Stalin in the Rain

I love stall. I really do. I love stall to the point where this is the first successful team I've ever had that didn't have Blissey or Chansey. My favorite Pokemon in 5th gen is Tangrowth with his new ability Regenerator, but is weak to fire, one of the most common attacking types in the metagame. To fix this I decided to bring in eternal rain and other defensive Pokemon that could benefit from rain.

Like I said before, Tangrowth is my favorite Pokemon because he does not die. With Leftovers, Leech Seed, Giga Drain, Regenerator, 404 Hp and 383 Def he's close to untouchable.

Politoed provides Tangrowth with endless rain nullifying his fire weakness and providing support to my other Pokemon. And after using Politoed for a while he's not too bad himself.

Bronzong is another great Pokemon who can take advantage of the rain, which gets rid of his only weakness, fire. Bronzong can consistently set up Stealth Rock and can hit pretty hard with Gyro Ball while walling an assortment of threats.

Tentacruel's great in the rain with Rain Dish. He also has Rapid Spin and Toxic Spikes which I need for any stall team.

Skarmory adds Spikes to the fun and can Phaze, two more vital aspects of my team. The only problem is that he's my only Phazer now which can be annoying. He is a great physical defender and resists all of Tangrowth's weaknesses aside from fire which Drizzle makes up for.

I tried a mixed Eelektross because he had no weaknesses, could abuse a perfectly accurate Thunder and could beat a few more walls I was having trouble with including Jellicent. However after some use I decided he didn't do enough damage and was too slow, and trashed him. After getting rid of him I went through many Pokemon including Jolteon, Volcarona, Magnezone and Toxicroak, but couldn't find a good last Pokemon. Note that even though I did get rid of these Pokemon I am still open to add them back to my team.

I eventually decided on Tornadus, as he has priority taunt, can use Rain Dance if Politoed faints, and can spam STAB perfect accuracy Hurricane. Although I am currently using Tornadus I feel as if he is somewhat sub-par and am open to replacing him.

The Team

186.gif

Politoed (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Drizzle
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SDef
Calm Nature (+Def, -SDef)
- Scald
- Toxic
- Perish Song
- Protect

Politoed is here for Drizzle, but isn't that bad on its own. Politoed helps spread Toxic and can go for a burn with Scald, or support with Encore. I can't replace him without fundamentally changing my team, and I like a defensive set, but any changes to this would be appreciated. I don't use Encore that often but I don't really know what to replace it with.

465.gif

Tangrowth (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Sleep Powder
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Giga Drain
- Leech Seed

I love Tangrowth. Its bulky enough that it only takes 51% from a +2 Atk Dragonite's Fire Punch NOT in the Rain, only 25% in it. Sleep Powder's always fun, and HP [Ice] takes out boosted dragons who think they can hurt me. Giga Drain, Leech Seed, Leftovers and Regenerator keep him alive for a very long time.

437.gif

Bronzong @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 84 Atk / 80 Def / 92 SDef [0 Spd IVs]
Sassy Nature (+SDef, -Spd)
- Stealth Rock
- Gyro Ball
- Toxic
- Earthquake

With Levitate and in the Rain, Bronzong functionally has no weaknesses and is a great wall. Bronzong can easily set up Stealth Rock, spread around Toxic and remove fast threats like Gengar with Gyro Ball. Bronzong can even beat Heatran without an Air Balloon with Earthquake.

073.gif

Tentacruel (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Rain Dish
EVs: 252 HP / 240 Def / 16 Spd
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Toxic Spikes
- Rapid Spin
- Scald
- Protect

Tentacruel's great in the rain where Rain Dish provides an extra Leftovers recovery. Toxic Spikes and Rapid Spin are necessary while the 30% burn chance from Scald is always fun. Protect is useful for scouting and a free 12.5% recovery.

227.gif

Skarmory (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 232 Def / 24 Spd
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Roost
- Spikes
- Whirlwind
- Brave Bird

Just the normal Skarmory set. Can set up Spikes and Phaze as well as anybody else. Roost keeps Skarm alive and Brave Bird does some damage and is a great Physical Wall.

641.gif

Tornadus (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Prankster
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Hurricane
- Focus Blast
- Rain Dance
- Taunt

This is the slot I've had trouble with. I don't really know who to put here, but Tornadus has been better than other Pokemon I've tried even though he makes the 4th Electric weakness on my team. Without him I can't do much against Ferrothorn and to a lesser extent Magnezone, two huge problems. He can also use a 100% accurate Hurricane, bring up the rain if necessary and has a priority taunt. If you have any suggestions in this slot, that would be wonderful. I'm tempted to keep an offensive Pokemon because without that I don't have any real offense.

Any suggestions would be great, especially if you can help with the last spot on my team.

Hi there. you have no spinblocker and absolutely nothing for reuniclus. Additionally water attacks absolutley destroy you as your best bet when facing something like a Rotom-W is Tangrowth. I really suggest finding a place for a Ferrothorn in your team, probably over Bronzong or Tangrowth. Now your also fairly weak to NP celebi and Reuniclus. I would suggest Putting a RoarCm latias over Tornadus. Lastly You lack a spin blocker and could probably find a spot for one over Either Zong or Tangrowth. Additionally you could but a defensive perish song Cele over Tangrowth if you feel Cm jirachi sets are an issue. GL, and you may want to expand your descriptions a little.

Sets:

Ferrothorn (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 100 Def / 168 SpD
Nature: Sassy (+SpD, -Spe)
- Gyro Ball
- Leech Seed
- Stealth Rock (assuming you replace Zong)
- Power Whip

Latias @leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Calm Mind
- Dragon Pulse
- Roar
- Recover

Hey,

SubCM Jirachi and opposing Water-type special attackers can really pose threats to this team, because you don't have anything to take them on at all. Scarf Rotom-W just runs right through most of your team if Tangrowth is weakened, and if it gets hit with HP Ice early you're in deep trouble. The same thing applies to Jirachi, though it can possibly hax its way out of Tangrowth. Physically Defensive Gastrodon, in my mind, is a great fit here, since you can tank Water-type attackers with ease thanks to Storm Drain, while at the same time, Jirachi will have a hard time setting up on you because Earthquake will be doing loads of damage (it's a 2HKO with Spikes up) while a +1 Psyshock doesn't even 5HKO. Gastrodon also can spread Toxic if you need it to.

Gastrodon @ Leftovers
Storm Drain | Bold
252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Earthquake / Recover / Toxic / Ice Beam or Surf

Another thing - as already pointed out, opposing sun is a massive pain for this team to face, as well as Reuniclus, TR or otherwise. TR Reuniclus can be handled by Bronzong fairly nicely, but CM has a field day on this team. The CM Latias mentioned above handles both opposing Reuniclus as well as sun teams, who usually lack anything to effectively take it on. Hope this rate helped - gl!

First thing I noticed, as well as other people, when scanning this thread is a massive weakness to Calm Mind-Reunicles, also Tornadus doesn't really fit in on this team. I suggest you use a specially defensive Dragonite over Tornadus. It will solve your Reunicles problem as well as a few others like Celebi and sun team rather nicely. Feel free to add in more special attack and speed as you wish, but not too much.
Ice King (Dragonite) (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Multiscale
EVs: 248 HP / 8 SAtk / 252 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Roost
- Dragon Tail
- Hurricane
- Thunder

Tangrowth's position is rather odd here, it works but feel some sort of specially defensive Celebi might work better in that position. It would make it easier for you to deal with opposing water types like Rotom-W and Jellicent, while making it easier to dispatch a few rogue fighting pokemon which may break through Skarmory. Try it out, if it doesn't work then watever, I am totally theorymoning this. Feel free to use the last slot as something else like perish song or leech seed, and rest > recover perhaps.
Celebi @ Leftovers
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Giga Drain
- Psychic
- Recover
- Heal Bell

If you don't go for Celebi, consider a specially defensive Politoed, since you team already has enough physical defense anyway. Also, I highly suggest you use perish song over encore. Perish song allows you to phase as well as get rid of many troublesome threats, and pick them off in the end game. Bronzong might appreciate HP-ice over earthquake to deal with Gliscor and some Dragons (be sure to change the speed ivs to 2). The 24 speed on skarmory is to outspeed timid Wob, which you will rarely see, I suggest you just give it 252 def for that extra defesensive "boost."

Good luck.

Greetings Comrade! Unlike others here, I beleive Tornadus makes a great fit for team, just look at the likeness between him and our great leader, espcially the staches.
stalin+featuer+pic.jpg

Anyway, I agree that that you should put RoarCM Latias over Tangrowth. However, in Tornadus' slot I believe you should put Sub Split Gengar in. SubSplt Gengar fits in with the stall nature of this team, but also serves as a potent Spin Blocker. If need be, he can severely dent both the likes of Reuniclus and opposing Latias with a Life Orb boosted Shadow Ball. Lastly, his speed brings a powerful revenge killer to the table, who can outspeed Terrakion and some Latios.

Gengar (F) @ Life Orb
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Substitute
- Pain Split
- Shadow Ball
- Focus Blast

Life Orb Starmie is a huge problem - not just because it Rapid Spins your hazards away, but it also outspeeds and 2HKOs your whole team. CM Reuniclus is also a problem, since once it gets +1 SpA / SpD, it sweeps through your whole team, Recovering off damage when necessary. Skarmory can take one hit and phaze him out if he's at close to full health but that's only delaying the inevitable. I think a specially defensive Celebi would work really well on this team, since it checks both of these threats extremely well. I'd drop Bronzong to make room since he's not really doing anything for your team other than setting up SR, which Celebi can also do.

If you implement this change, I strongly recommend you also implement the already-suggested Latias to help against sun teams, but I'd try Substitute in place of Roar; you don't need to phaze out Reuniclus since you now have Celebi to deal with it, and Sub is extremely useful for setting up against mons like Toxic Ninetales. Tornadus is the one to drop to make room for Latias in my opinion, because he's extremely frail while your team's focus is on bulk. Latias still provides a respectable amount of offensive pressure, so she'll be able to somewhat fill Tornadus's role.
Celebi @ Leftovers | Calm
252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
Stealth Rock | Leaf Storm | Perish Song | Recover

As the team is now, you have nothing absolutely nothing to deal with oposin Ferrothorns.
And in the rain they are hard enough to take down allready.
As ferrothorn also is immune to poison your best bet would be taunting with the tornadus and hurricane/Focus Blast. Chance it will stay in is rather low tho, and if they do , you wont OHKO , yet you will be OHKO'd by the gyro ball , or you will get seeded.

Also personally i like Liquid Ooze as ability on the tentacruel.
This because ferrothorns and some others would leech seed you , and then proceed to kill themselves as long as you let the tentacruel stay in. A bit less recovery on the other hand but tentacruel can handle it pretty well.

I know this is a stall team , yet i will advice you an offensive pokemon:

Toxicroak @ Life Orb
Ability: Dry Skin
Evs: 252 Atk , 252 Spd , 6 Hp
Adamant/Jolly nature
- Swords Dance
- Cross Chop
- Sucker Punch
- Ice punch

This set is pretty standard but very effective.
It can also absorb toxic spikes .
It can freely come in on a ferrothorn and get a free swordsdance if they dont have thunder wave (and alot dont because it doesnt jive with gyro ball) .
Then they probably switch but you will have the upper hand as you absorb water.
A +2 Cross chop destroys almost everything that doesnt resist it (and even then , tentacruel dies to it)
A +2 Sucker punch kills almost all threats the people listed above (Starmie , Celebi , Jirachi , Reuniclus .....)
And then there is ice punch wich at +2 destroys a gliscor.
It also punishes dragons who think to set up on you (yes it OHKO's a DDnite with multi scale at +2)

Hey I don't have time to make all the changes now but I did add Latias and am considering Celebi over Bronzong. Thanks for all the help
