Judge My Lineup
I've been struggling creating teams that actually worked for me because of my desire not to use Blissey as a Special Wall. I had tried all sorts of Pokemon to replace her: Blastoise, Umbreon, Slowking, Milotic, Claydol, Vaporeon, Dusknoir, Clefable (who is awesome), and Shuckle just to name a few. I gave into fate and finally tried Blissey for the first time. I was completely amazed at her powers of Special Sponging O_O. This team has not been thoroughly tested, but in the battles I HAVE done on Shoddy, it has done VERY well. It centers on Salamence as my main Pokemon and everyone else is there for support, taking hits, or getting rid of troublesome Pokemon. It is a team of good synergy who work incredibly well together. I present my latest and most powerful team to date.
The Warriors:
=======================================================
Swampert @ Leftovers
Relaxed Nature
252 HP/60 Attack/148 Defense/50 Special Defense
-Avalanche
-Earthquake
-Roar
-Stealth Rock
Swampert is perhaps the greatest lead there is. Avalanche completely screws over leading Dragons, Roar destroys Baton Passers, Substituters, and those who like to set up. Earthquake is his strongest STAB move which annihilates Metagross, Jolteon, Heatran, Tyranitar, and others. Stealth Rocks makes sure that any Focus Sasher that tries to come in fails miserably and falls to one of my powerful beasts.
Weezing @ Black Sludge
Bold Nature
252 HP/252 Defense/6 Special Attack
-Pain Split
-Will-o-wisp
-Flamethrower
-Thunderbolt
Weezing is an incredibly good Physical Wall and counters the few things that Swampert can't touch -Dragon Dance Gyarados! He comes in on a Dragon Dance and 2HKO's Gyarados before it can so much as blink. If I predict a switch to an Electivire, then I'll either Pain Split off my damage, Will-o-wisp for Attack Reduction and damage, or Flamethrower and hope for the best. Weezing's immunity to Earthquakes and resistantce to Close Combats makes it the perfect switch in to Heracross, Machamp, and other fighting types. It is also a great Weavile Counter.
Blissey @ Leftovers
Calm Nature
252 Defense/218 Special Defense/40 Special Attack
-Softboiled
-Thunder Wave
-Seismic Toss
-Flamethrower/???
I feel incredibly stupid that I didn't try Blissey sooner. She is a GOD. Even with EVs only in Defense (I forgot to add anything else during my Shoddy Battles, forgive me), she walls pretty much anything besides Specs Lucario and Specs Alakazam (and I've got a great counter for those two anyways). Softboiled is a given on any Blissey. Thunder Wave is delicious for slowing down switch-ins and allows my Sweepers a few free turns. Seismic Toss is perfect for stall battles without a Dusknoir in there. I chose Flamethrower as my final move after looking at Obi's Blissey, but so far, I've really only used it sparingly so I'm not sure if there is something better I'd put in. I'm not going to use Ice Beam because it is only really there for Dragons (whom Blissey wouldn't be staying in against anyways). I went with Calm over Bold because with a little bit more Sp. Def, Blissey can take on more Special Sweepers, which is why she is here in the first place. I need help with the EVs please.
Salamence @ Leftovers
Adamant Nature
120 HP/252 Attack/136 Speed
-Dragon Claw
-Earthquake
-Dragon Dance
-Substitute
Salamence is the main Pokemon on my team and is basically a DDmence with a few tweaks. Substitute over Fire Fang and Rock Slide is the main change here, but is incredibly worthy. It allows me to kill pesky Ice Shard Weaviles and Mamoswines who like to cause so much trouble and it is the greatest Status Blocking attack in the world. It means that Tangrowth can't do ANYTHING to Salamence save for trying to break my Substitute with 1/4th power Power Whips :P. It's very satisfying to bring this thing out late game and sweep the entire opposing team with it.
Gengar @ Choice Specs
Timid Nature
252 Special Attack/252 Speed/6 HP
-Shadow Ball
-Focus Blast
-Thunderbolt
-HP {Ice}
SpecsGar is incredibly underestimated. A +1 Special Attack Shadow Ball is nothing to laugh at and at 350 Speed, Gengar can easily outspeed most threats and KO them. He is my main revenge killer, being the fastest Pokemon on the team and (I think) can 3HKO Blissey (if Blissey is stupid enough to not Softboiled) with Focus Blast. HP Ice is my main weapon against Swords Dancing Garchomps who are locked into Outrage (which I personally think is a very bad move). The main reason for Gengar to live is for it to Kill opposing Physical Walls and Bulky Waters, and I mean Gliscor, Donphan, Hippowdon, Weezing, Swampert, etc etc etc. Gengar also blocks those pesky Rapid Spinners. Fear the Shadows.
Gallade @ Lum Berry
Adamant Nature
172 HP/252 Attack/86 Speed
-Drain Punch
-Night Slash
-Swords Dance
-Hypnosis
Gallade is my Mid-Game Physical Sweeper and Sleeper. The only Pokemon currently incredibly active in the OU Metagame that resists this set is Heracross (who comes in and falls asleep). Drain Punch OHKOs Blissey and Snorlax after a Swords Dance and I'm pretty sure it'll OHKO Tyranitar no matter what. With Gengar being a Choice User, my Primary Sleeping duties fall to Gallade who usually pulls them off no problem. If Salamence somehow falls, the opposing team will usually be weak enough for Gallade to pick off the remnants. Lum Berry is especially good on Gallade as it allows him to come in once on Toxic Spikes, or get a free round of setting up when someone uses Thunder Wave or Will-o-wisp on him.
It may need a tiny bit more work (especially Blissey), but overall I like this team and it has worked well for me.
