Swoobat (QC: 0/2)

42FF8671-2F2A-4F3B-908A-6FDC11F1CCC7.gif

[OVERVIEW]
Swoobat’s ability gives it the potential to become very powerful when paired with stat boosting moves and items. Furthermore, its high speed stat gives it the abilty to outspeed many pokemon in the meta such as Hitmontop, Togedemaru and Scrafty. However, its limited movepool and typing leave it with no way to counter various threats, such as Togedemaru and as a result, relies on setting up to be useful.

[SET]
name: Defensive Seed Sweeper
move 1: Calm Mind
move 2: Roost
move 3: Stored Power
move 4: Air Slash / Substitute
item: Grassy Seed / Electric Seed
ability: Simple
nature: Timid
evs: 36 HP / 164 Def / 56 SpA / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Swoobat can get a huge amount of momentum in a few turns and if played right, it can sweep right from the start of the game.
The choice of Electric or Grassy Seed comes from the fact that both can raise defence and therefore both are viable depending on what the rest of your team is (typically Pincurchin or Thwackey are reliable terrain setters). However, the electric terrain would boost the power of supereffective electric-type moves, increasing the likelihood of a ohko

This set can also be used at the beginning of a game if there are no dark types or any with Cursed Body and works really well when using Thwackey (min speed) with u-turn to switch into the swoobat while they are still setting up. However, due to swoobat’s poor bulk, it is better to put it in front of a physical mon as the grassy seed will increase its defence stat enough to reduce the odds of a OHKO

Air Slash is usually the better move to run because Swoobat’s poor bulk results in Substitute being largely ineffective (PU has a mostly offensive meta) and due to it being very fast, it doesn’t even need one after it raises its stats. Additionally, Air Slash can be used to hit any Pokémon that Stored Power can’t and also to prevent it from being disabled by Pokémon such as Pyukumuku and Froslass.

This set has various checks and threats, most notably Aggron and Glastrier, both able to OHKO it and both can survive a Stored Power after one Calm Mind. Additionally, Pokémon running Haze or Clear Smog can impact Swoobat heavily as a result of Swoobat weak base stats.

I'm aware that this analysis is still being worked on, but QC would like for the following set to be what you write about:

[SET]
name: Grassy Seed Sweeper
move 1: Calm Mind
move 2: Roost
move 3: Stored Power
move 4: Air Slash / Heat Wave
item: Grassy Seed
ability: Simple
nature: Timid
evs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 Spe

The problem with your sets is that they are too niche to produce consistent results. For example, the first set relies on being hit by a super effective move to properly function, which isn't ideal on Swoobat of all Pokemon considering its lackluster bulk, the fact that Choice Scarf users like Togedemaru can pick it off right after it uses Endure, and the prevalence of multi-hit moves in Dual Wingbeat and Rock Blast. All of this similarly applies to the second set as well. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me or any other member of the team about them.

AM check, comments in bold. Just a few quick tips: the paragraphs in your set comments aren't supposed to be separated apart like that, they should be one big paragraph, and in a few cases, two paragraphs. There are also a few grammar and spelling mistakes here. I suggest using something like Grammarly to make the grammar prose's job easier when they get to your analysis. Remember that the names of items, Pokemon, moves, and stats are always capitalized. These analyses also use American English spelling for words (ex: defense, not defence)

[OVERVIEW]
Swoobat’s ability gives it the potential to become very powerful when paired with stat boosting moves and items (many Pokemon have abilities and are able to become very powerful when paired with stat boosting moves and items, I think you should specify what Swoobat has or does to set itself apart from other Pokemon, like the ability to boost faster with Simple. This is especially important considering Swoobat is C-Rank and is considered less viable.). Furthermore, its high speed stat gives it the abilty to outspeed many pokemon in the meta such as Hitmontop, Togedemaru and Scrafty (these are all pretty slow Pokemon though, apart from Choice Scarf Togedemaru, which is uncommon. I think you should include some faster Pokemon that can't force out a +2 Swoobat, like Charizard and Scyther). However, its limited movepool and typing leave it with no way to counter various threats, such as Togedemaru and as a result, relies on setting up to be useful.

[SET]
name: Defensive Seed Sweeper
move 1: Calm Mind
move 2: Roost
move 3: Stored Power
move 4: Air Slash / Substitute
item: Grassy Seed / Electric Seed
ability: Simple
nature: Timid
evs: 36 HP / 164 Def / 56 SpA / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Swoobat can get a huge amount of momentum in a few turns and if played right, it can sweep right from the start of the game. (lines like this in anaylses are unneccassary fluff, just get to the information at the start or put this line in the overview.)
The choice of Electric or Grassy Seed comes from the fact that both can raise defence and therefore both are viable depending on what the rest of your team is (typically Pincurchin or Thwackey are reliable terrain setters) (this is true information but it can be shortened, there's no reason to stretch out the sentence like this). However, the electric terrain would boost the power of supereffective electric-type moves, increasing the likelihood of a ohko (also true but this is not mainly why Electric Seed is not used as often, it's because Pincurchin is borderline viable and rarely seen on teams due to being slow and having little bulk.)

This set can also be used at the beginning of a game if there are no dark types or any with Cursed Body and works really well when using Thwackey (min speed) with u-turn to switch into the swoobat while they are still setting up (this is possible but a VERY risk move, especially if Swoobat is a team's win condition, I would specify how risky a move like this is). However, due to swoobat’s poor bulk, it is better to put it in front of a physical mon (I would point out not just any physical mon, as Rock-types like Gigalith and Regirock can use Rock Blast to deal significant damage even after the Defense boost and slap Swoobat with a Toxic as it Roosts) as the grassy seed will increase its defence stat enough to reduce the odds of a OHKO

Air Slash is usually the better move to run because Swoobat’s poor bulk results in Substitute being largely ineffective (PU has a mostly offensive meta) (I would avoid pointing out references to specific metas because they can change due to tier shifts and the like making some playstyles more viable than others. If Substitute is as ineffective as you say, then it would be better to point out its other flaws.) and due to it being very fast, it doesn’t even need one after it raises its stats (fast Pokemon still use Substitute in order to stall out PP, block themselves from status, and to help them set up against weak Pokemon. Again, I would focus more on while Substitute fails in the context of Swoobat if you think Substitute is a subpar move choice.). Additionally, Air Slash can be used to hit any Pokémon that Stored Power can’t and also to prevent it from being disabled by Pokémon such as Pyukumuku (not very viable + almost never runs Disable, try using Jellicent instead.) and Froslass.

This set has various checks and threats, most notably Aggron and Glastrier, both able to OHKO it and both can survive a Stored Power after one Calm Mind. Additionally, Pokémon running Haze or Clear Smog can impact Swoobat heavily as a result of Swoobat weak base stats (I would reword this to explain that it only removes Swoobat's boosted stats, just to be more clear.).

The order in analyses goes moves (don't explain STAB moves), items (explain these unless the item is covered in the overview), ability (if not self explanatory, like Mesprit, who only has one ability), EVs + nature (don't explain max/max spreads like 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe), and finally partners. Make sure your analysis conforms to this structure.
