• Air Slash is Swoobat's strongest and most reliable Flying STAB option, and has the added benefit of potentially flinching would-be checks such as Silvally-Dark and Beheeyem. However, above and beyond relying on lucky flinches to bypass checks, Air Slash doesn't complement Stored Power at all, missing out on much needed coverage against Steel-types, especially Metang and Bronzor.
• Shadow Ball provides coverage against Psychic-types such as Beheeyem, but doesn't give Swoobat optimal coverage against Dark-types like Zweilous. Signal Beam on the other hand does more damage to Pokemon like Exeggutor and Cacturne while providing coverage against Silvally-Dark. However, Signal Beam only hits Alolan Grimer and Pawniard neutrally, and again is insufficient versus Metang and Bronzor.
• Psychic in theory provides Swoobat with a more reliable STAB option that is still stronger than Stored Power after one Calm Mind. However, because Substitute freely allows Swoobat to get itself in range of Salac Berry activation, Stored Power becomes more powerful than Psychic when Swoobat is more likely to attack,
