The 2v2 Doubles Council has elected to suspect test Chi-Yu.

Reasoning:

Chi-Yu has been viewed as one of the restrictive top-tier threats of SV 2v2 Doubles for a while now. Its ability in Beads of Ruin provides immense utility in providing offensive pressure that has become rather constraining to account for in the teambuilder. This doesn't only just come from itself, whose Beads of Ruin boosted STABs such as Dark Pulse and Heat Wave are already damaging by themselves, but also with partners such as Flutter Mane, Iron Bundle, and Iron Valient, who pair exceptionally well due to the fact that they also have their special attacks boosted by the ability. For the Pokemon that do have the special bulk to be able to deal with its onslaught of ruin, Pokemon such as Indeedee and Iron Hands serve as exceptional partners to preserve Chi-Yu's longevity in a game and allow it to better deal with those checks. On the topic of what it can do to bypass its checks, it can get away with sets such as Chople Berry and Assault Vest to deal with threats such as Iron Hands and Iron Bundle respectively. Despite its offensive pressure, Chi-Yu is not without weaknesses. Its speed and bulk are respectable but not outstanding, making it vulnerable to certain threats. In addition, its coverage is not perfect, leaving it with potential weaknesses that can be exploited by Pokemon such as Azumarill and Iron Bundle.

  • Reading this is mandatory to participate in the suspect test. The voting requirements are a minimum GXE of 77 with at least 25 games played.
  • You must use a fresh account that begins with the given prefix for this suspect test. That prefix is 2vFish. For example, I could signup and qualify with the name 2vFish Mubs.
  • Chi-Yu will be allowed on the ladder during the suspect.
  • The suspect test will last two weeks on Thursday, April 13th, 2023 (11:59 pm EDT / GMT-4).
  • Upon meeting the requirements to vote, post the proof in this thread. Feel free to also use this thread as a means to discuss whether you believe the two should be banned or not.
  • It is mandatory to provide proof of ownership of the alt account as well. (Post a picture of your reqs with your smogon name featured).
