UU Stoutland

252+ Atk Choice Band Stoutland Return vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Slowbro: 165-195 (41.8 - 49.4%) -- 84.8% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock, sandstorm damage, and Leftovers recovery

mention that slowbro is a shakey counter and only works when sand is not up or if there's no rocks on the field

qc 1/3

More likely for rocks to not be up than sand when Dog is on field imo :o

Also Frustration > Return, js

Edit: Late but I'd add Choice Scarf Infernape as a check, since it outspeeds Adamant Dog even in Sand. It's the only common Scarfer that outspeeds anyway. It can also rk with Banded Iron Fist Mach Punch (doing around 75%), so it's another example of priority I guess. HypnoEmpire

Actually can you make Infernape its own section? You didn't write anything about Scarf Infernape being the only scarfer to outspeed Stoutland in the sand

add in sandstorm, and also add Vacuum Wave to the priority. Looks good someone else can give the 3rd QC check

**Infernape**: Infernape is the only relevant Choice Scarf user that can outspeed and OHKO Adamant Stoutland during a Sandstorm.

Lol I just realized I never QC'd this so I'm gonna give you one more task and that is to add Silk Scarf to OO, mentioning it in conjunction with Retaliate, as that is what I have been using to good success. Mention that Silk Scarf Retaliate hits harder than CB Return, but afterwards its Return is weaker, and its coverage hits like piss, although having the luxury to switch moves is cool.

Overview

Stoutland is definitelyone of the best sandstorm sweeper you cas in thope for in UU tier thanks to its ability Sand Rush, which gives it blistering Speed, c under Sandstorm. Combined this with its excellent base 110 Attack. It is so fast in the sand that it can reliably use an Adamant nature due to it outspeeding the entire unboosted tier, and you have a very fast and powerful Pokemon. Stoutland also has great coverage moveoptions and a very powerful STAB Return, making it an amazing revenge killer and late-game cleaner. It also has surprisingly good bulk, enabling it to take a hit or two if it needs to.

Unfortunately, Stoutland is entirely dependent on the sand; if the sand isn't up, then Stoutland is easily outsped by most threats. Stoutland also sufferstook a massive blow now that Sandstorm is no longer permanent. Nonetheless, Stoutland can make a great addition to any team given the right support, and is definitely a threat to be reckoned with.

move 4: Superpower / Pursuit / Wild Charge
ability: Sand Rush
item: Choice Band / Life Orb
nature: Adamant
evs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

Moves
========

AStoutland's STAB Return from Stoutlis very powerful and dealhits a ton of damalarge to anythingportion of that doesn't resist ite metagame. Crunch hits the Ghost-types that might try to switch inare immune to a Return, as well as being super effective against Metagross and Jirachi, common Steel-types in the tier. Fire Fang is useful to hit Forretress, who would otherwise try to walls Stoutland, while also hitting other Steel-types. It can run Superpower to hit other Steel-, Dark-, and Rock-types while also hitting, but be wary of the Dark-typedrops that run rampant exceptionally hardoccur. Pursuit can be quite handy to successfully revenge kill Victini after a V-cCreate, as well aslong with other Psychic- and Ghost-types that may feel threatened by Stoutland's presence. Wild Charge is a nice choice to hit bulky Water-types like Mega Blastoise and Milotic harder than its other coverage moves.

Set Details
========

The given EV spread enables Stoutland to outspeed everything up to Choice Scarf Mienshao while it's in the sand, as well as maximizeing its offensive potential. An Adamant nature is used to give Stoutland a bit more power; while a Jolly nature can be used, the extra Speed is usually unnecessary unless Choice Scarf Infernape is feared. Sand Rush gives Stoutland a huge boost in Speed while Sand it's in the sandunder effect. Choice Band is the preferred item as it lets Stoutland break through walls like Slowbro after some prior damage, but Life Orb can be used if switching moves is preferable at the cost of some power.

Usage Tips
========

Stoutland is dead weightnot very effective outside of the sand, so it should only be used on sSand teams. Use it as a revenge killer, then spam Return late-game. Stoutland shouldn't be taking too many hits, but it can come in on a neutral hit every once in a whilor twice.

Team Options
========

Hippowdon is a must be on the same team asfor Stoutland because it is the only Pokemon in UU with the ability Sand Stream. StatusA Will-O-Wisp absorbers like Guts Heracross can beis useful ifto take on Pokemon like Sableye tryhat threaten to burn Stoutland with Will-O-Wisp. It fits better on more offensively-oriented teams so it can take advantage of its role as a revenge killer. Pokemon like Rhyperior and Gastrodon fit well because they can take advantagare immune tof the sSand that Hippowdon bringsummons. Choice Band Stoutland wantappreciates bulkier teammates likesuch as Florges and Slowbro, as tohey can take hits for it when it needs to switch outon Fighting-type Pokemon; amongst other Pokemon.

Well, every offensive Pokemon wants this, so why mention it? Probably make it to resist Fighting-type moves.

Other Options
========

Play Rough can be used to hit Sableye and Fighting-types like Machamp, but it is usually a mediocre coverage option in every other waywise. A bulky Intimidate set may seem like an interesting option, but it lacks the support moves to effectively pull ithis off and it is outclassed by other Pokemon in this role. A Howl boosting set can be used, but it is unwise to waste turns boosting up when the sSand is limited. Retaliate can be ruan to make Stoutland a pure revenge killer, but it deals pathetic damage if an ally didn't faint the previous turn and it keeps Stoutland confined to one role. Silk Scarf is an nice option to bluff the Choice Band and power up Return and Retaliate, but Stoutland's coverage moves deal a pitifully low amount of damage.

Checks & Counters
========

**Hippowdon**: Physically Defensive Hippowdon can take any attack from Stoutland and stall it out with Slack Off and, Toxic, or Earthquake.

**Mega Aggron**: Mega Aggron takes a pitiful amount from Superpower and can retaliate with Thunder Wave or a powerful Heavy Slam.

**Slowbro**: If Stoutland lacks Wild Charge, then Slowbro can successfully wall Stoutland and threaten it out with Scald and gain its HP back with Slack Off. However, but it's a shaky counter and has a chance of getting 2HKOed after Stealth Rock and Sandstorm damage.

**Sableye**: ItSableye can take a Crunch or Wild Charge from Stoutland and burn it with a priority Will-O-Wisp.

These four just draw on, I'd suggest combining them to '**Physical Walls**'

**Infernape**: Infernape is the only relevant Choice Scarf user that can outspeed and OHKO Adamant Stoutland in the sand.

**Steel-types**: If Stoutland is banded, Steel-types like Jirachi and Metagross stop Stoutland from spamming Return and require prediction to hit super effectively.

**Rock-types**: If Stoutland is banded, Rock-types like Rhyperior and Mega Aerodactyl stop Stoutland from spamming Return and require prediction to hit super effectively.

**Ghost-types**: If Stoutland is banded, Ghost-types like Chandelure and Trevenant stop Stoutland from spamming Return and require prediction to hit super effectively.

These three are the same just copy and pasted, which is a no-no. Either combine them or rewrite them.

**Priority**: Powerful priority from Pokemon like Entei, Honchkrow, and Infernape can deal a considerably large amount of damage on Stoutland, especially the latter as it can hit Stoutland with a super effective Mach Punch. Special sets from Infernape and Lucario can also take advantage of Vacuum Wave to damage Stoutland.

**Opposing Weather**: Opposing weather can make Stoutland's role much more difficult. Abomasnow is the only Pokemon in UU that can causesummon a different weather effect with it's abilitimmediately, but other Pokemon like Sunny Day Houndoom can manually change the weather and reduce Stoutland's effectiveness.

Just address my comments under Checks & Counters and Team Options :).

Unfixable I don't think every offensive Pokemon wants bulky teammates. The fact that Stoutland is primarily banded means that a Pokemon that resists the hit can come in while most offensive Pokemon can just use a coverage move. Thank you for the check!

I just think that Florges and Slowbro are actually good partners, but when you say it like 'when it needs to switch out', it doesn't work; everything needs to switch out now and then.

I was doing a check ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;

in the moves section, 4th sentence, it's "stat drops", not "drops".

in usage tips, "spam" is a blacklisted tern so change it.

last thing in team options "Fighting-type Pokemon, amongst others".

"take advantage of using Vacuum Wave to damage Stoutland."

stamp the check otherwise GP 1/2
