Stat boosters/reducers

I have no clue how much moves like Barrier or Curse actually increase/decrease the stats.

So my question is...

When a move increases a stat by one stage, how much does that actually increase the number by? Is it a percentage, or a set number?

Barrier increases your Def 2 stages, so it's + 100% = 200%. If you use it again, you'll reach 300% (200 + 100).

Curse increase your attack and defense one stage ( 50% = 150% on attack and defense) and lowers your speed on 33%.

Ask on the "Simple Question/Answer" thread next time.

-6 = 2/8 or *0.25 or /4
-5 = 2/7 or /3.5
-4 = 2/6 or *0.33333333333333333333333333333333333 or /3
-3 = 2/5 or *0.4 or /2.5
-2 = 2/4 or *0.5 or /2
-1 = 2/3 or *0.666666666666666666666666666666666666 or /1.5
+1 = 3/2 or *1.5
+2 = 4/2 or *2
+3 = 5/2 or *2.5
+4 = 6/2 or *3
+5 = 7/2 or *3.5
+6 = 8/2 or *4

I think

Curse increase your attack and defense one stage ( 50% = 150% on attack and defense) and lowers your speed on 33%.

I thought curse increases attack and defense by 2 stages, and lowers speed by 1 stage.

Bulk Up is 1 stage each, I know that for sure. I don't think it makes sense for Curse to only go up by 1 stage with the negative speed and all...

Curse is indeed just one stage. Keep in mind, it's available to Pokemon which Bulk Up is not, and -speed isn't generally a detriment to those Pokemon. Increasing the stage of curse would make the slow curse-set pokemon outrageously powerful.
