Sun Charade

Hello all. Welcome to my first ever competitive team. I've had moderate success and losses down to user error more than anything else. I'm trying to capitalize on an idea I had however and I was wondering if anyone had improvement suggestions.

As you might be able to tell by the title this team capitalizes on sun. The twist however is in the threat. The real threat of this OU team is an NU pokemon, Tropius. I love the sprite but the harvest stall is excellent and is why he is on my team. However I feel that some things still show my rookie nature and this is where I need help, E.g. fire blast or overheat?

Anyway on to the team, which is entry hazard weak, I know. however I need a solution that works with sun.

Tropius@harvest
252hp/252+def/4sdf/-atk
sitrus berry

-protect
-substitute
-leech seed
-air slash

Tropius is the main trump card. Because he is very rare he is an Unknown. this means people may not know his move set or ability but more importantly his bulk. The opponent will hopefully underestimate his defences or switch out allowing me to get a sub, now the fun begins by mixing between leech, sub, protect the opponent is easily caught unaware. even in a dangerous encounter with a plus 3.5 quiver dance volcarona fell to air slash after a roost. tropius is the charade, and a surprisingly reliable one.

nine-tails@drought
252hp/120def/136+spd/-atk
leftovers

-will-o-wisp
-flamethrower
-sunny day
-roar

standard nine-tails made to set up sun for abusers or hit with a surprisingly powerful sun boosted flamethrower. roar is for dugtrio whilst will-o-wisp on TTar is very useful.

Charizard@solar power
4def/252spatk/252+spd/-atk
choice specs

-overheat/fireblast
-solarbeam
-Hp ice
-air slash

Overheat + coverage. the metaphorical truck of the team, and it hurts, Overheat in the sun can kill a gastrodon with assumed 252hp/172spdef. the real benefit is that Charizard causes switches, choice specs kill switch ins.

Venusaur@chlorophyll
92atk/252spatk/164+spd/-spdef
life orb

-giga drain
-sludge bomb
-earthquake
-growth

Growth improves both stats so use both. growth on the switch hit hard on the next turn my biggest fear is specs politoed ice beam but venausaur serves a different purpose on this team, fear mongering. Venausaur appears to be the real threat, and of course he is but surprisingly enough sending in tropius instead of venusaur can really mess with my opponents mind and allow my sub to get up.

Mamoswine@thick fat
252hp/252+atk/4def/spatk-
leftovers

-icicle crash
-ice shard
-earthquake
-stealth rocks

If I can take out dragons one of my teams biggest weakness is removed. Charizard fears scarfers thogh so mamoswine ice shard fit the bill. stealt rocks are a move if I can force a switch that I will abuse. speed isn't needed so I put 252 hp instead (don't know if this is the best decision.)

Dugtrio@arena trap
252atk/4def/252+spd/-spatk 21 hp IVS
focus sash

-EQ
-reversal
-Sucker punch
-stone edge

the anti weather, trapping any weather abuser can provide me with the key advantage and if nothing else he can do this. reversal is incredibly powerful If I can avoid stealth rocks however opposing lead TTars are immeadietly trio'd meaning even with stealth rocks I score one KO.

their you have it, please be as critical as suitable. If you think it is an utter failure I'm still learning. thanks.

I really like the use of Tropius in your team; however, there are some changes that could be made to improve the effectiveness of your team.

First thing that definitely needs to go is Charizard (admit it, we've all tried it). Charizard is always a questionable choice in OU; however, without a spinner his survivability is next to zero, and he will be complete dead weight against opposing rain and sand teams.

Since most of your remaing pokemon are weak to rocks, I recommend replacing him with a spinner - specifically, a Forretress. Forretress can spin and lay hazards, and can switch into dragons better than anything else on your team.

Other than that, I can only offer minor changes: making Mamoswine's item a Focus Sash to guarantee rocks, and give him max speed over max HP (his stats and typing leave him hard-pressed to take many hits anyway).

I hope you try out my suggestions, and have fun with your team!
