Duraludon is an imposing tank in the metagame, capable of shrugging off hits with its Eviolite and threatening massive damage back with Draco Meteor. Body Press uses Duraludon's naturally high Defense stat to hit Dark- and Steel-types like Scrafty, Alolan Sandslash, and Copperajah for big damage. Stealth Rock Duraludon is an excellent entry hazard setter, as it can establish hazards against the primary forms of removal, like Alolan Sandslash, Coalossal, and Altaria, safely. Dragon Pulse gives a strong STAB attack that doesn't drop its Special Attack stat the way Draco Meteor does, preventing Pokemon like Bellibolt from recovering after the stat drop comfortably. Eviolite bolsters Duraludon's bulk to significant levels, giving it tremendous longevity and the ability to take advantage of its offensive output. A Modest nature lets Duraludon dish out massive damage with its STAB attacks, and with 16 Speed EVs, it outpaces Golurk. Tera Ghost removes the weakness to Fighting-type attacks, which is important against the litany of strong wallbreakers like Paldean Tauros-W and -F, Scrafty, and Pawmot. Being able to avoid a KO with Tera Ghost and threaten to fire off strong Draco Meteors allows Duraludon to break through its checks and make way for teammates to clean late-game. Tera Fairy similarly turns its weakness to Fighting into a resistance, and it also gains an immunity to Dragon to help with Tatsugiri and opposing Duraludon. Tera Dragon turns up the heat with Draco Meteor, turning would-be switch ins like Assault Vest Galarian Slowbro and Gastrodon into potential 2HKOs with entry hazard chip damage.
Balance and bulky offense teams appreciate Duraludon for its ability to set entry hazards and provide an offensive and defensive presence. Offensively, Duraludon threatens to break through defensive cores with strong Draco Meteors and Flash Cannons hitting Pokemon like Bellibolt, Florges, and Rotom-H for big damage, enabling teammates like Arcanine and Scream Tail late-game. With Eviolite and a solid defensive typing in Dragon / Steel, Duraludon has plenty of opportunities to switch into Pokemon, like Skuntank and Staraptor, that threaten its teammates such as Houndstone and Decidueye. Galarian Slowbro and Gastrodon are notable teammates, as the former can absorb Fighting-type attacks for Duraludon, while the latter can establish Spikes and form a hazard stacking duo that is difficult to break. With support from Knock Off users like Ambipom, Bombirdier, and Skuntank, hazard damage can accumulate rapidly as Pokemon lose their Heavy-Duty Boots. Offensive teammates that can capitalize on this hazard stacking, like notable wallbreakers Paldean Tauros-W and Decidueye, find plenty of opportunities to come in and wreak havoc, especially with additional pivot support from Ambipom and Bombirdier. Other VoltTurn Pokemon like Kilowattrel and Rotom-H can invite defensive walls like Bellibolt and Coalossal in, giving Duraludon safe entry to hit them hard with its STAB attacks. Teammates that can absorb Knock Off to maintain Duraludon's Eviolite, like Paldean Tauros-W and Skuntank, work in tandem with Duraludon to promote its longevity and maintain hazards. Mudsdale is a valuable defensive teammate as well, capable of switching into the strong Fighting-type attacks that Duraludon fears while also providing Stealth Rock support to free up Duraludon to use another attack like Dragon Pulse for consistent damage output.
