A.INTRODUCTION
Hello, I am SNAK30PRA and I am posting this thread to show a fun National Dex team I made, with the help of adem , and climbed to 1573 elo on the National Dex ladder, feel free to share any ways you think the team can be better. I also named this team, "Super Idol" to match the song/meme, and it's pretty epic, but you can simply just refer to this team as WebsGoon.
B.TEAMBUILDING PROCESS
+
: My main inspiration for creating this team, Obstagoon can deal big damage with Guts, but is a bit too slow, so I added Shuckle as a lead to make Obstagoon become faster than more Pokemon if they are affected by Sticky Web.
+
+
: Serperior has quite a normal set, and can sweep teams with Leaf Storm and Hidden Power Fire to kill Scizor easily, while also being quite a meme if you switch it on time for an opponent's Defog, so its a mix of a sweeper and a Meme Pokemon.
+
+
+
: Manaphy is a special sweeper if used correctly, with combination of Tail Glow and Surf, with coverage such as Ice Beam and Psychic.
+
+
+
+
: Mega Charizard X is a Dragon Dance Sweeper with big damaging moves like Flare Blitz, Dragon Claw and Earthquake, which some of them has boosted attack thanks to Tough Claws. Mega Charizard X can also be a switch-in from Manaphy to grass moves if the opponent is faster than Manaphy or Manaphy does not do enough and the opponent can kill it with a grass type move.
+
+
+
+
+
: Lastly, Thundurus is crucial as another Special Sweeper and is another switch in from Manaphy for grass type moves.
C.TEAM ANALYSIS
Shuckle @ Mental Herb
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Stealth Rock
- Sticky Web
- Encore
- Final Gambit
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Shuckle can spread the hazards of Stealth Rock and Sticky Web onto the playing field, alongside Encore and Final Gambit to mess around with the opponents, locking them into position for several turns or just Kamikaze yourself onto the opponent. 252 HP and Max Defence means there is no way you will fall that easily to Physical attackers, and can survive several Special Attacks, and Sturdy if it does end up getting killed in one turn.
Obstagoon @ Flame Orb
Ability: Guts
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Knock Off
- Bulk Up
- Facade
- Obstruct
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Obstagoon deals big damage thanks to Guts, and STAB Facade, alongside with decent Attack and Speed, its truely a match made in heaven, Knock Off is good for removing the opponents item, while having good damage in the mix, Bulk Up is good for setting up on a free turn and Obstruct is a better protect, which can decrease the attackers defence if it is a contact move.
Serperior @ Leftovers
Ability: Contrary
EVs: 56 HP / 200 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Leaf Storm
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Glare
- Substitute
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Serperior is a pretty meme pokemon, when it starts going, it never stops, until it is walled by a Heatran, but other than that, it can sweep countless teams just by spamming Leaf Storm and coverage Hidden Power Fire, Serperior also can Substitute to predict a status move and Glare to hope RNG is on your side and lets you get off a substitute, which can also mean they need a compulsory one or more extra hits before knocking it out.
Manaphy @ Wacan Berry
Ability: Hydration
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Psychic
- Tail Glow
- Ice Beam
- Surf
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Manaphy has great stats across the board, and with the addition of Tail Glow, it is truly a force to be reckoned with, where it can sweep countless with Surf alone, and the addition of Psychic and Ice Beam for more coverage, it can also live some electric moves with the help of the Wacan Berry and often relies on teammates for Grass moves incoming.
Charizard-Mega-X @ Charizardite X
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Flare Blitz
- Earthquake
- Dragon Claw
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mega Charizard X is a tradition Dragon Dance Sweeper with good Attack and Speed, and does the Dragon Dance sweeping well, it has quite the things to offer like Tough Claws boosted Flare Blitz and Dragon Claw, with an additional Earthquake coverage for things like Heatran, while being an incoming grass move switch in for Manaphy.
Thundurus (M) @ Fightinium Z
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Thunderbolt
- Focus Blast
- Nasty Plot
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thundurus is a great special attacker, the combination of Nasty Plot and a very good movepool, can leave holes in the opposing teams, some might even consider it a sweeper, it can also have a very low chance to kill Blissey with Focus Blast Z move with the help of a single Nasty Plot, it is also additionally another incoming grass move switch in for Manaphy.
D.THREAT LIST
There are not many threats to this team that meets the eye but the most noticable one (to me) being Latios
:
This Jet Engine does not get slowed down by Sticky Web due to Levitate, and the combination of Calm Mind makes it a real challenge to face, it can also be a threat to one of the only hope, Obstagoon, with the access to Aura Sphere.
How Do We Counter It?
One of the ways I came to deal with it is to simply Glare the Latios with Serperior, leaving it slower than Obstagoon and Manaphy can also have a chance to kill it with Ice Beam coverage.
