Strength Sap heals Victreebel while lowering the foe's Attack, allowing Victreebel to check threats such as Gurdurr while easing the matchup against other threats like Skuntank. Leaf Storm and Sludge Bomb are Victreebel's STAB moves and offer decent offensive synergy. Hidden Power Fighting rounds off Victreebel's coverage, allowing it to hit Pokemon like specially defensive Alolan Sandslash. Alternatively, Hidden Power Rock hits Articuno and Oricorio-G, which would otherwise wall this set.

Chlorophyll, while situational, is Victreebel's only useful ability and helps against sun teams. Grassium Z, coupled with Leaf Storm, allows Victreebel to use Bloom Doom to heavily damage threats like Eelektross. It also does not trigger Leaf Storm's secondary effect of lowering Special Attack.
Usage Tips
========
Victreebel should primarily be used to wallbreak early- and mid-game and serve as a check to Pokemon like Lilligant and Poliwrath thanks to its typing. While Victreebel can switch into weaker resisted hits such as Lilligant's Giga Drain and Hitmonchan's Drain Punch, it should mainly be brought in with a slow U-turn or Volt Switch, as a revenge killer, or thanks to a smart double switch due to its rather poor bulk. It can also come in on passive Pokemon that can't hurt it or cripple it, such as Jellicent. Since the Z-Move can only be used once per battle, it should be used on a predicted switch against the likes of Skuntank and should be withheld from use if the opponent still has a solid check or counter like Altaria, as otherwise it could go to waste. Strength Sap is key to Victreebel's staying power and ability to consistently threaten balance teams. Therefore, it should be used against threats Victreebel checks like Gurdurr or on a predicted or forced switch to cripple an incoming threat like Skuntank.
Team Options
========
Entry hazard support is greatly appreciated, since it eases Victreebel's wallbreaking and makes it harder to switch into. Therefore, entry hazard setters like Froslass and Mudsdale make for good partners. Due to Victreebel's rather poor bulk, it appreciates being brought in with a slow U-turn or Volt Switch. Thus, users of these moves like Eelektross and Mesprit make for good partners. The latter also brings Stealth Rock and Healing Wish support, easing Victreebel's job and giving it a second chance of wallbreaking, respectively. Cleaners that appreciate Victreebel's wallbreaking make for good options. Hence, partners like Dodrio work well alongside Victreebel. Alolan Raichu appreciates Victreebel weakening or outright taking out Skuntank. Since Victreebel has a pretty poor Speed, faster Pokemon are decent teammates. Alolan Persian is especially notable due to its ability to bring Victreebel in safely with Parting Shot. Choice Scarf users like Mesprit and Manectric also pair well with Victreebel, and both can bring Victreebel in safely thanks to U-turn and Volt Switch, respectively. Finally, other wallbreakers work well alongside Victreebel due to their ability to overwhelm walls. Stoutland makes for an especially good partner, since Victreebel takes care of Stoutland's checks, such as Regirock and Mudsdale, while Stoutland takes advantage of Victreebel's checks like Audino.
