Standard UU Team... Mostly

A very standard UU team from my experience. It has very good type coverage, at least on paper, and has managed to decimate a few OU teams.

Mesprit lead (Jolly)
@Choice Scarf
52 HP / 204 Atk / 252 Spe
Moves: [Zen Headbutt] [Trick] [Stealth Rock] [U-turn]
This is a somewhat standard scarfed lead. I like using it because people usually can not differentiate a scarfer from an offensive lead. In making them make a descision, I hold more control over the situation. If the opponent is a bulky lead, I will throw a trick their way then proceed to u turn out after they set up rocks or something similar. If i think they are going for the offensive, i just U-turn to a safer poke. No use in losing a wall-crippler early game.

Rock Polish Rypherior (Jolly)
@Life Orb
252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Moves: [Earthquake] [Rock Polish] [Megahorn] [Stone Edge]
Considering all it takes is a single Rock Polish to set up a very dangerous sweep in the UU metagame with this beast, it earned a special spot in my heart. I have seen this pokemon sweep an entire OU team because of its amazing abilities and high attack. He has very solid type coverage as well. I have safe switches that cover his 3x weaknesses fairly well.

Sleep Talk Spiritomb (Bold)
@Leftovers/Lum Berry
252 HP / 116 Def / 140 SpD
Moves: [Sleep Talk] [Rest] [Will-o-Wisp] [Dark Pulse]
Having no weaknesses, I can usually get my opponent to send out his strongest pokemon to defeat this thing. That generally means that I can set up a will-o-wisp and stall, or I can predict and send in a direct counter to that poke. Aside from that, being a ghost, it can effectively work as a spin-blocker. This pokemon tends to outlive other stallers too, considering I am carrying sleep talk. One extra dark pulse before a switch can mean a lot as well.

Sub-Punching Poliwrath (Adamant)
252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def
@ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
Moves: [Substitute] [Hypnosis] [Waterfall] [Focus Punch]
UUs form of Breloom for the most part. I enjoy sending this guy in on switches from Spritomb. I can almost always wall a hit to get off a Hypnosis then proceed to sub-punch. If i think they are going to switch, you can't go wrong with a STAB Waterfall. I do not carry Ice Punch because my Sceptile is running Dragon Pulse for any dragons I run across.
EDIT: Switched from Damp to Water absorb.

146.png
(Used to be Choice Arcanine)
Choice Scarf Moltres (Modest)
@ Choice Scarf
252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Moves: [Air Slash] [HP Ice] [Overheat] [Fire Blast]
Yet to try him out in conjunction with the team. Would be used to revenge kill problem pokemon or switch in on non-effective hits and force switches/land a KO. Will get some news about how it performs up ASAP.

White Herb Sceptile (Modest)
@White Herb
4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Moves: [Leaf Storm] [Focus Blast] [Dragon Pulse] [Energy Ball]
Bear with me for a moment with this Sceptile. This thing is not meant to be a straight-up sweeper. He has very good speed and tends to outrun many other pokes even with a Modest nature. The beauty of this set is the pure power it can dish out twice in a row. The way this set usually works is something similar to Arcanine. I send it in as a "revenge killer." Most people will assume it is a Choice Specs setup and either switch accordingly, or sit in and get revenge killed as I lock myself into a move. If i use Focus Blast and revenge kill a Registeel, since it will hit a little harder due to my modest nature, that might lead them to believe that it is Specd' as well. (As you can tell, I love mind games.) Upon their switch, they would switch into something that resists fighting. I use leaf storm. They see the white herb pop up and send in a revenge killer. Either way, I took out a poke. Possibly two. Aside from that, even if they call my bluff, I can still pack a 140 base power STABed Leaf Storm. (Points for a working Sceptile that doesnt have to really sacrifice usability for raw power?)

I am very fond of my team. However, I need some input as to what i can do to fill obvious weaknesses. It is very weak to entry hazard teams, but I have no idea if Hitmontop would be a good replacement for Pilowrath.

I am also a bit new to the UU scene, so any other input would be greatly appreciated.

UU Threats

Absol - Sceptile with Focus Blast.

Aggron - Poliwath and Sceptile both outspeed it. Not too worried.

Alakazam - Spiritomb. That is all.

Altaria - Sceptile outspeeds it. Aside from that, Ryph is running stone edge.

Blaziken - Might be an issue. Spiritomb can wall-n-stall unless it is a swords dancer. I have Poliwrath to take a hit and revenge with a waterfall however.

Chansey - Arcanine and Ryph both annihilate it.

Claydol - Spiritomb blocks its spin. Easily revenge killed by Arcanine and Poliwrath.

Clefable - Could be an issue. Something I would trick into. If trick is used, I could possibly KO with Sceptiles Focus Blast.

Cloyster - The entry hazards it sets up are the problem. Trick it a scarf and laugh at it. Sceptile could set up a revenge kill as well. Rypherior with a Polish up could OHKO with Stone Edge.

Donphan - Can be burned, hit with waterfall, and annihilated by Sceptile. Not a problem.

Drapion - Swords dance variants should be an issue if I cant burn or KO it with Arcanine in time.

Dugtrio - Might be an issue if switched in on Arcanine. If i am locked to Flare Blitz or Thunder Fang, thats a dead poke.

Feraligatr - Can be burned. Sceptile is generally faster unless it sets up a dragon dance. Spiritomb could burn and force a switch/stall it in most cases.

Hariyama - Arcanine for Intimidate or Spiritomb for immunity.

Hitmonlee - Spritomb. That is all.

Hitmontop - Spiritomb.

Houndoom - Poliwrath resists unless it is carrying Hp grass/ electric. Rypherior could potentially wall and set up on it.

Kabutops - If it is in rain, I am in trouble. Sceptile should be able to ohko easily, however.

Lanturn - I might have a few issues with this thing. Sceptile is a very good counter to it, however.

Leafeon - Arcanine can outspeed it. Not too worried.

Ludicolo - Huge problem for this team. Mesprit could u turn to something that resists whatever set it is running, but if it gets off a swords dance, I have no idea how to stop it.

Mesprit - Spiritomb annihilates it.

Milotic - Poliwrath can set-up on it.

Miltank - Poliwrath can set up on it. No huge deal.

Mismagius - Spiritomb can deal with Mismagius.

Moltres - Can set-up Ryph and Poliwrath in most cases. HP moves might be my downfall though.

Nidoking - Mesprit, Poliwrath, and Ryph all carry super-effecive moves against it. Whatever variant it is, I have a solid counter.

Omastar - Sceptile. Heh.

Poliwrath - : Mesprit and Sceptile can KO most variants farly easily.

Regirock - Sceptile and Poliwrath outspeed it. Easily handled. Stealth rocks can be an issue.

Registeel - Set up magnet. Aside from that, Sceptile will generally 2HKO with Focus Blast.

Rhyperior - Sceptile and Poliwrath are both viable counters, unless it is a rock polish variant.

Rotom - Spritomb is a viable counter.

Sceptile - Arcanine will easily OHKO with Flare Blitz.

Scyther - Arcanine and Rypherior counter it to an extent. Ryph can set up on it, and Arcanine can OHKO with Flare Blitz

Slowbro - Set up tool for Poliwrath. Might be a problem if it spams curse. Trick on Mesprit will cure this too.

Slowking - Trick or set up with Poliwrath.

Spiritomb - Depending on the variant, mine can outstall others in a stall-war.

Steelix - Arcanine, Poliwrath, and Sceptile all pose threats.

Swellow - Can be stopped by Spiritomb. Walling Facades is a good thing.

Tangrowth - Arcanine can deal with these.

Torterra - Arcanine will deal with these, as long as he can score a OHKO. Ryph with Megahorn counters it as well.

Toxicroak - Mesprit can Zen Headbutt, Rpyh with a Rock Polish can OHKO with EQ.

Uxie - Killed by Spiritomb. Easily.

Venusaur - Arcanine can handle a revenge kill on this. Mesprit also hits with Zen Headbutt.

Weezing - Zen Headbutt on Mesprit and can be walled to a point by Poliwrath. No will-o-wisping my subs!

NU Threats

Articuno - KILL TI WITH FIRE! Literally. Arcanine is a good counter.

Cradily - Poliwrath should be able to KO it fairly easily... unless it has set up a ton of curses.

Exeggutor - Mesprit and Arcanine can handle this thing pretty well.

Jynx - Walled by spiritomb. Killed by Arcanine.

Kangaskhan - Spiritomb for the Returns and burns. OHKOd by a focus punch.

Lapras - Sceptile proves to be a solid revenge killer. Poliwrath could set up on it as well.

Manectric - Rypherior most likely. HP Grass could end me with a boost though...

Magmortar - Ryph or Poliwrath should be able to take it down.

Ninetales - Poliwrath can take a hit from a non-boosted Ninetales. Aside from that, a solid counter doesnt truly exist on this team. HP Grass is bad.

Pinsir - Taken down by Arcanine in most cases. Choice scarf variants will give me trouble.

Qwilfish - Can be set-up on by Poliwrath. If it goes boom, Spiritomb or Poliwrath make that a wasted turn/impossiblity.

Ursaring - Sub-Punch or a quick hit from any of my sweepers will more than likely take this thing down.

I'd opt for Flashfire > intimidate and Morning Sun > Iron head on CB arcanine. Improves longetivity and raw power if you predict right.

I agree with Nails that Water Absorb on Poliwrath is superior. It lets you come in on Kabutops and set up a sub while they can only hit you with a NVE attack (Stone Edge because no one runs Return). You can then proceed to set up a sub and wreck whatever comes in or the Kabutops if it stays in.
I would also recommend replacing your CB Arcanine with a Scarf Moltres. It resists a lot of things you are weak to (HP Grass) and can outspeed and kill the Pokemon wielding these moves. It can outspeed RP Ryperior with the boost, and OHKO it with HP Grass. It covers everything that Arcanine does plus more, like SD Drapion, Blaziken, Ninetales, Scarf Pinsir, and Ludicolo outside of Rain. It will also dent Regirock more than Arcanine.

Good suggestion with the Moltres. The only problem then would be stealth rocks. I think that can be overlooked to an extent though. My whole team is more or less resistant to them. Being Scarfed, it would be used to revenge kill at any rate.

I think i will run Water Absorb on Poliwrath as well. I realized that 25% hp on him is a pretty sizeable cunk.

I will ammend the team as soon as i find a good choice Moltres set.
