Resource SV OU Speed Tiers

been going through this and i spotted some things

While Latias is on this list, Latias at +2 Speed isnt and since Latias tends to run Agility sets a lot, i feel like its reasonable to add that on here as well!

Tyranitar should also be readded again to this, giving how its finally ranked on VR at a respectable ranking and since it has been seeing legitimate success in Gen9 OU even with so many checks to it now(Iron Valiant, Great Tusk, etc).

Also, remove the evil moth since its banned :volcarona:

What is stopping someone from picking their whole team high one the speed tier and just either sweeping the other team? I understand the opponent might be stall to counteract that but i feel like it might be difficult to take a dragon rush from an out speeding dragonite or a blaze kick from a blaziken. What exactly is the downside of doing this?

Priority moves are a big reason for this, Pokémon like Blaziken, Deoxys-Speed and Dragapult are very fast in the current metagame, however are typically on the frailer side, and are prone to priority options like Extreme Speed from Dragonite, Ice Shard from Weavile, Sucker Punch from Kingambit or a Thunderclap from Raging Bolt.

Most teams don't even really need to run stall to have checks to Pokemon like Dragonite or Blaziken, Great Tusk for example is an excellent physically defensive Pokemon that can check both quite well, and is one of the most popular Pokemon in the format.

Also, speed alone typically isn't enough to sweep a team, you often need to actually use a setup move like Swords Dance, Dragon Dance, Calm Mind or Nasty Plot, however this leaves you prone to a few counterplay options, like being locked into your setup move by Encore, getting phased out by Roar or Whirlwind, or even being forced to switch out by Red Card!

There's a lot more than meets the eye in Pokemon, and having higher speed doesn't necessarily make for a stronger Pokemon.

Uhhhh... I don't think Booster Speed Tusk at +2 is 675 speed. Booster Speed Tusk with no stage changes reaches 450 speed, so there's no way it'd only be at 675 speed +2. The Showdown calc shows 900 speed. Oh, so you meant 1.5 (1 stage change) x 1.5 (Booster Speed boost) = 2.25. That is not immediately clear for math-challenged folks, so is there anyway you can adjust your spreadsheet to read "1 + Booster Energy" in the "Boosts" column for Great Tusk with +1 in speed and Booster Energy Speed instead of 2.25?

fixed it to be clearer, concern was space but ig there is a booster energy minisprite.

How bad of an idea would it be to include some key -1 mons in this, since Webs is a common archetype? Could just be the base 100+ mons, doesn't need to be everything, if it'd muddle the list too badly. It'd help optimize building for Webs though.
Just noticed that you added a few, thanks a bunch veti - expanding on that is very helpful

Tyranitar isn't on the list, was used recently in OLT and is the premiere sand setter (Hippowdon, and Excadrill are also on the list so I feel this is more than warranted)

No investment neutral nature is 158 speed
252 speed neutral nature is 221 speed

EDIT: Pecharunt is also not on here, and its decently used as an anti meta pick in ladder and in tournament (brought this week to OLT as well)
For Pecharunt neutral nature no investment hits 212 speed
252 speed neutral nature Pecharunt hits 275 speed
252 speed boosting nature Pecharunt hits 302 speed, this is especially notable as this is ran to outspeed max speed Great Tusk
