In a tier of baby Pokémon and forgotten middle children, Stunky tries its hardest to stand out [Revise flavor]. By utilizing its obnoxious defensive typing and further noxious movepool, Stunky can be a real stinker should one ever run afoul of it.

Dark Poison typing is among the best type combinations in the game, posessing valuable immunities, neutralities, and only one weakness to Ground-types. Despite Stunky's poor defensive stats, its typing in conjunction with Eviolite makes it tricky to OHKO from full HP, giving it opportunities versus even some of the tier's most prominent offensive pieces. And even when it does finally die, one must be careful not to trigger its ability Aftermath, which can leave a nasty surprise for any opponent who dares get too close.

Stunky finds opportunities versus the tier's Psychic, Ghost, Grass, and even Poison-types. It can pivot in on Hattrem's Psychic, Dusclops' Rest, Thwackey's Grassy Glide, and Koffing's Sludge Bomb.

Knock Off - often jokingly referred to as an OHKO move - only further garners that reputation in a tier where a supermajority of item choice is Eviolite. Unlike a majority of other Knock Off-users however, Stunky’s Dark STAB allows it to wield the move as a full-fledged attacking move versus the tier’s prominent Psychic and Ghost-types, such as Hattrem and Dusclops. That very Dark STAB also allows Stunky to be one of the few users of Sucker Punch - a valuable trait in a tier where Drakloak is one of the premier speed control options.

Knock off is a powerful move in a tier where a supermajority of item choice is Eviolite. It allows Stunky to rapidly force progress into resists and even the sturdiest physical walls. Furthermore, Stunky's Dark STAB allows it to not only use Knock Off as a utility move, but also as a genuine attacking option, able to still deal considerable damage after an opposing Pokemon's item gets knocked off. In particular, Stunky can threaten large amounts of damage versus aformentioned Ghost and Psychic-types, and often uses them as openings to enforce progress. Stunky's Dark STAB also allows it to be one of the very few users of Sucker Punch which can be crucial for dealign with Drakloak.

Gunk Shot is a powerful attack that hits much of the tier for neutral damage and has a high chance to poison. It hits Ivysaur pretty hard especially after knocking it off.

Temper Flare is there to hit Tinkatuff.

Stunky's largest detriment is its lack of longevity and liability to get worn down incredibly quickly. While there's not much that can OHKO stunky from full, that quickly changes once Stunky either loses its eviolite or even just takes 2 rounds worth of Stealth Rock chip damage. Stunky can force openings versus Monferno and even Pignite, wallbreakers who lack supereffective coverage for Stunky, however it ceases to be able to do so very quickly, so its imperative one makes the most of Stunky's untouched bulk in the early game.
