Su(b)perior Sweep ?!

dpmba286.png
@ Focus Sash
Ability: Effect Spore
252 ATK / 252 SPE / 6 DEF
Nature: Jolly (+Spe -Spa)
  • Spore
  • Stun Spore
  • Mach Punch
  • Seed Bomb
Breloom is a great and unexpected lead, as well as giving my opponent two crippled pokemon and a dead swampert early game. Spore is a 100% sleep move, which is really great. Stun Spore, takes the cake with super fast pokemon at high speeds, and Mach Punch is for Lucario not to sweep and 6-0 my team. Seed Bomb is for STAB, but manhandles Swampert.

Ability: Sand Stream
252 ATK / 232 SPA / 24 SPE
Nature: Brave (+Atk -Spe)
  • Crunch
  • Substitute
  • Thunderbolt
  • Flamethrower

dpmba464.png
@ Leftovers
Ability: Solid Rock
132 ATK / 192 ATK / 16 SpD / 168 SPE
Nature: Adamant (+ATK -SPA)
  • Substitute
  • Swords Dance
  • Stone Edge
  • Earthquake
These two work well in conjunction very well. Tyanitar puts Sand Storm into play and takes care of Rhyperior's main threats. Tyranitar, who is the first up in this combo, lures out Scizor, Skarmory, Lucario, etc. very well, as Expert Belt and Crunch work as if Tyranitar had a Choice Band set. The ATK EVs 2HKO Celebi, and Rock Slide works very well with a lot of paralysis support; paraflinch and a reliable hitting STAB move. Flamethrower is to catch Scizor, Lucario, and Skarmory on the switch, as I'm safe behind a substitute. This also takes the toll on Stall Teams, which Rhyperior can somewhat hate.

Rhyperior is the main offence of the combo. With 404 Substitutes alike Tyranitar, Blissey with Sesimic Toss nor Ice Beam cannot break its substitutes in sand storm, making Blissey setup fodder (which is why Tyranitar lacks Focus Punch). Rhyperior has great offensive typing, with yeilds STAB EdgeQuake and a 400 (800 after an SD) Attack Stat. There are lots of things too say about this Rhyperior, you can see for yourself here.

Rhyperior and Tyranitar together might have lackluster weaknesses to Grass, Water, and Fighting, as well as 3/4s of the combo has Physical Moves, but they work great together. All of the other things are handled by other pokemon in the team.

dpmba251.png
@ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
252 HP / 220 DEF / 36 SPE
Nature: Bold (+Def -Atk)
  • Recover
  • Grass Knot
  • Earth Power
  • Thunder Wave
Celebi takes a lot of roles here, as a physical wall, fighting/ground resist, and handles with paralysis support. I also needed to cover Gyarados well along with a revenge killer, so I could take care of Gyarados in any situation. I would put Occa Berry instead of Leftovers, but there's two reasons why not to: 1. Sandstorm, and 2. Rotom-W takes care of ScarfTran and Infernape. Psychic is on this set and not Leech Seed nor Reflect, as I need something to deal with Machamp with Payback and other fighters like Breloom.

@ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
252 SPA / 252 SPE / 6 DEF
Nature: Modest (+Spa -Atk)
  • Trick
  • Thunderbolt
  • Shadow Ball
  • Hydro Pump
Rotom-W is a superb revenge killer. With resistances and immunities to ground and fighting, as well as revenge killing ScarfTran and Infernape with ease, this is a real asset to the team. Thunderbolt also guarentees that Gyarados won't be running rampant with the Rocky duo, and Skarmory won't be walling it either. Shadow Ball is for STAB, and can take out any Gengar still in OU without Substiute easy. Trick is filler, but can mess up some teams that might be extremely annoyed by a Choice Scarf on something like their Swampert.

I thought about putting something like Thunder Wave on this thing, but it seems pretty iffy as mostly ground types would switch in, but it can be worth a shot. HP Ice could also be an option for Salamence, but Adamant Salamence reaches 299 speed, and Timid Rotom-W reaches 298 speed =/.

dpmba227.png
@ Shed Shell
Ability: Keen Eye
252 HP / 252 DEF / 6 ATK
Nature: Impish (+Def -Spa)
  • Roost
  • Whirlwind
  • Stealth Rock
  • Brave Bird
Basic utility and Outrage resist here. Unfortunately, Skarmory can't do much to Salamence, except Stealth Rock and phaze it away. I really needed some kind of Phazer, basically for Suicune, and this was the best steel type that is immune to ground to do it. Brave Bird is a good STAB attack, I find Drill Peck very lackluster at many times. Roost is blatantly obvious, for recovery.

So that's my team. Rip it apart, please.

is it just me or does a choice scarf on breloom make zero sense what-so-ever... i mean the whole point of spore is to put the opponent asleep instantly and then sweep... but if you have a scarf what are u gunna do? put em to sleep twice?

ima also not a fan of 2 choice items on one team. and trick doesnt make sense on a pokemon with a CS on.

your team also has a big swampert problem. t-tar and ryperior are very similar and i think you could get aLOT more coverage if you took out one of them. i would suggest takeing out t-tar only because perior has good tanking abilities, and i would replace it with either a sweeper or a PHazing tank like starmie or swampert(who could also start your battles.)

Scarf on Breloom means he can't change attacks... therefore no "2 crippled and a dead Pert" for you, only 1 of these 3 can happen. lose the Scarf

TTar + Rhy isn't that great IMO. similar role, weaknesses and attacks

Hello Franklin.

For starters, Choice Scarf does not seem to be the most effective item on your lead Breloom. With it, you are almost completely nullifying the usefulness of Double Powder; to sleep an opponent then status the next switch in. Considering Heatran and other hard-hitting leads seem to be quite common nowadays, I would recommend running a Focus Sash to ensure this strategy always works out. Moving on to your offensive core in Tyranitar and Rhyperior, there isn't much to say that you haven't already said. I would personally go for Stone Edge's raw power over that of Rock Slide's any day, however this is mainly a decision local to the player.

In my experience with Scarfed Rotom-formes, Trick has always been the most beneficial choice in that slot. This is especially true to your team, where disabling Swampert (who always seems eager to switch in on all Rotom-formes) is really beneficial for Rhyperior's and Tyranitar's sweeping. Trick, in conclusion, is the best option in this slot. I would like to hear a bit more about Skarmory's use before I make any comments on it. It would seem that a more offensive Steel-type like Heatran would allow you to keep stride in the match, and Celebi, Rotom, and Breloom already absorb Earthquake fairly well. This might also help versus some Fire attackers, which your team looks to have a bit of trouble absorbing. Anyway, back to the point of Heatran, a set that set up Stealth Rock, attacked a bit, and Exploded on a bulky water would be really beneficial. It not only clears counters for your Rock-types with Explosion, but can also give your team some Special Attacking force. An example set would be something like:

Heatran @ Life Orb
Hasty - Flash Fire
56 Atk / 200 SpA / 252 Spe
Stealth Rock
Fire Blast
Earth Power / Roar
Explosion

Anywya, try some things out and have fun!

Yeah, Scarf Breloom makes no sense by itself and when you mention Mach Punch in the moveset makes less sense lol. If you are looking for a fast revenge killer, status absorber, quick Sleep Inducer and easy Swampert killer here it is:

i_roserade.gif

Roserade @ Choice Scarf
Nature: Timid
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 4 HP/ 252 SpAtk/ 252 Spd
Moveset:
- Sleep Powder
- Leaf Storm
- Sludge Bomb
- HP Ice

In my opinion, its a great lead, it induces sleep quickly, can kill some of the most common Leads and not only that but later it can become a revenge killer and also an status absorber due to Natural Cure.

Timid might seem stupid but with it Roserade is sure to outrun the standard DD Mence after one DD and then 1HKO it back with Hidden Power [Ice] even with no SR damage.

Moveset, spread and idea thanks to Scofield.

Hrm.. your lead Breloom looks good; I haven't seen Double Powder utilized too much. I would drop Mach Punch on Breloom; your Rotom already does a nice job of revenging Lucario, and Breloom likely won't be alive by the time you need it. Looked at a damage calc:

Jolly Breloom Mach Punch on 4 Hp/0 Def Lucario: 63.83% - 75.18%
Jolly Breloom Mach Punch on 4 Hp/0 Def Lucario after 1 CC: 94.68% - 111.35% (About 60% to OHKO).

Adamant Lucario ExtremeSpeed on 0 Hp/4 Def Breloom after 1 SD + LO: 101.92% - 119.92% (OHKO)

Not much use. Therefore, I'd replace it with either Leech Seed, Sky Uppercut/Brick Break/Super Power, or Stone Edge.

What set is that Tyranitar running? It looks almost like a TyraniBoah; you have a SpD boosting nature, but no SpD EVs. Typo? I don't really know what to recommend on him, not knowing your purpose for him. Is he bait to get rid of Rhyperior's counters? If so, I would change him to this set:

Tyranitar (Sand Stream) * Life Orb
Brave ( +Atk / -Spe)
252 Atk / 232 SpA / 24 Spe
-Crunch
-Flamethrower/Fire Blast
-Earthquake/Stone Edge/Thunderbolt
-Substitute/Filler

Lures in Rhyperior's counters: Bulky Waters, Scizors, and bulky Tanks in general, before eating them alive with SE attacks. Once Tyranitar goes down, at least 1 of your opponent's counters to Rhyperior should be trampled into submission, as well.

On Celebi, I'd drop Psychic for HP Fire, Ice, or Earth Power; Celebi just screams to Scizor and Heatran "switch in on me!" That said, both of the above mentioned Pokemon counter Rhyperior to some extent, as well.

Rotom looks good; I don't like Skarmory, however. I suppose you need SR somewhere on your team; if you could fit it o Celebi (over Psychic, perhaps), I would switch it to either Suicune or Vaporeon; both draw electric attacks like crazy, giving you a free switch in to Rhyperior.
