Compendium ahead of last BDSPPL to list out what (useful) moves were lost between SwSh and BDSP so that people can be more aware of they can/cannot expect while playing these formats (I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU LOOK THROUGH THIS AT SOME POINT IF YOU AREN'T FAMILIAR WITH BDSP!!!)
Oh and re: analyses if you plan on using them as a resource, C&C initially died like less than a year after launch and only started back up again last year or so in a rather slow process for updating existing analyses and writing stuff for shit that never got it. A good amount of stuff only has sample sets currently and a lot of the stuff that does have analyses right now is from that initial year of existence, so even if the information is still more or less accurate it misses out on a lot of the meta development since then. I'll list out what's been updated, is missing analyses, etc. in a spoiler tab.
For stuff that only has sample sets, there's probably a decent chance they're inaccurate since they were made super early on and shit has changed since then. I'll mainly point out the real bad cases though. Some of them are A-OK though.
