Standard Mono-Type Fighting Team

This is my first mono-team and I've gotten the rythm down for using it (Standard Ladder) but I can't help to think it could be better somehow. I don't follow the whole rule of 1 "other"-type being allowed on a mono team. All fighting type here, no exceptions.

Duty (Primeape) (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Vital Spirit
EVs: 70 HP/252 Atk/180 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Close Combat
- Rock Slide
- Earthquake
- U-turn

My extraordinary lead. Few things can get past this monster without taking hefty damage and it's revenge killing abilities makes it one tough cookie. Fighting Pokemon are known to hit hard. This one hits hard and fast. After using it it quickly became my favorite Pokemon.

I usually switch it into a sleep-inducing attack (Spore) and pound things into the ground.

Country (Machamp) (F) @ Lum Berry
Ability: No Guard
EVs: 252 HP/160 Atk/96 SDef
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Dynamicpunch
- Payback
- Rest
- Substitute

Machamp along with Poliwrath serve as bulky-mons of my team. My initial switch in on the dangerous Gengar along with other Dark-weak pokes that underestimate the power Payback. Sometimes when I don't know what to do or simply have no way of beating an opponent I must rely on Dynamicpunch hax. Good thing I have goodluck, eh?

Jarhead (Poliwrath) (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 HP/252 Atk/4 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Waterfall
- Ice Punch
- Focus Punch
- Substitute

Very underestimated Poke. Walls a lot of things and STAB Focus Punch is as dangerous as ever. Often the bain of many Hail teams. I'd probably have a fair bit of trouble against Dusknoirs if not for this, also.

Devil Dog (Lucario) (M) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 4 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Aura Sphere
- Shadow Ball
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Vacuum Wave

Another glass-cannon. I'm having a bit of trouble using this effectively but the selection of fighting-type special attackers is limited... Considering switching this out for a Blaziken or Infernape.

Honor (Heracross) (F) @ Flame Orb
Ability: Guts
EVs: 6 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Swords Dance
- Megahorn
- Close Combat
- Facade

This is my ace. Along with Gallade, this is usually one of the last Pokes on my team because the rest tend to bait out faster Pokes. Facade for everything. Close Combat for everything that needs some extra killing. Megahorn for everything that's weak against it (giving me some much needed coverage against psychic pokes).

Leatherneck (Gallade) (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Steadfast
EVs: 64 HP/252 Atk/192 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Close Combat
- Ice Punch
- Shadow Sneak
- Swords Dance

Very useful and versatile. If I can manage to shoot a Sword Dance off this thing is pretty much guarenteed to put a large dent in any team.

It says in the RMT rules that gimmick teams aren't allowed and this is close to a gimmick team if not a gimmick. Honestly, this has very little potential in OU. Anything that knows a flying or a psychic move with a choice scarf spells good game for you if Lucario is out.

The rules also say not to post remarks like this. Yeah, "if Porygon2 goes down, Gyarados sweeps ya", "If Blissey goes down you are Gengar weak","If Scizor goes down Alakazam will pwn you."

Although this team isn't the most competitive team it has potential. This team is entirely resistant to Stealth Rock which interests me. At least you know Tyranitar will never sweep you.

Earthquake on Primape is redundant because Close Combat gets the same exact coverage (most Ghosts have Levitate). Replace it with Fire Punch or Ice Punch or ThunderPunch. Frankly, I'd replace Rock Slide with one of those too. It hits Gyarados / Salamence really hard, and other Flying-types too.

Rest isn't doing anything for Machamp. Get rid of it for Stone Edge or perhaps Bulk Up. I know for a fact that a set like that works. It sets up on Dusknoir too.

Hidden Power Ice isn't doing much in this metagame, so I'd use Dragon Pulse over it on Lucario. Perfect coverage. I find Stone Edge more useful on Gallade as well.

I probably could have phrased that better. I think you might want to consider a Blissey. I know it doesn't fit the fighting type, but it would help you a lot. It could absorb any psychic attack except for some Zen Headbutts, but Jirachi is the only common holder of that move that I know of. Brave Bird is the only viable physical flying attack and whoever uses Brave Bird on Blissey has huge recoil to worry about. Air Slash and Psychic (the only 2 other viable flying/psychic moves) can be handled by Blissey easily. If you are willing to break away from the idea of a mono type team, Blissey would help immensely.

Edit: Actually, a Tyranitar is probably better as Blissey interrupts the very offensive style of play this team has.

Your team needs something to absorb Psychic and Flying type attacks. Why not try a Tyranitar in there? He is immune to Psychic and resists flying, and is a boon to have on just about any team. I would suggest putting him over Poliwrath, the worst member of your team. The Choice Band variety gives you a way to take out the pesky Psychic and Ghost types that can wall many other members of your team.

Additionally, I would drop one of your two swords dancers for a Nasty Plot Mixed Infernape. With CB Tyranitar to take out a lot of NP Nape's counters (starmie, gengar, latias), he should be able to sweep through the majority of many teams. It also gives you another special attacker so that Physical walls don't just ruin your day once Lucario goes down.

This team is way too physically based. You have 1 team member who uses moves that are special, and he'll be moving in and out a lot. On top of that, anything with Psychic and a set-up move: NP Azelf, CM Jirachi, CM Latias, and more: all tear through this team. Luckily, there is a good answer to both of these problems:

Scarfape can handle most of these threats with U-Turn, and provide some special attacks with Overheat and Hidden Power Ice or Grass Knot.

Now, for some nitpicks:
Machamp prefers RestTalk and Lefties, better for absorbing status.
FIre Punch is preferred>> EQ, hits Metagross and Zong much better IMO.

You might want to consider using a Support Fighting-Type with Protect, or Explosion teams (which I've seen quite a few of) walk all over you.

nice mono fighting i like those
but why isn't your poliwrath the belly drummer as it is his best option
change to
Poliwrath (M) @ Salac Berry
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Belly Drum
- Substitute
- Waterfall
- Ice Punch/Return/Brick break

with 29 IV's in hp or put the 4 Ev somewhere else and then its only 30 IV in hp
may i suggest to pluff in breloom somewhere preferable by machamp or primeape ?just for type coverage

I'd personally choose Infernape Lead instead of Primeape, and lose Gallade altogether...I can honestly say this is a pretty harsh dream to have to live up to, using all Fighting types, since Azelf will make you miserable, as would Staraptor or Swellow. Outside of that, though, you have basically nothing to worry about in terms of Flying or Psychic.

The reason I suggest Lead Infernape is to beat Lead Azelf, who is most likely to be the Azelf you would encounter. If you can use Fake Out + Fire Blast to defeat it before it can attack, you'll have eliminated a huge threat and gained a useful advantage.

Just so you no, i am pretty sure mono teams can have 1 different type poke.

But anyway, infernape is a good choice, try to put him somewhere as preferably a NPape, or a mixape. Give machamp sleep talk > sub.

Poliwrath's attack is too low for him to kill much. I made a poliwrath (yes a real one) and gave him something like, 252 HP / 34 Atk / 224 SpD and Bulk Up / Sub / Focus Punch / Waterfall, works well. But i havent tested it on shoddy.

Also, since you have a SDCross, consider changing gallade to more of a SpD wall/ Sweeper, can reach 361 SpD + nature, so think about that.
