Reserving Breloom

Breloom @ Loaded Dice
Ability: Technician
Tera Type: Fire
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Spore/Swords Dance
- Bullet Seed
- Tera Blast
- Mach Punch

Once revealed you don't have sash via SR/Spike dmg, Val has no reason to fear Breloom.
Tera Fire is super slept on; it let's you eat Wisps, handle Volc, and lure Val!

252 SpA Choice Specs Iron Valiant Moonblast vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Tera Fire Breloom: 165-195 (63.2 - 74.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

252 Atk Choice Band Technician Tera Fire Breloom Bullet Seed (3 hits) vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Iron Valiant: 300-354 (103.8 - 122.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO

reserving ting-lu
:sv/Ting-Lu:
Ting-Lu @ Leftovers
Level: 100
Adamant Nature
Tera Type: Poison
Ability: Vessel of Ruin
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
- Earthquake
- Whirlwind
- Heavy Slam
- Stealth Rock

Iron Valiant loves to pick up the 2hko from Moonblast but tera Poison allows ting-lu to eat moonblasts and focus blasts like nothing . Adamant Heavy Slam guarantees a 2HKO .

Um... so does Careful :/

0 Atk Ting-Lu Heavy Slam (120 BP) vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Iron Valiant: 204-240 (70.5 - 83%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Making it Adamant but not actually investing in Attack does nothing but compromise Ting-Lu as a whole.

thanks for pointing it out , while i was calcing maybe i was using a wrong set , cuz it was showing a chance to 2hko only

:Sv/Greninja:
Greninja @ Choice Specs / Life Orb / honestly even like boots
Ability: Torrent
Tera Type: Water / Poison
EVs: 72 Atk / 184 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Gunk Shot
- U-turn / Spikes
- Hydro Pump
- Dark Pulse

Semi-traditional specs Greninja spread. Iron Valiant is one of the best switch-ins to Specs Gren Dark pulse. Gren also doesn't learn any special moves that threaten Valiant, so its a pretty natural switch in. If you don't like specs run boots since you outspeed anyway, but revealing boots makes it harder to convince valiant to switch in.

184 SpA Choice Specs Greninja Dark Pulse vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Iron Valiant: 59-70 (20.4 - 24.2%) -- guaranteed 5HKO
72 Atk Protean Greninja Gunk Shot vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Iron Valiant: 290-344 (100.3 - 119%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Edit: honestly didn't even calc hydro vs valiant, don't bother voting for this, was a last minute submission anyway

Thank you to everyone who participated this week. For the Greninja submissions I will be considering Heavy-Duty Boots since both Choice Specs and Life Orb Hydro Pump OHKO Valiant and thus don't lure it. Everyone can vote for up to 2 of the following submissions

Tera Steel Flash Cannon :Hydreigon: by ayevon
Tera Poison Heavy Slam :Ting-Lu: by pratik2007

Tera Poison Heavy Slam :Tyranitar: by Admiral_Stalfos19

Voting ends on Thursday February 2nd at 23:59 EST

Congratulations to Contrary Servine and :Slither WIng: for winning this week. The set has been added to the Hall of Fame.

For Week 8 of Lure That Threat we have... Choice Band Meowscarada
:SV/Meowscarada:

Meowscarada @ Choice Band
Ability: Protean
Tera Type: Grass
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Flower Trick
- Knock Off
- U-turn
- Play Rough

Receiving more attention as of late on both ladder and SPL, Choice Band Meowscarada is one of the tiers strongest and fastest breakers. It has access to all 3 of Protean, Knock Off and U-turn. Flower Trick lets it break pass Curse Dondozo, Iron Defense or Curse Garganacl, and hit Great Tusk, Greninja and Rotom-W. It can complement its moveset with Play Rough, which hits Iron Valiant, Roaring Moon and Chien-Pao. What Pokemon are able to turn the tables against this Pokemon?

Submissions end on Tuesday February 7th at 23:59 EST
Remember to explain how your submission lures Meowscarada

:slither wing: stays winning

Greninja @ Choice Specs
Level: 100
Hasty Nature
Ability: Protean
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
- Hydro Pump
- Dark Pulse
- Gunk Shot/Ice Beam
- Grass Knot/Spikes

the protean triplets have a cool love triangle going and it'll be interesting to see how they play together/against each other as time goes on. meowscarada won't switch into cinderace, but gren? it lives both stabs and outspeeds on the next turn.

252 SpA Choice Specs Greninja Hydro Pump vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Meowscarada: 153-180 (52.2 - 61.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

in a high-pressure/late game situation, meow may be more comfortable switching in, especially if they've already scouted a coverage move like the rising grass knot - but gren's versatility means you can run extra coverage depending on your team's needs - moves like gunk shot and beam hit and ohko unsuspecting targets.

4 Atk Protean Greninja Gunk Shot vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Meowscarada: 336-396 (114.6 - 135.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 SpA Protean Greninja Ice Beam vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Meowscarada: 336-396 (114.6 - 135.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO

funnily enough, they do the exact same on a standard spatk gren, meaning you have even more flexibility in running boots, expert belt, sash, lorb, whatever. gunk has the added benefit of nailing azu, hatt, and random tera fairy scrubs, and ice beam hits dragons and the like. u-turn ohkos meow too but imo, out of the protean starters, gren's most useful pumping and pulsing its way through things (pause) while the other two are better pivots. they all complement each other nicely, which takes some of the pivot pressure off gren.

TLDR: meow switches into gren's stabs and outspeeds, so simply force it in and click gunk shot or ice beam. simple and effective.

:Baxcalibur:

Baxcalibur @ Choice Band
Ability: Thermal Exchange
Tera Type: Dragon
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Glaive Rush
- Icicle Crash
- Earthquake
- Ice Shard

I know it looks a little silly to call Baxcalibur a Meowscarada lure since these Pokemon don't really switch in on each other, but in practice Meowscarada users love to use it as a lead since it's a fast, hard hitting pivot. So when you see Meowscarada on the enemy team, you lead Baxcalibur, and the enemy, expecting the typical DD set and not wanting to give it a free turn, either U-Turns out or tries to OHKO with Play Rough. Instead, they get OHKO'd by the rare Banded Ice Shard.

252+ Atk Choice Band Baxcalibur Ice Shard vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Meowscarada: 314-372 (107.1 - 126.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO

...and that's pretty much it. No real gimmick here, no need to burn your tera or waste a move slot, just a very powerful Ice Shard that cleanly OHKO's Meowscarada and is also very useful against Pult, Moon, Garchomp, Dnite, Breloom, and plenty of other weakened offensive threats. Against more defensive teams you get an extremely powerful breaker that has no real reliable switch-ins. Even if the enemy doesn't lead Meowscarada, you may be able to surprise them later on with Ice Shard, which most Bax's don't carry.

As an aside, you can run Jolly if you want to outspeed Timid Gholdengos and speed tie Jolly Tusks. It still usually picks up the OHKO on Meowscarada:

252 Atk Choice Band Tera Dragon Baxcalibur Ice Shard vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Meowscarada: 288-338 (98.2 - 115.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock

But for this set, I prefer the extra breaking power, since that's what this guy is here for.

:sv/quaquaval:
Quaquaval @ Leftovers / Heavy-Duty Boots
Level: 100
Impish Nature
Tera Type: Steel Ability: Moxie
EVs: 200 HP /196 Def / 112 Spe
- Aqua Step
- Close Combat
- Roost
- Bulk Up

The standard bulky Quaquaval set but this time with Tera steel to tank flower tricks all day long . Bulk up as a set-up move with aqua step and close combat as stab . Funnily enough , this set can even somewhat check 2 attack Espathra . But taking about Meowscarada :

252 Atk Choice Band Meowscarada Flower Trick vs. 200 HP / 196+ Def Tera Steel Quaquaval on a critical hit: 101-119 (27.9 - 32.9%) -- 85.6% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 Atk Choice Band Meowscarada Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 200 HP / 196+ Def Tera Steel Quaquaval: 186-219 (51.5 - 60.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 Atk Choice Band Meowscarada Knock Off vs. 200 HP / 196+ Def Tera Steel Quaquaval: 126-148 (34.9 - 40.9%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

Knock off is not guranteed 2kho , and you can always roost off .

Meowscarada is basically setup fodder and moxie boost for this particular Quaquaval set .

Sandy Shocks @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Thunderbolt
- Earth Power
- Tera Blast
- Volt Switch

Meowscarada resists the two stabs of sandy shocks and can the revenge kill with flower trick.
So it's a common switch in.
However, if you teracristalize sandy shocks into a fairy type you can lure and kill the cat with tera blast.

Calcs:

252 SpA Tera Fairy Sandy Shocks Tera Blast vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Meowscarada: 332-392 (113.3 - 133.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252 Atk Choice Band Meowscarada Flower Trick vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Tera Fairy Sandy Shocks on a critical hit: 234-276 (75.2 - 88.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

CB doesnt even kill you and you are sure to kill in return.

Here is a cool spl replay showing the tech (Turn 15)

Lmao.
Roaring Moon @ Leftovers
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Poison
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Jaw Lock
- Tera Blast
- Roost
The same. You Tera, you trap and you set-up.
Never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down
:sv/roaring moon:
Roaring Moon @ Leftovers
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Poison
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Jaw Lock
- Tera Blast
- Roost
So, you pick off a foe, Meow come to OHKO with Play Rough, and you proceed to set up and sweep if no Unaware.

Can I permanently reserve RMoon btw?

:sv/dondozo:
Dondozo @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Unaware
Tera Type: Ice
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Avalanche
- Liquidation
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

Tera Ice Avalanche dondozo
So normally, when you face the meowster with a donzo, things normally look like this
252 Atk Choice Band Meowscarada Flower Trick vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Dondozo on a critical hit: 300-354 (59.5 - 70.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
4 Atk Dondozo Liquidation vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Meowscarada: 62-73 (21.1 - 24.9%) -- guaranteed 5HKO

Not good at all, so, what if we just abuse the fact that we are always gonna be on the defensive and get in
4 Atk Tera Ice Dondozo Avalanche vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Meowscarada: 174-206 (59.3 - 70.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 Atk Choice Band Meowscarada Flower Trick vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Tera Ice Dondozo on a critical hit: 150-177 (29.7 - 35.1%) -- 15.3% chance to 3HKO
