The team in question
TLDR: Excadrill underperforms, Ttar wants Speed EV's but also bulk, and also Zama I wanna replace
Upon writing this I have realised I accidentally put in Chinese stats. my bad
Now let's talk about each team member in (some) detail (this is my first post).
Tyranitar is our typical wallbreaker and lead Pokemon, although since it has no recovery, but bulk, it doesn't have a lot to work with. We all know the set, and I stole it, so long story short, Stone Edge as a nuke, yada yada, we all know.
Main details:
1. Max speed to get to 221 speed, to outspeed uninvested base 90's and max investment <60 or slower
2. Moveset contains Stone Edge for neutral nuke, Knock Off for....nuke, Ice Punch for Grounds and Flyers like Dnite or Lando, and Low Kick for Steels not named Corviknight or Skarmory like Ting Lu
3. No SpDef investment bc of Sand
Of all the Pokemon, I mainly struggle to properly use Excadrill effectively, but as a Sand reliant breaker, he does what he can. SD for the rare setup chance (I may replace it with Substitute), EQ and Iron Head for STAB, and Rapid as my only removal. Air Balloon for coming in on Ground types (They'll never see it coming lol).
Main deets:
1. Air Balloon to come in on Ground Types and to ignore Spikes while he spin
2. Tera Ghost for the occasional fighting type move and to ragebait Zamazenta
3. Excadrill is super convenient for being a spinner that benefits from sandstorm being active as well as being a Fairy resist, which the team lacks. Can I safely bring Excadrill on anything? Probably Enamorus, Hatt, and Clef, but besides that probably not.
Zama is the main Pokemon I want to remove. I'm considering Rillaboom, but I haven't tested it on ladder yet, so who knows? It does its job well but a result, a lot of matchups like... rain teams-- I have no real reason to take it off but...uh..i dunno. Lefties to cancel out Sandstorm chip
Details:
I didn't mean to have the EV's come out like how they are, I am reusing an old team, my apologies.
1. Zamazenta is an actual wall who walls things, and thus I can run it without worrying about some "+2"
2. I meant max speed since my team is in dire need of speed EV's
3. Heavy Slam for the very rare Fairy counterplay
AV Glowking and Ttar are the special sponges, and provides some chance against Gholdengo, Kyurem, and such
Main details
1. Unlike Ttar, Glowking can heal....from Regenerator, and thus can reliably shrug off Sandstorm chip in one big jump
2. Since this is not balance, Recover is not a mandatory "must" slot, and thus I will be requiring AV to sponge special hits better, explaining the minimal SpDef investment
3. I have huge faith in Future Sight catching some Pokemon off guard since the name of the game is damage, with 6% Sand chip, Future Sight, and a 2nd move.
Hydrapple is a stable slightly defensive wall and an NP set and Regen to cancel it out. I've considered Recover, but my team needs Special breaking power.
1. Fickle Beam over Draco because I want Hydrapple to stay in the field for longer and Draco and Fickle have the same PP anyways
2. Giga Drain actually (almost reliably) can take out the average Great Tusk (granted I need to switch in on a non-ice move)
252 Atk Great Tusk Ice Spinner vs. 248 HP / 0+ Def Hydrapple: 296-352 (71.3 - 84.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 SpA Hydrapple Giga Drain vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Great Tusk: 386-456 (103.7 - 122.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO
I'm trying here. I don't have much commentary. Rocks, trap, taunt.
Main details:
1. Max speed needed for getting rocks up, and also bc a trapper was pretty useful for my team anyways. I can trap Pokemon like Moltres, Pecharunt, and G-Weezing (Heatran is immune to Wisp and Toxic)
2. Max speed Taunt to catch slower Pokemon off guard like Sinistcha, non-invested landorus, and such
3. Do I bank too hard on Magma Storm? Yes. Is it the only way to get certain special attackers? No. I mainly want to get rid of most Heatran resists since if I was to try another Pokemon, I would risk getting status
