Hello, this is my first RMT and it's not really anything special. I made this team and hit Master Ball 2 with it, but it's definitely lacking a bit of sauce somewhere. I figured that the bright minds of smogon would have some feedback on how to improve it. I definitely think it's not optimal, especially since you can kind of get away with having one or two Pokemon that aren't exactly pulling their weight or have whack movesets to catch people by surprise in bss.

Charizard-Mega-Y @ Charizardite Y
Ability: Drought
Level: 50
EVs: 32 SpA / 2 SpD / 32 Spe
Timid Nature
- Weather Ball
- Solar Beam
- Air Slash
- Focus Blast
Mega Charizard-Y is a pokemon that I think is definitely pretty solid with Mega Golisopod being a constant looming threat, I specifically put it in over my own Mega Golisopod because I kept losing to it and wasn't picking Mega Golisopod that much. Good Fire-type coverage in the current regulation is kind of hard to come by, especially when Pelipper and Archaludon exist which is why I usually like using it. It definitely struggles into Garchomp and Mega Garchomp though, the latter of which whom I think is slightly slept on right now. I'm sure there's a smart way to EV this thing so it beats Mega Lucario or Baxcalibur consistently but I've kinda just been running it as is.
Meowscarada @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Protean
Level: 50
EVs: 2 HP / 32 Atk / 32 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Flower Trick
- U-turn
- Triple Axel
- Throat Chop
Meowscarada was mainly put in out of spite against people running Indeedee and as a form of an emergency check to +1 Mega Salamence and Basculegion. It unfortunately can be a bit too easy to play around though, since usually your opponent will already know what set you're running and you don't know what they might be. Meowscarada is still Meowscarada so you can still outplay, but the information difference tends to put pressure on you to get your turns right due to Choice Scarf. I'm not the biggest fan of this mon despite its uses because while it checks those two said mons, your opponent is aware and will usually have a good switch.
Gholdengo @ Air Balloon
Ability: Good as Gold
Level: 50
EVs: 2 HP / 32 SpA / 32 Spe
Timid Nature
- Make It Rain
- Shadow Ball
- Nasty Plot
- Recover
The golden menace has a pretty good niche since Meowscarada and Hydreigon is a lot harder to bring currently with all the Mega Golisopods and Salamences right now. It also happens to do well against Mega Golisopod and Archaludon and other high defense threats like Hippowdon. It does kinda ok into Mega Lucario-Z at times, but usually the ones I run into have Dark Pulse and you just get kind of steam rolled. Gholdengo is a good wallbreaker and its ability is broken. Need to be careful of Roar Hippowdon though with this team and it becomes significantly weaker without Air Balloon. SD Mega Golisopod can be a nuisance tho, I've had several cases where I fenangled my way out by just guessing when my opponent wouldn't sucker punch, meaning this team is definitely not consistent.
Primarina @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Torrent
Level: 50
EVs: 32 HP / 2 Atk / 32 SpA
Modest Nature
- Moonblast
- Sparkling Aria
- Encore
- Aqua Jet
Primarina is an amazing Water special attacker, it's hard to find others that can compete with it in its niche since its a good special tank and has good coverage. I find myself picking it quite often due to Garchomp, Hippowdon, Golisopod, Baxcalibur, and Mega Lucario-Z since it can usually get nice chip damage. It's just a really good mon in a lot of situations. It's unfortunately a bit prone to being OHKOed by physical attackers like Mimikyu after they set up though, so you will have to take that into consideration.
Salamence-Mega @ Salamencite
Ability: Aerilate
Level: 50
EVs: 1 HP / 32 Atk / 1 SpD / 32 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Roost
- Double-Edge
- Earthquake
Not much to say about Mega Salamence, this thing got released and started exerting instant pressure on the metagame. Intimidate is good, it's Attack stat is insane, and it has pretty good bulk. I think it's one of those pokemon that you always have to be wary of, and it wins 1v1s against most physical attackers. Mega Golisopod, Baxcalibur, Mega Metagross, and Corviknight could probably cause it problems but that's what Charizard is for (Charizard doesn't really solve Baxcalibur though.) Mega Metagross and Baxcalibur would probably be the most problematic.
Archaludon @ White Herb
Ability: Sturdy
Level: 50
EVs: 32 HP / 32 SpA / 2 SpD
Modest Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Thunderbolt
- Flash Cannon
- Draco Meteor
Archaludon still remains the goat. Similarly to Primarina, it's a good check into a ton of the annoying dragons, it can get up hazards, it has good coverage, and it has good bulk. It could probably be even better if I actually ran calcs and did one of those hyper diversified spreads that lives everything and had stamina. As it currently is though, I think of it as a mon to trade for one of your opponents' to bring the game down to a 2v2. Preserving sturdy is quite important, which is why I'm sure stamina sets may have a higher ceiling for gameplay. It's coverage is slightly lacking though, as often you'll find yourself in a game where you wish you had fire coverage for Mega Golisopod but you didn't bring Mega Charizard cos you wanted Salamence.
For this team's weaknesses, I think the following pokemon can cause it trouble: Mega Lucario-Z, Mimikyu, Mega Metagross, Mega Garchomp, Mega Golisopod, Focus sash users like Pawmot or Mamoswine
My current issues with it mostly come from not being able to bring Fire-type coverage and Mega Salamence at the same time. Meowscarada and Mega Charizard-Y would probably be the biggest targets for me to change.
