Lucario (♂) @ Salac Berry
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 6 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Aura Sphere
- Metal Sound
- Dragon Pulse
- Hidden Power [Electric]

Due to my intense hatred of Tyranitar starts, Gyarados starts, Garchomp starts, and Salamence starts, as well has having no good solution to cover these and most other starters, I put together this Lucario. Immune to Sand Stream, Lucario counters Tyranitar with no problem using Aura Sphere. All those pesky Dragons can be hit where it counts with Dragon Pulse; which while doing less damage to some than Ice Beam still hurts them. HP Electric for Gyarados and additional type coverage. Metal Sound to sweep more Bulky Pokémon. Salac to make the last hit count.

likely metal sound won't be that good on Lucario... you take a turn to metal sound what you need and you're looking at paralysis from Cresselia / Blissey and a Fire Punch / EQ from Snorlax.

Imo you'd have to use sub / endure for Salac, lucario's just too frail.

Um, if you can't KO the Pokes, which you can't, sans Tyranitar, don't you just get hit back for the OHKO and now you have a dead Lucario?

So, uh, why not just run a Scarf Lucario if you want a counter starter? You get the benefit of running Modest for the extra kick and you can take on much faster starters (Weavile, Gengar) as well. It's not like you're ever going to get much chance to use Metal Sound anyway. Or if you really think you can get off that Metal Sound, why not use Focus Sash?\

And you might as well run HP Ice, since you can't even OHKO Gyara using HP electric without any sort of attack boost. Ice at least lets you take out Garchomp and Salamence in one go.

First off, kudos for suggesting Metal Sound as that's the first time I've heard it mentioned on Lucario, but the set isn't great.

Dragon Pulse fails to KO Salamence, Garchomp or Dragonite and they will KO you straight back. Of course, you may not even get the chance to do the 80-ish percent because Sala and Garchomp may just outspeed and OHKO.

Gyara survives the HP and could go straight into a DD before KOing with Waterfall or EQ.

Your best chance of getting off Metal Sound is to come out on something that will flee from Blissey, Metal Sound the switch then hopefully be in a position to defeat one of Lucario's counters.

If you're intent on using it as a lead however, use Focus Sash to ensure you get to use Metal Sound.

Sounds like a choice band adamant mamoswine with ice shard, EQ and stone edge would suit your needs. It 1HKO's 3/4 of those pokes (before they hit you). The only problem is gyarados, which you can still beat head to head as you are both 2HKO to each other and you are faster. You're screwed though if he DD's so for that reason i'd suggest a seperate gyarados counter.

Metal sound lucario rocks. Blissey hates those aura spheres after -2SpDef drop. But I agree with MoP, this will just get ko'ed by gyara/garchomp eq. Specsluke is an awesome lead, but watch out for swampert.

If you want a pokemon that will scare of gyara/ttar/garchomp (btw i like never see garchomp leads but whatever) go with...
swampert@lefties
-ice beam
-eq
-hp electric
-stealth rock

makes a good starter.

You could always just use a Mesprit with Thunderbolt/Ice Beam/HP Fighting/Calm Mind and you'll get a sturdier Pokemon that does much the same thing.

Any Jolly Garchomp leads will outspeed you and OHKO you with EQ. And as Lee said, Dragon Pulse isn't a OHKO on the dragons if you're using a Timid nature along with a berry. Any of them can easily OHKO you with a fire or ground move.

Also, I doubt Gyara would be OHKO'd by HP Electric, and while I'm not 100% sure that he could OHKO you back, there's a good chance he could, or he could DD to outspeed you and get a sure KO.

This moveset might actually be decently effective in practice (I'd definitely drop HP Electric for Ice, though), but not at the things you're trying to use it for.

Garchomp will outspeed this set, since CB and SD Garchomp's run Jolly, and Adamant Garchomps run CS. You also fail to OHKO with Dragon Pulse. HP Electric fails to OHKO Gyarados, so you may as well use HP Ice.

Also, I don't see how Salac Berry is going to activate. While Lucario has great resistances, his defenses aren't that great. While he can take resisted hits, most things that hit for neutral damage will 2HKO or OHKO, and anything SE normally OHKO's. I don't see how you plan to activate the Salac Berry without Endure or Substitute.
