Sorry about the delay - we're back! This time, we'll be looking at quite the meta threat, with the toxic bat of Gliscor somehow dancing with swords to setup and punch massive holes in the opposing team. But firstly, your winners are:

Gliscor @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
EVs: 244 HP / 36 Def / 228 SpD
Tera Type: Normal
Careful Nature
- Swords Dance
- Knock Off
- Facade
- Protect

SD Gliscor is notorious for its longevity as well as offensive threat, using its great defensive typing to set up on common meta staples like Lando-T, non-Ice Fang Zamazenta, Ting-Lu, and even more with Terastallization. SD + Tera Normal Facade blows most, if not all, foes out of the water after just 1 (or 2 boosts for the most physically sturdy), while Knock Off is great utility that makes answers to Gliscor that force it out vulnerable to hazards or unable to recover. Finally, Protect makes Gliscor more infuriating, guaranteeing its recovery while letting it activate its Toxic Orb freely. How will you deal with this toxic bat?

Submissions will close on Sunday, January 26th.

Mandibuzz (F) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Overcoat
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 248 HP / 244 Def / 16 Spe
Bold Nature
- Foul Play
- Roost
- Knock Off/Defog
- Iron Defense
This originally was going by a counter, but after checking the calcs its more of a check. Mandibuzz can take gliscor's hits pretty well, though it does have to be careful of +2 tera normal facade on the switch with rocks in the picture, as that can overwhelm it. If mandibuzz gets a free switch however, it completely dominates gliscor, as it can iron defense up to combat its sd boosts, and then foul play it for big damage. Mandibuzz can also roost up against it to keep itself healthy. Mandibuzz can either use knock off to cripple gliscor's teammates, or use defog to remove the hazards SD gliscor is usually paired with (these SD gliscor teams rarely pack gholdengo, so you can usually get off the defog).

Calcs:
+2 0 Atk Gliscor Facade (140 BP) vs. 248 HP / 244+ Def Mandibuzz: 135-159 (31.9 - 37.5%) -- 90.9% chance to 3HKO
+2 0 Atk Tera Normal Gliscor Facade (140 BP) vs. 248 HP / 244+ Def Mandibuzz: 202-238 (47.7 - 56.2%) -- 84% chance to 2HKO
+2 0 Atk Mandibuzz Foul Play vs. 244 HP / 36 Def Gliscor: 157-186 (44.6 - 52.8%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Poison Heal
+4 0 Atk Mandibuzz Foul Play vs. 244 HP / 36 Def Gliscor: 235-277 (66.7 - 78.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Poison Heal

Counter:
:sv/skarmory:
Skarmory @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Sturdy
Tera Type: Dragon
EVs: 252 HP / 160 Def / 96 Spe
Bold Nature
- Body Press
- Iron Defense
- Roost
- Spikes
Skarmory is a complete counter to gliscor, as gliscor simply cannot do much to skarmory while it in return. Gliscors best option is a +2 knock off against skarmory, which with an item does 28% max. Which is to say that it isn't doing a whole lot. 'Technically' +2 tera normal facade does more, but that comes with the drawback of being way more easy to counter, as it then fears body press and takes chip damage from the spikes that skarmory lays down. Gliscor simply can't brute force its way through skarmory without needing a ton of turns to do so, which any smart team should never give gliscor. Skarmory just iron defenses up to +6 and deals 43% minimum, meaning you can 3hit ko gliscor. Unlike other counters, skarmory is completely immune to spikes and is neutral to rocks.

Calcs:
+2 0 Atk Gliscor Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 252 HP / 160+ Def Skarmory: 81-96 (24.2 - 28.7%) -- 98.9% chance to 4HKO
+2 0 Atk Gliscor Facade (140 BP) vs. 252 HP / 160+ Def Skarmory: 58-68 (17.3 - 20.3%) -- possible 5HKO
+6 160+ Def Skarmory Body Press vs. 244 HP / 36 Def Gliscor: 152-179 (43.1 - 50.8%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Poison Heal

Too bad for this Gliscor that it doesn't have Toxic to whittle down Skeledirge's HP. And Knock Off doesn't even remove 1/3rd of the crocodile's health, even with the x1.5 boost.

If Gliscor decides to terastilize to gain an immunity to Hex, it puts itself in an awkward position, becauss well. Normal is a pretty mid defensive type. The player should pray there's no Spikes on the field too if they decide to switch it out.

This isn't a Black Belt master, but this Emerald Belt Chesnaught has tools to handle Gliscor and several other stall threats. It has coverage for most Tera shenanigans Gliscor may attempt. It survives +2 Facade comfortably, but do note that Tera Normal Facade is a 2HKO. If that happens, Drain Punch can recover enough HP to at least check it. The EV spread is to survive a +2 Play Rough from Ogerpon-Wellspring and OHKO Kingambit with Drain Punch assuming no Tera shenanigans there, either.

A much harder check than Woger because Gliscor can never OHKO you provided get in free thanks to Sturdy so you will always be able to SD, even if the Gliscor is +6. You also won't be 2HKO'd by an unboosted Gliscor so you can even switch in on Facade. The steps are the exact same as in Lectrys' post.

+2 252 Atk Cornerstone Mask Tera Rock Ogerpon-Cornerstone-Tera Ivy Cudgel vs. 244 HP / 36 Def Gliscor: 396-466 (112.5 - 132.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe

Jolly Nature
- Wave Crash
- Flip Turn
- Aqua Jet
- Psychic Fangs

Basculegion is a check. It hates switching in on Knock Off, and can't take a boosted one at all unless it's already Tera'd, but is faster than Gliscor and immune to Facade. This allows Basculegion to switch in and threaten an OHKO with Wave Crash, dealing so much damage that if Rain is up (and ideally, it should be if you're using Basculegion) even Terastalizing won't save it. Flip Turn and Aqua Jet also deal a lot of damage.

Tera Water increases Basculegion's damage output further, but you do lose the Normal immunity, which is important to keep in mind.

Corviknight @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Tera Type: Dragon
Impish Nature
- Body Press
- Iron Defense
- Defog
- Roost

Corviknight is a counter. While it's not an immediate threat to Gliscor, with Iron Defense, Roost, and Rocky Helmet damage it becomes one heck of a brick wall for it -- Knock Off only really fixes the latter problem. If Gliscor Terastalizes, then it ends up in somewhat of an awkward spot, since its Fighting resistance becomes a weakness, and the damage boost to Facade only helps if Corviknight isn't actively boosting up with Iron Defense for whatever reason.

Clear Smog keeps Gliscor from setting up too much, and your Synthesis PP will last long enough to make Worry Seed a OHKO.

Apologies, subs were closed yesterday - doesn't look like anyone subbed past DL though so we should be fine. I'll put up voting in a bit.

Voting is here!
Since counters are defined as things that can switch in on an attack, this would not be a counter - SD on the Switch into a +2 Facade -> +2 Tera Normal Facade kills you, and you're not doing enough back. A reminder to please label what you are submitting something as: a check or a counter.
While I don't want every check or counter to be airtight and able to beat a mon with max hazards up, this came up last week and we will unfortunately not be accepting Sash / Sturdy solutions; with Sash, any Endeavor + priority mon checks nearly anything, while any faster, frail check to a mon is theoretically a counter with Focus Sash.

With that in mind, I can't accept this Ogerpon-C submission as it relies on Sturdy to be able to set up on Gliscor and beat it.

Congratulations on the double win! Your sets will be added to our Hall of Fame. Our next week will be visiting one of the Paradox Pokemon, this time an UUBL knight that has never quite cemented itself a place in OU but has always had a place as a threat in the tier. Can anything out-muscle Iron Hands?

:sv/Iron_Hands:
Iron Hands @ Booster Energy
Ability: Quark Drive
Tera Type: Flying
EVs: 244 Atk / 180 SpD / 84 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Drain Punch
- Thunder Punch
- Ice Punch
- Swords Dance

With a massive Attack stat further boosted by Swords Dance and its held Booster Energy, Iron Hands finds a place in OU as a check to Dark- and Steel-types that also happens to rip through a majority of the tier with its dual STAB and coverage. Monstrous Drain Punches pair well with its great natural bulk to give it added longevity, and Thunder Punch is perfectly complemented by Ice Punch to provide BoltBeam coverage for an outstanding offensive profile. With enough EVs in Speed to outrun base 60s, Iron Hands can invest heavily in Special Defense to patch up its main weakness and give this offensive behemoth the ability to consistently find winning trades. Tera Flying lets Hands dodge Ground-type attacks from would-be checks and also gives Iron Hands a resistance to Body Press from opposing Iron Defense users that may hope to go boost-for-boost with it - what can unhand this devastating threat?

Submissions are open until Friday, February 7th at 11:59PM EST
You may submit up to 1 check and 1 counter!

Garchomp @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 252 HP / 216 Def / 40 Spe
Tera Type: Ghost
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- Dragon Tail
- Stealth Rock
- Spikes

Garchomp is a check. While it can't take an Ice Punch without Terastalizing, it's immune to Thunder Punch and the damage from Rocky Helmet + Rough Skin outdamages Drain Punch healing under most circumstances. In return, it can threaten a 2HKO with Earthquake if Iron Hands doesn't Terastalize or attempt to phaze it out with Dragon Tail even if it does.

It's worth noting that, upon Terastalizing, Iron Hands becomes weak to Stealth Rock, which Garchomp can also set up.

Ability: Unaware
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Tera Type: Fairy
Bold Nature
- Torch Song
- Slack Off
- Will-O-Wisp
- Hex

Skeledirge is a counter. Its typing gives it an immunity to Drain Punch and Unaware allows it to ignore Swords Dance boosts, potentially allowing it to sit on Iron Hands for quite a while without ever giving it the opportunity to heal up. In return, Skeledirge can burn it with Will-O-Wisp to lower its damage output even further or boost up itself with Torch Song.
