ORAS OU Sticky Webs !

Hello! I would very much appreciate if anyone could rate my team.

Masquerain

Masquerain @ Focus Sash
Ability: Intimidate
EVS: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Nature: Jolly
- Haze
- Sticky Webs
- Defog
- Tailwind

1)I selected Masquerain because I thought that the Pokemon would be unexpected in OU.
2)This Pokemons one job is to set out sticky webs at the beginning of the battle.
3)I have haze on it to defend against Pokemon that could be threats if they setup (ex: Gyarados, Talonflame, etc). Defog to deal with opposing hazards, and tailwind if I am backed against the corner with nothing left to do. The focus sash also helps it last an extra turn.

Sharpedo

Sharpedo @ Sharpedonite
Ability: Speed Boost (Strong Jaw in Mega Form)
EVS: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Nature: Adamant
- Protect
- Ice Fang
- Crunch
- Poison Fang

1)I choose Sharpedo because I wanted a water-type physical who could rack up speed easily while dishing out damage.
2)Sharpedo deals with Psychic, Leaf, Ground, Ghost, Dragon, Flying and can most of the time shut-down other Pokemon by out speeding them.
3)Since this Pokemon is of an Adamant nature it sometimes needs to depend on Masquerain's sticky webs. Protect the first turn for speed boost, mega evolve, and then using the appropriate fang-type move.

Serperior

Serperior @ Life Orb
Ability: Contrary
EVS: 4 HP / 252 SpAtk / 252 Spe
Nature: Modest
- Leaf Storm
- Giga Drain
- Hidden Power Fire
- Dragon Pulse
1)Serperior is a personal favorite, and I rely on him for being my main special attacker.
2)All Serperior needs to do is take out as much Pokemon as it can.
3) This Pokemon also may need to depend on sticky webs at some points. One of my strongest Pokemon, and once it gets going it is hard to stop.

Porygon 2

Porygon 2 @Eviolite
Ability: Download
EVS: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpAtk
Nature: Modest
- Tri Attack
- Psychic
- Discharge
- Recover
1)This Pokemon has been gold to me and has gotten me out of tight spots. It has the defenses, healing, and the power to sweep.
2)Porygon 2's role is to cover any weakness the team has, because it can deal with stallers, and it can definitely take a hit from physical and special Pokemon.
3)Tri Attack is used against stallers, and once a status effect has been bestowed, Porygon uses whatever move is most appropriate to deal with the Pokemon.

Infernape

Infernape @ Choice Scarf/Choice Band ???
Ability: Blaze
EVS: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Nature: Adamant/Jolly ???
- Earthquake
- Flare Blitz / Blaze Kick ???
- Close Combat
- U Turn
1)Solely used for dealing with steel types: Skarmory, Ferrothorn, Klefki, etc.
2)Infernape's role is to simply take down steel and defensive/sp defensive pokemon. Also, it covers Serperiors fire weakness with earthquake.
3)The type of move used on the opposing Pokemon depends on the typing (Fire against Leaf, etc). U turn can also be used to finish off Pokemon that are low on health and switch out safely.

Crobat

Crobat @ Leftovers/Black Sludge
Ability: Infiltrate
EVS: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Nature: Jolly
- Roost
- Taunt
- Brave Bird
- Toxic
1)This Pokemon is on my team because it is used to deal with substituters.
2)Crobat can shut down Pokemon, with its speed, that attempt to use Speed Boost+Substitute/Protect. Pokemon such as, Shedninja, and Scolipede.
3) Taunt or toxic to begin, brave bird, and then roost when needed. I don't really expect this Pokemon to last long though.

Well then

Im sry but tbh this team doesnt have synergy at all. None of your pokemons needs sticky web so i think its kinda a wasted slot.
And the whole Team doesnt work at all, sry but ill try to actually make it a team.

At first u need stealth rocks so i'd suggest u a defensive garchomp as ur lead. It checks talonflame, Mega scizor, victini, heatran etc etc. Its a good and annoying mon in general.

M sharpedo is a cool mon, ill build the Team around it since uve done it too. Adamant nature is fine but i would switch poison fang to warerfall. Water stab helps to beat grounds n rocks and otherwise u cudnt kill em.

Serperior is fine too because the main switch ins to this thing are dragons like latias for example but also steels and grass types. Serp helps to wear them down so Mega Sharpedo can sweep easier. Moveset is fine.

At next i'd remove this P2. Its an allrounder but on the other side it doesnt do anything for the team.
Id suggest u a steel type on this slot, a heatran would work well. Toxic/taunt helps to wear down keldeos, manaphys, water-mons in general. This is perfect for M-Sharp since it cant rly get past bulky waters without being scald-burned.

At this point u rly need something to beat LandorusT and infernape isnt the right mon for that i guess.
So i would suggest u a rotom-w. It Handles many physical attackers and it helps to keep up your Momentum with Volt switch. And the most common rotom-w switchins are grass-types. And the sweep with m sharpedo is a little bit easier to make again.

And as the last mon ill suggest u a scarf excadrill. It removes rocks and Spikes that would annoy u otherwise and it helps to beat Mega altaria with Iron Head. Also many people dont think well befor they click their move and they think ( oh its an excadrill, ill go to my rotomw to counter it ) and then mold breaker earthquake Hits them super effectively. Another thing that helps Mega sharpedo.

Yeah i hope i helped, i know that its basically a new team but (sry) ur old team wasnt good at all imo. Try to play a little not with this on the ladder and to find more things that are good against this team. Then ask for help again and there ll be at least a few answers again. Cya ^^

Hi. I'm sorry to say this, but since the team doesn't look so well, I'll have to make several changes to the team in order to improve it, and it might seem like I'd build a whole new team. I suggest you refer to the OverUsed forum for resources. You might also want to sign up for Battling 101 and ask a tutor to help you out. However, if you're still interested, then I'll go continue on with my advice.

First of all, you should be running Timid > Modest on Serperior. Timid allows Serperior can check its intended targets using its base 113 Speed - Mega Diancie, Keldeo, Latios, Latias, and Manaphy. Basically if you run Modest, you won't be able to check max speed base 100s.

Second, Masquerain isn't viable in OU, due to its poor stats and its inability to set up SR, which makes it pretty much a waste of team slot. In addition, you don't seem to have a setter for Stealth Rock. Generally, you shouldn't build a team without SR, as the chip damage can pressure opponents and hinder certain Pokemon such as Volcarona, Talonflame, Mega Pinsir, and Mega Charizard-X/Y. Also, I wouldn't run Defog on a Sticky Web team since it will also clear your Sticky Web. Therefore, I suggest running Shuckle > Masquerain. Shuckle has access to Sturdy (thus allowing it to run a Mental Herb to give it a second chance against Taunt users) and can set up Stealth Rock.

Shuckle @ Mental Herb
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
- Sticky Web
- Stealth Rock
- Encore
- Infestation

Before moving on, you should run Waterfall > Poison Fang on Mega Sharpedo, for the same reason as what Erz had suggested.

I suggest you try out Choice Scarf Tyranitar. It checks Mega Charizard-Y and Talonflame, which are two Pokemon that threaten your team, while serving as a decent revenge killer as well. However just like Erz said, Landorus-T and BirdSpam are problematic as well, so I suggest grabbing Physically Defensive Rotom-W. And just like Erz said, it also allows you to safely get Sharpedo in and have a better time setting up, while also getting Infernape in to scare away opposing Grass-types. Now, how are you going to fit TTar and Rotom-W in? Well, Sticky Web is a tool for offensive teams, so you might as well swap out Porygon-2 and Crobat.

Tyranitar @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stone Edge
- Crunch
- Pursuit
- Earthquake

Rotom-Wash @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Volt Switch
- Hydro Pump
- Will-o-Wisp / Thunder Wave
- Pain Split

*Optional: you could instead run 44 Speed EVs to outrun Jolly BD Azu, though nobody uses the latter anymore.

Meanwhile for Infernape, the most viable offensive set for OU is the MixApe set with Close Combat / Fire Blast / Gunk Shot / Grass Knot. MixApe provides nice surprise factor, able to nail some of its switch-ins. Gunk Shot lures Fairies such as Azumarill and Clefable, though you'll need to hit the former on the switch. On the other hand, I chose Grass Knot instead of HP Ice because you already have teammates to deal with Landorus-T, Gliscor, and Garchomp. Grass Knot is able to lure bulky Water-types and Hippowdon.

Infernape (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 100 Atk / 156 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Close Combat
- Fire Blast
- Gunk Shot
- Grass Knot

TL;DR
  • Waterfall > Poison Fang on Mega Sharpedo
  • Shuckle > Masquerain
  • Timid > Modest Serperior
  • Mixed Infernape
  • Physically Defensive Rotom-W > Porygon-2 or Crobat
  • Choice Scarf Tyranitar > Crobat or Porygon-2

One more nitpick - You shouldn't dump the remaining 4 EVs on HP. That will result in an even number, which will reduce the amount of times you'd be able to switch to SR. As I recall correctly, the damage is rounded down. For instance, Talonflame if has 298 HP for 4 HP EVs, the SR damage would be 149. With 0 EVs, it would get 297 HP, thus the SR damage is 148.

Again, I'm sorry for the big changes to the team. Try referring to the Viability Rankings for a list of Pokemon relevant to the OU metagame. In addition, you could also check out the Role Compendium and Checks Compendium to help you out.

Hope these all helped, good luck.
