Project SV OU - Lure That Threat - Week 41

Dondozo @ Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
Tera Type: fighting
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Relaxed Nature
- Curse
- Chilling Water
- Body Press
- Waterfall

Zamazenta can do nothing against this set, except with roar

You click curse for boosting your defense, and your attack, and body press from Zamazenta do less damage
Chilling water for lowering his attack
Body press and waterfall are for damage

Will add calc tomorrow because 11pm and very tired
Unaware ignores the attack drop from Chilling Water

Congrats to Heheus and Blissey for winning week 39! The set will be added to the Hall of Fame.

Week 40 - IronPress Zamazenta!

:sv/zamazenta:

Zamazenta @ Leftovers
Ability: Dauntless Shield
EVs: 252 HP / 88 Def / 168 Spe
Tera Type: Steel / Fire
Jolly Nature
- Iron Defense
- Body Press
- Crunch
- Heavy Slam / Substitute / Roar

Zamazenta is one of the most effective Pokemon at beating offensive teams with its great mixed bulk, IronPress, and its excellent speed tier. Its set mix is also highly customizable, being able to run Steel for extra resistances and a Toxic immunity or Fire to avoid burns, and moves like Heavy Slam to KO Fairy-types, Substitute to turn passive Pokemon into even easier setup fodder and block most status moves, or Roar to disrupt Booster Energy, 1v1 opposing Bulk Up and IronPress Pokemon, ease prediction with opposing Tera, and rack up hazard damage on its checks. What can allow offensively oriented teams to bait in Zamazenta and remove or cripple it?

The deadline for submissions will be Friday, May 3rd at 11:59 GMT-7!
Roar zama with.
Zamazenta @ Leftovers

its slightly faster so it can roar first but seriously (I’ll come up with it later I’ll just edit it gimme 30mins)

So this is apparently Lure that Threat instead of Victim of the Week, oopsie.

:sv/dragonite:
Dragonite @ Choice Specs
Ability: Multiscale
Tera Type: Fire
EVs: 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hurricane
- Draco Meteor
- Roost
- Flamethrower

The gen 1 mons that aren't birds don't have good physical flying STAB options.. Zamazenta knows that too, and thinks switching in and ko'ing Dragonite will be easy. But... Dragonite decided to buy some new Specs and learn to control the storm.
252+ SpA Choice Specs Dragonite Hurricane vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Zamazenta: 438-516 (112.8 - 132.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Okidogi with psyquic fans and bulk UP
With +3, a max hp okidogi only take 33% of he health, and can restore live with draing punch nad lefttofers and can by roarer of has guard dog, (can have toxic chain to poisoning and not roar zamazenta or a zamazenta specting he has guardad dog) but the trick only does one time before the oponent know you has a toxic chain okidogi, and tera psyquic to more funny and resist psyquic

We are back with Week 41! Apologies for being late to restart this project, I'll try to be more on schedule from now on.

Week 41 - Ting-Lu!

:sv/Ting-Lu:

Ting-Lu @ Leftovers
Ability: Vessel of Ruin
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Tera Type: Poison
Careful Nature
- Spikes
- Earthquake
- Whirlwind
- Ruination

Since the day Gen 9 was implemented on Showdown, Ting-Lu has repeatedly shown off its highly impressive bulk to take nothing from super effective attacks, even avoiding a 2HKO from Iron Valiant's Moonblast as an example. Ting-Lu is no passive mon that can be exploited either, all of its moves pose significant threats to anything not named Gliscor, and even Gliscor doesn't appreciate its teammates being worn down by Spikes. Its bulk and threat level combined make it a Pokemon worth baiting in to open up various Pokemon to start breaking through teams, but what Pokemon is the best at luring Ting-Lu?

The deadline for submissions will be next Friday at around midnight GMT-8, and then voting will be opened.

:sv/raging bolt:
Raging Bolt @ Power Herb
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Grass
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 20 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Thunderclap
- Dragon Pulse
- Solar Beam

This honestly was a difficult one, as ting lu is so fat that any lure move just bounces right off it. But this is probably the best one. Power herb raging bolt can do massive damage to ting-lu by using solar beam, with under the right circumstances it can OHKO ting lu. Raging bolt can use solar beam to deal at least 50% to ting lu in one hit, which means its then in 2 shot range from dragon pulse. Raging bolt can tera grass in order to boost this damage to 80% min, with one d-pulse then ko'ing ting lu. And if you run this on a sun team and tera, then it straight up OHKO's ting lu, which can be great for a mon which normally trades with offensive teams very well.

Calcs:
+1 252+ SpA Raging Bolt Solar Beam vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Vessel of Ruin Ting-Lu: 280-330 (54.4 - 64.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
+1 252+ SpA Tera Grass Raging Bolt Solar Beam vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Vessel of Ruin Ting-Lu: 420-494 (81.7 - 96.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
+1 252+ SpA Protosynthesis Tera Grass Raging Bolt Solar Beam vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Vessel of Ruin Ting-Lu: 542-642 (105.4 - 124.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Roaring Moon @ Leftovers
Ability: Protosynthesis
Shiny: Yes
Tera Type: Ground Resist
EVs: 232 HP / 72 Atk / 100 Def / 48 SpD / 56 Spe
Impish Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Jaw Lock
- Taunt
- Roost

I like this set a lot and haven’t gotten to building with it but it is a great lure. When they want to switch in to whirlwind you or chip you with Eq or Ruination for revenge killing on switch in it can be Jaw Lock -> Taunt for free set up and if they get in safely you can simply Taunt and then Jaw Lock due to this set being super rare.
0 Atk Ting-Lu Earthquake vs. 232 HP / 100+ Def Roaring Moon: 124-147 (30.3 - 35.9%) -- 85.4% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
Ting Lu doesn‘t deal any real dmg and turns into a setup fodder
+6 72 Atk Roaring Moon Jaw Lock vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Ting-Lu: 198-234 (38.5 - 45.5%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
While we don‘t deal much back we easily win the 1v1 and are a +6 +6 super tanky Roaring Moon.

Example Replay, trying to simulate it vs a friend. Can very much come down to predictions sometimes. If you make it like tera bug or any ground resist Tera Type it will always work without mindgames. Replay I forgot to use my tera.

Being a Hazard setter (and often paired with Gholdengo), a Ting-Lu lure's main job is not killing Lu, but preventing it from setting Hazards. Therefore, we need something that Ting Lu would like to switch into, but that prevents it from either setting hazards or killing it. Said Mon exists:

:oricorio_pom_pom:

Oricorio-Pom-Pom @ Heavy-Duty Boots / Wide Lens / Leftovers / Lum Berry / Whatever
Ability: Dancer
Tera Type: Ground / Fairy / Dark / Fight / Steel
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature / Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Quiver Dance
- Taunt
- Hurricane / Alluring Voice
- Revelation Dance

Oricorio Pom-Pom is a Quiver Dance sweeper. Being a Flying type, Ting-Lu will know that it will never actually kill this bird. However, since Oricorio takes more than one turn to be threatening, Ting-Lu will try to switch into it, use Spikes and then Whirlwind the bird away. When Oricorio reveals Taunt, it will be unable to use neither of the moves, after which Oricorio can use Quiver Dance away. Even if Ting-Lu switches out, whatever comes in will now face a +2 Oricorio, which won,t be easy to stop.

Tornadus-Therian usually invites Ting-Lu in, although it doesn't mind Ruination. Taunt and Nasty Plot mean that Tornadus-Therian can prevent hazard setting and phasing, while breaking Ting-Lu. Tera Ghost was picked to break Gholdengo, Iron Crown, Pecharunt, and Slowking-Galar. Tera Ghost also blocks Rapid Spin from Great Tusk and Iron Treads, while better checking Zamazenta and walling some Blissey. Most of these are also common partners for Ting-Lu, so it checks out. Alternatively, you can use Focus Miss accompanied by another Tera type. [EDIT] Life Orb needed for that extra bit of power.

+2 252 SpA Life Orb Tera Ghost Tornadus-Therian Hurricane vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Vessel of Ruin Ting-Lu: 259-305 (50.3 - 59.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

Ruination has twice the pp of Roost so swapping between Ruination and EQ depending on moons HP should just win. Add in Moon having to taunt to prevent whirlwind which stalls actually setting up and burns through roosts. You're also only allowed to submit one set per week so choose whichever of these you think is the best.

:sv/enamorus:
Christina (Enamorus) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Contrary
Shiny: Yes
Tera Type: Stellar
EVs: 36 Atk / 220 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Superpower
- Tera Blast
- Mystical Fire
- Moonblast

This Christina is a Genie in a Bottle. It can make your wish come true to lure in Ting-Lu and send it off to its misery. The typical Scarf Enamorus set with maximum EVs will 3HKO with Moonblast and Leftovers recovery. This set attempts to boost its Attack and Special Attack using Contrary as a mixed sweeper to knock that down to a 2HKO. Moonblast with a Life Orb will 2HKO without using Tera. Two hits of Superpower will also 2HKO. The fun comes if Ting-Lu decides to burn its Tera. In that case, we can use Tera Stellar to take advantage of a 2HKO while boosting our Attack and Special Attack because Contrary reverses stat drops. Mystical Fire is here for Corviknight and Gholdengo who are common Ting-Lu teammates. If you want to get crazy, use Superpower turn 1 so then Tera Blast will be a physical attack the next turn.

I have yet to test Heavy-Duty Boots to prevent recoil issues from piling up, but that theoretically could work. 36 Attack EVs with Boots is enough to OHKO Kingambit with Superpower without HP investment.

252 SpA Enamorus Moonblast vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Vessel of Ruin Ting-Lu: 200-236 (38.9 - 45.9%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

220 SpA Life Orb Enamorus Moonblast vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Vessel of Ruin Ting-Lu: 257-304 (50 - 59.1%) -- 73.8% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

36 Atk Life Orb Contrary Enamorus Superpower over 2 turns vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Ting-Lu: 538-635 (104.6 - 123.5%) -- guaranteed KO in 2 turns after Leftovers recovery

220 SpA Life Orb Tera Stellar (First Use) Enamorus Tera Blast (100 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Vessel of Ruin Tera Poison Ting-Lu: 216-255 (42 - 49.6%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

+1 36 Atk Life Orb Tera Stellar (First Use) Enamorus Tera Blast (100 BP) vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Tera Poison Ting-Lu: 322-380 (62.6 - 73.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Tera Type: Flying
Timid Nature

CM up and setup all over it with the power of tera! If you reveal special or CM it might try to slam you with eq or WW you out until you reveal taunt and its stuck with you

1. Unless there’s many crits Roaring Moon always wins the 1v1 with lefties and roost and stuff.
2. Oh mb, imma make so it‘s only 1

Zoroark-Hisui @ Heavy-Duty Boots/Life Orb
Ability: Illusion
Tera Type: Fighting
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Low Kick
- Poltergeist
- Body Slam/Facade

Low kick is a very useful coverage move for the eloquent Lu hater, but sadly most of the mons that learn it are physical mons ting would never dream of switching in on anyway. But Zoroark-H is the perfect lure because, in theory, Ting is a perfect switchin to anything it wants to do. But this zoroark is different. With +2 Tera Low Kick, you will ko +2 252 Atk Tera Fighting Zoroark-Hisui Low Kick (120 BP) vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Ting-Lu: 540-636 (105 - 123.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO even without Life Orb. If they tera poison on low kick, Life Orb does give you a much stronger polter, and if they ghost, then +2 252 Atk Tera Fighting Zoroark-Hisui Poltergeist vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Tera Ghost Ting-Lu: 492-582 (95.7 - 113.2%) -- 75% chance to OHKO so Lorb has some advantages, as well as ohkoing the rare physdef Lu. Also good if you wanted to run this on an actual team to do more outside of the ting mu

Voting for Ting-Lu!

:SV/Ting-Lu:

Solar Beam :Raging Bolt: by Heatranator
Taunt :Oricorio-Pom-Pom: by Eeveeto
Taunt :Tornadus-Therian: by Smashburn
Taunt + Tera Flying :Iron Valiant: by HydreigonTheChild
Low Kick :Zoroark-Hisui: by Quackborg

Vote for up to two lures, the winner will go to the Hall of Fame.

Voting Closes on Monday, at whatever time the next week is posted.

Ting-Lu doesn't want to come in on Roaring Moon or Enamorus so they were rejected, while the Jaw Lock moon set can struggle to win depending on Ruination rng. Make sure your submissions are lures rather than Pokemon that counter with standard sets.

Valiant is dependant on Tera (and isn,t the best Lure anyway, since both STABs hitt Ting-Lu), while Hisuian Zoroark requires to be touched or on teammates to work as lure. Therefore, voting for :raging_bolt: and :tornadus_therian:
