Project SV OU - Lure That Threat - Week 41

Low kick :clodsire:
Clodsire @ Heavy-Duty Boots / Black Sludge
Ability: Unaware
Tera Type: Fighting/Water/Poison/Fairy/Steel/Psychic
EVs: 248 HP / 248 SpD / 4 Spe
Careful Nature
- Toxic
- Earthquake
- Recover
- Low Kick

0 Atk Clodsire Low Kick (100 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Hydreigon: 124-148 (38.1 - 45.5%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
Possible damage amounts: (124, 126, 128, 130, 130, 132, 134, 136, 136, 138, 140, 142, 142, 144, 146, 148)

As a stall user, I’m gonna use a stall mon to surprise hydreigon. Hydreigon won’t come in on a toxic, but it can Tera elsewhere and then blindly switch in.

That is where Low Kick comes in.

Clodsire actually has a surprisingly high Attack stat for a defensive mon. Hydreigon is also quite heavy, so low kick will hit it hard. If you absolutely despise hydreigon and want it to cease existing, use Tera fighting to 2HKO it. Or you can use the other Tera types I have seen.

Story:
Since BW OU, Hydreigon always hated stall. Therefore, she wanted to fuck every stall mon she saw. Now it is SV OU and her pure disdain for stall made her run Tera steel for toxic immunity. Then she raided the stall town, bringing terror. Clodsire needed to save the stall town, so he swallowed a low kick TM. Then, he launched a kick at Hydreigon, dealing more than a third of her HP in damage, seeing this, hydreigon fled.

Garchomp @ Dragon Fang
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 252 Atk/4 Def/252 Spe
Jolly Nature
Tera-Type: Dragon
- Outrage
- Earthquake
- Substitute
- Swords Dance

It's time for another episode of "The hell's wrong with you, Stalfos?" And this time we try to lure in a Dragon-type... by using a faster one!

Now hear me out. Ever since it got Spikes, Garchomp has shifted its priorities into taking hits more than dishing them out. Don't get me wrong, a base 130 attack stats lets Chomp hit hard even without investment, but both of its STABs have types (and a couple abilities in Ground's case) that can switch in for free. Hydreigon is a perfect example of a mon that can come in on a predicted EQ and start to set up on Chomp. Of course, Chomp can try and phaze it out with Dragon Tail, but Sub blocks the effect completely, and it's no good outspeeding Hydrei if the only move you can hit it with forces you to go last anyway. Finally, Tera-Ghost only plays even more into Hydrei's hands, since it has the perfect STAB to exploit it.

...

So instead, let's revert back to the good old days where Chomp was offensive, and beat Hydrei at its own game. Of course, Hydrei is deceptively bulky for an offensively orientated mon, so we need Outrage for the extra power. And Tera-Dragon for the extra power. And Dragon Fang for the extra power. All of that is necessary in case Hydrei tries to Tera-Steel, since not even that lets it survive this specific +2 Dragon STAB.

+2 252 Atk Dragon Fang Tera Dragon Garchomp Outrage vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Tera Steel Hydreigon: 343-404 (105.5 - 124.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Without Tera-Dragon, Chomp will always need a second SD to secure the OHKO. Of course, you could just straight up go for the 2nd SD if it's healthy and you want to take it down without the Tera (i.e. you suspect you'll need it save it for something else or already burnt it), as Chomp is also deceptively bulky for an offensively orientated mon and, unlike Chomp, Hydrei doesn't exactly main the tools it'd need to punish you for cheekily setting up in its face.

+2 252 SpA Tera Steel Hydreigon Dark Pulse vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Tera Dragon Garchomp: 291-343 (81.5 - 96%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
+2 252 SpA Tera Steel Hydreigon Earth Power vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Tera Dragon Garchomp: 219-258 (61.3 - 72.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
+4 252 Atk Dragon Fang Garchomp Outrage vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Tera Steel Hydreigon: 385-453 (118.4 - 139.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO

You might wanna scout for Draco just to be safe, though, if you burned your Terastallization already and Hydrei hasn't. If you see it, chances are Hydrei was Choiced all along, which is bad because Specs is too powerful to make Sub plays against really, and Scarf kills Chomp before it can even get a Sub up in the first place.

252 SpA Hydreigon Draco Meteor vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Garchomp: 474-560 (132.7 - 156.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO
-2 252 SpA Choice Specs Hydreigon Draco Meteor vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Garchomp: 356-420 (99.7 - 117.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO at 75%

Forretress @ Loaded Dice
Ability: Sturdy
Tera Type: Bug
EVs: 252 HP / 68 Atk / 188 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Pin Missile
- Rapid Spin
- Spikes
- Stealth Rock
Forretress is known for being a very passive mon, therefore a lot of people would just stay in and maybe set up a sub.

Calcs:
68+ Atk Forretress Pin Missile (5 hits) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Hydreigon: 330-390 (101.5 - 120%) -- guaranteed OHKO
68+ Atk Forretress Pin Missile (4 hits) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Hydreigon: 264-312 (81.2 - 96%) -- approx. 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 SpA Hydreigon Dark Pulse vs. 252 HP / 188 SpD Forretress: 148-175 (41.8 - 49.4%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
68+ Atk Tera Bug Forretress Pin Missile (4 hits) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Hydreigon: 352-416 (108.3 - 128%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Dragapult @ Expert Belt
Ability: Infiltrator
Tera Type: Fire
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Shadow Ball
- Flamethrower
- Dragon Darts

As most pults that run special moves are specs, a hydreigon player would assume that after you ko something with shadow ball or flamethrower that they're free to sub and nasty plot, but the real nasty plot is the dragon darts waiting to ohko hydreigon. If hydreigon comes in after pult uses draco then you can tera and flamethrower because -2 specs draco ohkos hydreigon after rocks and has a 30% chance to without so they will likely tera steel and then tera fire flamethrower has good odds to 2hko and is guaranteed with a burn or rocks chip.

4 Atk Expert Belt Dragapult Dragon Darts (2 hits) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Hydreigon: 332-394 (102.1 - 121.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO

-2 252 SpA Expert Belt Tera Fire Dragapult Flamethrower vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Tera Steel Hydreigon: 161-190 (49.5 - 58.4%) -- 60.9% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

hey, thanks for letting me host this setsu. lets start with the mon id really like to be lured and destroyed.

Weak 17 - Unaware Wall Dondozo

:sv/dondozo:
Dondozo @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Tera Type: Grass
Impish Nature
- Liquidation
- Body Press
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

Dondozo is a premier ou wall, who is capable of shutting down majority of the physcial attackers in the tier. Its toolkit, in one word is amazing i.e. great base stats with a humongous 150 Hp and a good 115 Defense, along with an attack stat which sits at 100 allowing it not get too passive. Coupled with this is one of the best defensive abilities i.e. unaware and a nice defensive typing in water. body press and liquidation are good damaging options, while rest + sleep talk provides dondozo with good sustainability without making it too passive.
how will you choose lure this defensive behemoth.

Submissions end on May 8th!
:dondozo: Please remain civilized in the thread. Try your best to avoid unnecessary comments / one-liners / etc :dondozo:

Tera Type: Normal
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature

Dragonite locks Dondozo into Liquidation/Body Press so it can't use Rest and Dondozo gets chipped down until it's eventual death.

Grass Knot SD valiant

:Sv/iron valiant:

Iron Valiant @ Booster Energy
Ability: Quark Drive
Tera Type: Grass
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Swords Dance
- Grass Knot
- Close Combat
- Moonblast

After you SD, they'll think they can come in for free. But then... you reveal tera grass grass Knot! This'll also help in baiting tusk. With this set, both your SpA and physical Atk will be high, making this a great late game sweeper.

Bait Calcs

252 Atk Iron Valiant Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Dondozo: 129-153 (25.5 - 30.3%) -- guaranteed 4HKO

0 Atk Dondozo Liquidation vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Iron Valiant: 102-120 (35.2 - 41.5%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

Punish Calc
252 SpA Tera Grass Iron Valiant Grass Knot (120 BP) vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Dondozo: 524-618 (103.9 - 122.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO

:choice specs: :sv/greninja: :choice specs:
Greninja @ Choice Specs
Ability: Protean
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Dark Pulse
- U-turn
- Grass Knot

When you get the opportunity, reveal u-turn. U-turn will not only give you momentum, but it will also lure Dondozo in because it thinks that green lacks grass knot. Most of the time, specs gren has hydro pump, dark pulse, ice beam, and another move that could be grass knot, u-turn, and even extrasensory. Ice beam is great for gren to have because it blasts dragons into oblivion.

Dragapult @ Choice Band
Ability: Infiltrator
Tera Type: Electric
EVs: 136 Atk / 120 SpA / 252 Spe
Naughty Nature
- Dragon Darts
- Phantom Force
- Thunder
- U-turn

Mix pult with thunder
So the plan is
1) you click Dragon Darts and/or Phantom Force until Dondozo appears
2) retreat to appear that you're scared
3) Click tera + Thunder to delete him from the face of the earth

136+ Atk Choice Band Dragapult Dragon Darts (2 hits) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Dondozo: 152-182 (30.1 - 36.1%) -- approx. 44.8% chance to 3HKO
120 SpA Tera Electric Dragapult Thunder vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Dondozo: 378-446 (75 - 88.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

The combination of these 2 moves will kill dondozo even if both get the lowest roll possible

You can potentially get away with Phantom Force to also lure it, but you need a Mid-Roll on either Phantom Force or the Thunder
136+ Atk Choice Band Tera Electric Dragapult Phantom Force vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Dondozo: 138-163 (27.3 - 32.3%) -- guaranteed 4HKO

Fly :roaring_moon:

Roaring Moon @ Leftovers
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 Atk / 152 Def / 4 SpD / 100 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Roost
- Dragon Dance
- Crunch
- Fly

Dondozo is a prime wall for dragon dance roaring moon as without sets such as tera flying acrobatics, it can’t reliably out damage dondozo resting and using sleep talk. But this is where you can use roaring moons defensive capabilities to help. Dondozo only has 16 attacking pp, body press and liquidation. With tera water, liquidation does close to no damage and damage drops do not matter due to dondozos unaware. By investing into your defense EVs you can reliably take a lot of body presses and roost up. Roost paired with leftovers can easily outstall dondozos body presses even if it gets multiple 1/3s with sleep talk, which isn’t even accounting for when roaring moon is in the air using fly. When both pokémon have full pp, you can tera water and spam dragon dance as much as possible and possibly using roost in case they attack. Since they can’t use rest at full HP (They’d rather get the sleep turns and not burn pp) , they will need to choose what they want sacrifice pp of. They only have 48 pp to water not including rest. If they use all their body presses, you basically won’t be forced into roost anymore unless they get lucky with sleep talk. If they use sleep talk pp means that you won’t be forced into roost and can waste more pp.

Fly allows roaring moon to waste additional turns by flying up in the air, even tho this allows your opponent to burn 8 rests and 2 sleep turns (16 turns of no pp waste), you will still be able to waste 24 turns of no pp waste yourself. If dondozo stays in the whole MU, you will be able to burn all the rest pp and either force it to struggle or just spam liquidation and you should be able to sweep the rest of the team when you are +6 in speed and attack.

Sorry for the lack of paragraphs or lack of grammar, i’m a bit tired.

Dondozo likes to switch in on physical set-up sweepers and ceruledge often can't do anything to it, so it's time to change that.
Ceruledge @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Flash Fire
Tera Type: Bug
EVs: 252 HP / 72 Def / 172 SpA / 12 Spe
- Bitter Blade
- Will-O-Wisp
- Hex
- Bulk Up
Dozo will likely switch in with no worry for itself because ceruledge normally doesn't do anything, meaning you wisp on the switch and then tera bug, making liquidation a 5hko, even if your defense drops. You then spam hex, lowering it's health till it rests, and then just use 3 more hex's till it drops.
172 SpA Ceruledge Hex (130 BP) vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Dondozo: 168-198 (33.3 - 39.2%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
This is the ko range for sleeping dozo and obviously burnt is also 3hkod.

Saturn_Toxicroak.jpg

Toxicroak @ Wise Glasses
Ability: Dry Skin
EVs: 252 SpA/4 SpD/252 Spe
Timid Nature
Tera-Type: Ghost
- Focus Blast
- Vacuum Wave
- Shadow Ball
- Nasty Plot

Toxicroak is primarily a physical attacker, which Donbozo specializes in walling off. So instead, we make Donbozo get walled by Croak.

Between Dry Skin and the Ghost Tera-Type, Donbozo does absolutely 0 damage to Croak, giving it the free-est Nasty Plot(s) of its life. The other moves are there so it can hit the thing when it's done; Focus Miss for original STAB, Shadow Ball for new STAB and Vacuum Wave for priority. These three attacks provide completely unresisted coverage (except against H-Roark, who screws you over anyway). Wise Glasses are over Life Orb on the off-chance Donbozo even thinks about trying to stall you out; Life Orb's residual damage to you doesn't help that cause and it'll never click Liquidation if it can help it.

...that's about it, really. I usually go into a lot more detail than this, but there's truly nothing more to say about it. Except calcs.

252 SpA Wise Glasses Tera Ghost Toxicroak Focus Blast vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Dondozo: 229-271 (45.4 - 53.7%) -- 42.2% chance to 2HKO
252 SpA Wise Glasses Tera Ghost Toxicroak Vacuum Wave vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Dondozo: 76-91 (15 - 18%) -- possible 6HKO
252 SpA Wise Glasses Tera Ghost Toxicroak Shadow Ball vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Dondozo: 153-181 (30.3 - 35.9%) -- 42.7% chance to 3HKO

Not the most impressive damage output against Donbozo, but hey; free damage is free :]
