Ayye. It's Cheek Pouch with my 2nd ever RMT. This is my first taste of ORAS OU since I wanted to do suspect testing for Greninja. This team did in fact help me get suspect requirements, which are here.

I went 41-17. Red box is me, blue box is me fangirling lol

Teambuilding Process

SR+3 Attacks Heatran is a pretty solid anti lead to defensive Landorus T. HP Ice does at minimum 86%, and with the Air Balloon, Earthquake can't touch me. Should it be a scarf set, I can scout the U-Turn and act accordingly.

Bird number 1. CB Talonflame hits really hard, and I don't see why I need to explain it, but ig I need 3 sentences lol. With a wicked speed tier and strong STABs, the fire bird can dismantle frail pokemon with ease. Gale Wings is awesome as well, with +1 priority to all flying moves.

Bird number 2. Mega Pinsir synergizes with CB Talonflame quite nicely. When one finishes breaking walls, the other sweeps (usually kek) STAB Aerilate Return/Frustration hits shit too damn hard after an often easy to obtain Swords Dance.

Bird number 3. Sub DD Gyarados is a threat, and often a good stop to Rain Teams. With solid bulk backed by intimidate, and solid offensive coverage, Gyarados has no problem ripping through teams after being set up.

Raikou is gaining momentum in the ORAS meta, being a good stop to Mega Slowbro and Thundurus, two of the biggest threats to BirdSpam. With a great speed tier and good SpA to back it up, Raikou is a good pivot into the two pokemon listed above.

Most know of my opinion of Starmie. I believe it is the best spinner in the game. With the same speed as Raikou, and packing Analytic, Starmie can greatly damage switch ins and spin away the Rocks that plague half this team.

@ Air Balloon
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Fire Blast
- Flash Cannon
- Hidden Power [Ice]

This is the Lead pokemon. Really charmer, he is. This is an underutilized set that I think should be used more often. Stealth Rock is obvious, being one of the most defining moves of Pokemon. Fire Blast is first STAB, hits shit hard as f and messes up with most leads (Skarm, Ferro) Flash Cannon is the 2nd STAB and basically catches whatever Fire Blast doesn't (Diancie) HP Ice is the big "oddball" of the set I suppose (it is getting kinda common) that maims lead Landorus-T, as well as Gliscor and Garchomp. With the Air Balloon, Landorus-T is pretty much useless against it. Lead/Defense variants are mauled by HP Ice as they set up SR, while Scarf variants are forced to U-Turn out or go for like Stone Edge. Superpower is rare as fuck, but it does make me cry ;-;7 EVs are standard, but I went for Timid to catch Metagross with a Fire Blast before it MEvos.

@ Choice Band
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Brave Bird
- Flare Blitz
- U-turn
- Steel Wing/Me First

Smogon bird ayye. Choice Band Talonflame really does hit hard. It functions primarily as a wallbreaker, but can soften done weaker pokemon to let a different "bird" do work. Brave Bird and Flare Blitz are standard STABs, the former getting priority thanks to Gale Wings. U-Turn allows Talonflame to pivot out against things it can't hurt and preserve momentum by allowing me to send out a more optimal Pokemon for the situation. Also forms a VoltTurn core with Raikou. Steel Wing is very weird, but since this was on the suspect ladder and Diancie was everywhere, it provided a quick dispatch for the diamond queen. I'm open to other moves in that last slot, but I've been playing around with Me First and have had pretty good effect with it.

@ Pinsirite
Ability: Hyper Cutter
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Return
- Close Combat
- Feint

Mega Pinsir is probably my favorite Mega of both XY and ORAS. The stag beetle is nothing short of a nuke, being able not only to dent things early game, but sweep late game as well. I went for Hyper Cutter over Moxie just to bop Landorus-T's trying to switch in (Since a +2 Return will OHKO) and just the more practical usefulness. EVs are standard as fuck, and the only thing really different is using Feint over Quick Attack. Although it is a tad bit weaker (59 BP vs 78 BP) Feint has +2 priority, beating out opposing Talonflame's Brave Bird and OHKO'ing after Rocks with +2, and killing when at +4. It also breaks Protect, which is helpful for stuff like Mega Beedrill and WishTect stalling.

@ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Substitute
- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall
- Bounce

The last "bird" in the trio, but this one kinda stands apart from the other two. Sub DD Gyarados is a solid answer to early game rain, and can easily steamroll through teams once set up. The reason why Gyarados isn't really tied in with the core is that it has better bulk than the two, and can afford to switch in and take a hit. Talonflame and MPinsir rely on each other to break their checks to allow the other to sweep, whereas Gyarados, in the wise words of Madea "can do bad all by himself". EVs are kinda standard, but some people run a bulkier spread (idk what it is. drop in comments maybe? :D) and I'll try it out. Substitute blocks status and weak attacks, DDance improves Attack and Speed, Waterfall is the main STAB and hits most shit, and Bounce nets extra Lefties + hits Ferrothorn harder.

@ Assault Vest
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Volt Switch
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Extrasensory

What shits on Birdspam? Thundurus. What shits on Thundurus? AVest Raikou. Raikou is actually pretty bulky, allowing me to switch into Thundurus and force it out with basically any move. Pressure is nifty to stall out some attacks. AVest allows me to take some hits from the likes of LO Latios, Specs Keldeo, etc etc. Thunderbolt is the main STAB and lets me hit basically whatever I need to hard. Volt Switch allows me to pivot out vs others. HP Ice hits the x4 resists and gives me psuedo BoltBeam coverage, and Extrasensory hits Fighting types and Poison types a little bit harder.

@ Life Orb
Ability: Analytic
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Scald
- Ice Beam
- Psyshock
- Rapid Spin

Best spinner in the game. No doubt about it. LO Starmie is just so freaking good. It stops non HP Electric Keldeo cold, and with Analytic, it is hitting all the switches super hard. For those that don't know, Analytic is a free Life Orb boost whenever I move last. While this seems counter-intuitive with such a high speed, it functions whenever anyone switches out. Basically two Life Orbs :D Scald burns stuff, Ice Beam hits Dragons, and Psyshock hits stuff on the physical side. All of these moves hit really hard, but nothing is more important than Rapid Spin, which takes away the hazards that o so plague my birdies.

Threats

Mega Sableye
- kinda scary, but it can be whittled down. With a few CM's up it is definitely a hassle to take down.

Shoutouts to come soon. Thanks for the read guys! Please leave CONSTRUCTIVE AND RELEVANT criticism. "MPinsir sucks this meta" and "Gyarados is a serpent not a bird lol" will just be ignored.

Edit 1: SHOUTOUTS!
