Welcome to Pools Round 1 of the Survivor and 1v1 rooms' collaborative Metronome 1v1 tournament! Put your skill and luck to the test for a grand custom avatar prize! Battles will take place amongst 64 pools. The 2 users to beat the most amount of members of their pool move on to round 2 of pools! In this thread, you will find the pool that you have been assigned to.

We will be keeping track of wins/losses in this spreadsheet. Please feel free to reach out to a host if there is a mistake.

Tournament Rules:
  • General tournament rules and regulations can be found here.
  • Each matchup will be held as a best of three. You may change teams between games.
  • Battles must take place on main server or on smogtours.
  • Replays will be required.
  • All Pokémon must be level 100.
  • The tournament will follow [Gen 9] 1v1 rules, except each Pokémon can only use metronome.
  • [Gen 9] 1v1 rules allows you to bring 3 Pokémon to preview and then pick 1 to battle with. Use /tier 1v1 for more info on its ruleset.
  • Pokémon who can't naturally learn metronome can still use it in this tournament.
  • In addition to [Gen 9] 1v1 rules, the abilities Pressure, Truant, Toxic Chain and Cursed Body are banned; and the items Leftovers, Black Sludge, Assault Vest, Toxic Orb and all healing berries are banned.
  • Any ties in a pool will be broken with a best-of-three roll battle in Survivor. All tiebreaker roll battles will be held together as a scheduled event in the Survivor room (date/time TBD).
  • Player drops will be treated as though the player did not join, so all games involving players no longer participating in the tour will be voided. EDIT (3/16/25): We're making a last second amendment to the drop out rule. If a player in your pool already participated in matches, but then later decided to drop out, then their unfinished matches will be marked as forfeits rather than voids. The only way a dropped player's matches will be voided is if they didn't participate at all.
    • There are 2 main reasons for this change: 1) it would not be fair to the other players who already did those matches to now not get the result, and 2) this is more consistent with how forfeits have been handled thus far, as there is functionally no difference between players deciding to drop out versus give their opponents wins individually.
  • If you have any questions about the rules or otherwise, you can post on this thread and one of the hosts will try their best to get back to you asap!

Challenge code: /challenge gen91v1 @@@ !obtainable moves, -all moves, +move:metronome, -pressure, -truant, -cursed body, -toxic chain, -leftovers, -black sludge, -assault vest, -toxic orb, -oran berry, -sitrus berry, -aguav berry, -enigma berry, -figy berry, -wiki berry, -iapapa berry, -mago berry

PLEASE READ BELOW: REGARDING ACTIVITY CALLS / FAILURE TO COMPLETE MATCHES
Due to the large number of players participating in this tournament, any matches that are not completed by the deadline will be voided by default, regardless of timezone conflicts or attempts to contact. We encourage you to reach out to all opponents as early as possible (ideally publicly on their user profile) to complete your games in a timely manner.

The ONLY way get an activity win if your opponent misses the match or fails to respond before the deadline is by reporting it through this Google form: https://forms.gle/c1mZvxCNmT3jUALC6. The deadline to submit this form for Pools Round 1 is Sunday, March 16th, 23:59 GMT-6 (the same as the deadline to complete all matches).

We follow the general tournament guidelines for activity judgments here: https://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/tournament-rules-and-general-guidelines.3642760/post-8529717. Any games that are not completed by this deadline without a corresponding report in this form WILL be voided without exception, regardless of whether you have attempted to contact your opponent.

Pools Round 1 ends Sunday, March 16th at 23:59 GMT-6.

2 Big Questions because I am a super duper extra smogon/showdown noob-
・how do I enter my specific pool to play games?
・how do i implement the challenge code to play the games?
Apologies for my lack of knowledge on this front
You're good don't worry!
- Once you find your name in the list of pools you'll see a bunch of other people there, you can reach out to them on smogon (by posting on their profile) to figure out a time for you to play against each one. You play against all the other people in your pool once, in a best of 3 format (max. 3 games, the first to win 2 wins the match).
- To implement the challenge code, copy paste the below command into the PM box of your opponent on pokemon showdown (you can find the private chat with them by clicking "find a user" and typing their username, or clicking their username in the user list of any chatroom if they are in them. If you're not sure what someone's PS username is you can usually find it on their profile, or you can ask for it when contacting them.

Is there a requirement of bo1 or can each pairing use their own discretion?
It's all bo3s
