Sweet DrEaMzZ OU RMT

Hello Smogon,

This is my second RMT . The inspiration for this team came to me when I was reading The Smog 10 and they were talking about cores so I decided to give one a try that involved Ttar and that's where the team comes from.

The Building Process

I choose Ttar as my first pokemon because of It's versatility and Sandstorm for the extra sp.def on some of the other members.

The Assistors

Next added these two simply because of their type coverage Gengar covered my weakness to fighting whilst Magnezone helps have a counter to that pesky scizor an Other steel types.

next up was suicune she was added to create a resisitance to fire and to cover pert and Quagsire she also added some much needed Defense to the team as it is mainly aggression . She is also a great counter other bulky waters with HP Grass.

Then I decided to fix up a beast lead I originally tried machamp but I found that to be a bit Slugish and I was struglling with it so I tried out my own custom Ape set and it worked I guess.

Last But not least is my Kingdra a trusty Dragon Type to give me coverage and yet another heatran counter.

Edit Testing Uxie

Infernape (F) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd/2 SAtk
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Stealth Rock
- Fire Punch
- Encore
- Mach Punch
---
A Lead Ape set with some major changes This set utilises the move Encore which is an incredibly underated move in the OU ladder . I use Jolly to outspeed most common leads. I use Mach Punch on this just to kill weakened pokes because it has priority so great move to kill off other focus sash leads before they kill me. Fire Punch is used for the STAB without the recoil of Flareblitz which defeats the point of using Sash. I use rocks because I can get them set up for free whilst the opponent is locked into stealthrock via encore .

Here Is what I do against most common Leads Green No problem Red Big Problem Yellow Difficult but possible

482_30_0.png
-
Azelf:Azelf Is Quite Difficult To take out as some times I out speed but Normally I will Encore First turn and Depending on what move he used be it psychic or Flamethrower I'll switch Ttar to take psychic of Flamethrower and get the kill.

142_20_0.png
Aerodactyl
: Just Encore First Turn Stick them into stealth rock they switch = Free rocks

260_20_0.png
-
Swampert: More Challenging Lead lead Out with Mach Punch and Then Encore and switch to Cune to kill it off with HP Grass.

68_20_0.png
-
Machamp: Fire Punch First Turn and They'll trap them selves into Dynamic Punch The Next turn when I Encore but this Plan Rarely works thus killing off Infernape.

376_30_0.png
-
Metagross: Fire Punch Gross first turn then then switch out to magnezone on the BP and HP Fire.

385_30_0.png
-
Jirachi: Switch to zone on the first turn to take the trick and HP fire.

392_20_0.png
-
Infernape: switch to Gengar to take the fake out and then Shadow ball.

291_20_0.png
-
Ninjask: Encore it’s substitute and set up rock then bring out TTar.

407_20_0.png
Roserade
: leave Infernape in and Spam fire punch first turn and if the sleep powder misses just Mach punch to finish it .

450_20_0.png
-
Hippowdon: Encore the Rocks and Then Switch to Kingdra to try and set up.

248_21_0.png
-
Tyranitar: Mach Punch first turn then Mach Punch a second time for the KO. With me left at my sash.

485_20_0.png
-
Heatran: Switch out to Gengar to take the Earth Power then set up sub as he switches out .

235_20_0.png
- Smeargle
:I’ve never faced one so I don’t know

121_30_0.png
Starmie
: These things are death to Infernape All I can do is switch to Zone and T wave on the switch.

Tyranitar (M) @ Choice Band
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 56 HP/200 Atk/252 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Crunch
- Stone Edge
- Pursuit
- Aqua Tail
---

Choice Band Ttar A pretty standard set Pursuit for those players who flee from Ttar Aqua tail type coverage and to give me a good way to kill heatran and Gliscor combo which is a pain to my team Crunch is there for the stab on pokemon like Swampert who go down in two shots of this beast . The Sandstorm helps the team out to give Magnezone extra sp .def to out stall other pokemon. 56 Hp to give it some bulkyness to take a hit or two before Ttar hits them because of his low speed .
94_21_0.png

Gengar (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Substitute
- Shadow Ball
- Focus Blast
- Pain Split
---
Gengar is a very good pokemon for this team being able to resist my biggest weakness Fighting which is perfect for countering lucario a big pain for this team .The spe and Sp atk are for the simple reason to make me faster and make gengar more of a pain for the enemy team. Substitute is here to make gengar last longer and then Pain split for a last ditch attempt at weakening the opponent for the other pokemon. Timid is run to help me eliminate the faster threats in the metagame and set up a sub before the opponent.

462_31_0.png

Magnezone @ Leftovers
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 172 HP/84 Spd/252 SAtk
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Thunderbolt
- Thunder Wave
- Substitute
- Hidden Power [Fire]
---
Magnezone one of my more bulky pokemon who gains the Sp.def boost from sandstorm .172 HP is required for taking the bulk of a Scizor Bullet punch and leaving me with enough HP to kill the following turn. HP fire is run as this is my anti steel pokemon as it has magnet pull Substitute is here to help me stall the opponent out and allow me to safely pull of T wave which adds a problem to the opponent allowing me to set up kingdra or Gengar.
245_31_0.png

Suicune @ Life Orb
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 40 HP/252 Spd/216 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Hidden Power [Grass]
- Shadow Ball
- Surf
- Ice Beam
---
Suicune adds a much needed resistance to water to the team as well as another sweeper and an anti Pert machine with HP grass I can safely switch into pert and HP grass that annoying thing. Life orb is to help add power without restricting my moves people always expect cune to CM so they stay in with whatever they have. But then they get hit right in the face with a move from it . 40 HP evs where invested to help Suicune live pert EQ’S And the likes 252 spd is run to out speed other 85 base speed pokes with modest or adamant . Shadow ball is used as a bit of a gimmick as it is not expected on a Suicune.

230_20_0.png

Kingdra (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs:252 atk 252 spd 4 HP
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Dragon Dance
- Outrage
- Substitute
- Waterfall
---
Last but not least Is a Kingdra This Kingdra set is very recognisable and deadly The Set gets Phenominal type coverage as only two pokemon resist it and that’s empoleon and shedninja. The set is very good and helps me to push for the win in the late game. Leftovers over Lum berry is because I’d rather get recovery every turn than a one turn save from statuses. Pretty standard E’vs no Explaining Necessary.

Edit Now Running DD Gyara

Threat List

The Team has a few threats that unless unchecked will screw me over.

Lucario : difficult to counter but possible , switch to gengar set up a sub and then Focus blast at him as he is weak to it and Luke can do too much to gengar.

I also have a problem with Breloom and other fighting types are big problems for me.[/FONT]

Okay. A few problems.

On Magnezone, run 40 HP / 252 SpA / 216 Spe. The spread you have now is outdated and that one is more effective at trapping Metagross, so you should also consider Magnet Rise over Thunder Wave. As a side note, Magnezone doesn't get a SpDef boost from Sandstorm.

You are horribly weak to DDGyara, so Celebi is worth considering as it will counter Gyarados and Breloom. I really don't see what Suicune does for this team so you may want to drop him for Celebi.

That leaves you open to Infernape and Lucario, so how about a Gyarados of your own over Kingdra? The offensive Dragon Dance set on site will probably be the best for this team.

I've never been a believer in Scarfed Tyranitar but it may be useful than CB here because it provides some much needed relief against Starmie.

I agree with Magnezone but I can counter Gyara with Kingdra and Scarf isnt necessary for me on Ttar just because of the fact that it isnt very fast anyway and Scarf wont make a major difference

I think that you have a very good line up here, but there are actually a few flaws that need to be attended in order to make the team function properly. Below, I'll list the problems that I've spotted so far:

  • Infernape: there is no doubt that this is a very good lead, however, I believe that he's not the best Pokemon that you can use for this position. A new weakness to Ground-type moves is being added by using Infernape in the lead position, which is not good since you already have Tyranitar and Magnezone (part of your core) that share that same weakness.
  • Tyranitar: the problem with this one is that there is no need to prioritize maxing Speed over Attack when the main objective of this Pokemon is to hit as hard as possible with his combination of moves -- attempting to outspeed a certain number of Pokemon is not what you should aim for with Choice Band Tyranitar.
  • Magnezone: Hidden Power Fire is not really needed on this set that you're using. Magnezone's main purpose on this team is to trap Scizor and Jirachi when they attempt to Bullet Punch / Iron Head Gengar or Tyranitar, respectively. However, Magnezone is perfectly capable of 2HKOing Scizor with Thunderbolt and set up a Substitute in the process, while Jirachi (and other Steel-type Pokemon, except Forretress) are hit with T-Bolt as strong as with HP Fire.
  • Suicune: Hidden Power Grass is a waste on this Pokemon -- Swampert can be dealt with Surf.

Apart from the problems that I listed above, the likes of Dragon Dance Gyarados, and Agility sweepers such as Empoleon and Metagross can cause your team several problems. The former, Gyarados, can set up on Tyranitar's Aqua Tail / Pursuit, Infernape, and to a lesser extent, Suicune. On the other hand, Empoleon and Metagross have different opportunities to set up Agility and cause pain to your team; for example, Empoleon can OHKO everything on your team after having acquired the boost by Petaya Berry, while Metagross stands in a very similar position OHKOing Gengar, Tyranitar, and Magnezone. My first recommendation in order to solve some of the aforementioned problems is to remove Infernape and use Choice Scarf Uxie in the lead position. Here you have the specifics:

485.png

Impish nature
Evs: 252 HP / 104 Def / 152 Spe
Trick | Stealth Rock | U-turn | Thunder Wave

By using Uxie, you not only add an immunity to Ground-type moves, but you can also cripple leads such as Swampert and Gliscor by Tricking the Scarf onto them. I recommend using Thunder Wave in the last slot as this can be of considerable help against the users of Agility that I listed before; bear in mind that Uxie is a very bulky Pokemon, and therefore it can resist several hits from both sides of the spectrum. The given Evs allow Uxie to outspeed base 130s like Crobat and Aerodactyl while holding a Choice Scarf. You can find here more details in reference to this set.

With this out of the way, I'd like to suggest a few changes with regards to the problems listed at the beginning of this post. As for Tyranitar, I recommend using a simpler spread, concretely the following one: 160 HP / 252 Atk / 96 Spe which basically maxes up your Attack and uses a bit more of HP Evs that are useful to take hits from the likes of Rotom-A and Jolteon slightly better. On Magnezone, I think it's worth trying out HP Ice instead of the current one, as this will allow you to hit Ground-types for supper effective damage -- Flygon and Gliscor are the prime examples of this. Finally, use HP Electric on Suicune, which will also fix the problem with DD Gyarados to some extent.

That's all I wanted to say. Good luck with your team.
