Tapu Bulu @ Life Orb
Ability: Grassy Surge
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Horn Leech
- Swords Dance
- Zen Headbutt
- Substitute

This Tapu has been boolin’ on Fairy teams since the beginning of this generation and has shifted to a wallbreaker role with the rise of this set. Horn Leech under Grassy Terrain after Swords Dance devastates many defensive cores in the current metagame, such as the Normal-type core of Chansey and Porygon2 and the Water-type core of Mantine, Swampert, and Toxapex. Zen Headbutt OHKOes Mega Venusaur after Swords Dance, though Superpower is another option to check Steel-types such as Ferrothorn. Substitute makes sweeping easier against defensive foes by guaranteeing a free attack or Swords Dance boost. Because Tapu Bulu has is weak to Flying and Poison, pair it with Tapu Koko and Klefki. The former uses its Electric-type STAB moves in Electric Terrain to break down Tapu Bulu's Flying-type checks in Celesteela and Skarmory, while the latter provides a Poison-type immunity and dual screens support, making it easier for Tapu Bulu to sweep. Klefki also enjoys Grassy Terrain by halving the power of physical Ground-type moves, extending its longevity.

This Tapu has been Boolin on Fairy teams since the beginning of this generation, and has shifted roles from revenge killer to wallbreaker with the rise of this set. The combination of Swords Dance and STAB-boosted Horn Leech under Grassy Terrain devastates many defensive balance cores in the current metagame, such as the Normal-type core of Chansey and Porygon2, and the Water-type core of Mantine, Swampert, and Toxapex.
- mention substitute being able to avoid status being a good part of the reason it can so reliably beat defensive pokemon. also while these cores are used on balanced teams by nature they are defensive not balanced

Zen Headbutt is used to OHKO Mega Venusaur after a Swords Dance boost, though Superpower is another option Tapu Bulu can use to threaten Steel-types such as Ferrothorn. Because Tapu Bulu has crippling weaknesses to Flying- and Poison-types, pair it up with Tapu Koko and Klefki.

The former uses its Electric-type STAB in Electric Terrain to break down Tapu Bulu's Flying-type checks in Celesteela and Skarmory, while the latter provides a Poison-type immunity and synergizes well with Grassy Terrain by halving physical Ground-type moves, extending its longevity.
- Tapu Bulu also appreciates Klefki's screens allowing it to setup SD easier

Zen Headbutt is used to OHKOes Mega Venusaur after a Swords Dance boost, though Superpower is another option Tapu Bulu can use to check Steel-types such as Ferrothorn. Substitute only makes setup sweeping easier against defensive presences foes by guaranteeing a free attack or Swords Dance boost. Because Tapu Bulu has weaknesses is weak to to Flying-(remove hyphen) and Poison-types, pair it with Tapu Koko and Klefki.
