* Charm helps Sylveon beat slower physical attackers like offensive Azumarill and Choice Band Ting-Lu.
* Draining Kiss provides Sylveon enough recovery to beat Choice Band Donphan.
* Fake Tears can be used to beat stall Azumarill, while Hyper Voice can be used to have a better matchup against Leech Seed Meowscarada.
* The EVs allow Sylveon to outspeed Choice Band Donphan and survive its Gunk Shot twice by using Charm on turn 1, then using Draining Kiss twice to secure the win.
* An alternate EV spread of 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA with a Bold nature can be used to have the best possible odds against Choice Band Meowscarada. This set should also use Hyper Voice to reliably win against Leech Seed sets. However, this set loses against Donphan, and Choice Band Meowscarada's Giga Impact still has a slight chance to OHKO Sylveon. It's also unreliable against Ting-Lu, as Choice Band Ting-Lu can outspeed and beat it with Heavy Slam.
