[Overview]

Tapu Lele is an incredibly powerful wallbreaker thanks to the combination of its solid offensive stats and access to Psychic Surge, dominating bulkier teams and being very difficult to switch into. Its good coverage and access to boosting options further boost its power to wallbreak. It takes advantage of slow, bulky teams by switching in whenever possible and wallbreaking common defensive cores built of Pokemon such as Clefable, Toxapex, and Buzzwole. Steel-types like Ferrothorn and Heatran trouble it, but they can be circumvented by chipping them down with its strong STABs and hitting them hard with its strong but unreliable coverage in Focus Blast. Low physical bulk and an average Speed tier hold it back as well, but its power can make up for these shortcomings in most cases as a wallbreaker. Tapu Lele also usually relies on Choice items, which can make it exploitable by Pokemon that can take some of its attacks with ease like Tyranitar, Slowking, and Heatran while also being heavily prediction reliant for wallbreaking. If predicted wrong, Tapu Lele can lose a lot of momentum for a team, but the strength from every move clicked makes up for it being forced out sometimes.

[SET COMMENTS]

Choice Specs Tapu Lele is one of the most threatening wallbreakers in OU, being able to 2HKO almost every Pokemon in the tier due to its incredibly powerful Psychic-type STAB under Psychic Terrain and its good coverage options to hit Pokemon that resist its STAB moves. Focus Blast is crucial for hitting Steel-types that resist both Tapu Lele's STAB moves like Heatran, Ferrothorn, and Scizor. Psychic and Thunderbolt are interchangeable, both allowing Tapu Lele to pressure different checks. Psychic gives Tapu Lele its hardest hitting attack to have a strong midground option on many Pokemon, while Thunderbolt lets it 2HKO specially defensive Corviknight and Slowking. A Modest nature gives Tapu Lele a massive power boost, having a chance to even OHKO Heatran with Focus Blast. A Timid nature alternatively lets it speed tie with other Timid Tapu Lele or Kyurem and outrun their Modest nature variants, but there isn't much relevant that Timid nature outspeeds.

Tapu Lele typically fits on offensive teams that are looking for a strong wallbreaker to complement their pivots. Defensive pivots such as Landorus-T, Rotom-W, and Corviknight provide Tapu Lele with opportunities to wallbreak with a free switch-in. It also can't take hits from faster threats like Dragapult and Choice Band Kartana, making partners that can switch into them like Clefable and Corviknight very helpful. Clefable and Corviknight can also provide cleric and pivoting options, respectively. Other strong wallbreakers such as Dragapult, Urshifu-R, and Weavile can help with pressuring Pokemon like Blissey, Heatran, and Corviknight, giving Tapu Lele an easier time wallbreaking. Tapu Lele can bait and force damage onto Steel-types, making Pokemon that struggle against them like Scizor especially enjoy its presence. Weavile baits in most Steel-types and can use Knock Off to remove their items and longevity, making Tapu Lele's job much easier. Magnezone trapping Steel-types is also appreciated making Tapu Lele less prediction reliant. Defensive answers to Heatran are also needed given how much pressure it can apply after forcing out Tapu Lele, making specially defensive Landorus-T and Dragonite helpful partners. As Heatran does switch into Tapu Lele very often, it is susceptible to being chipped meaning other Pokemon like Volcarona that are walled by it are great partners if Tapu Lele can wear down its best check.

move 3: Moonblast
move 4: Thunderbolt / Focus Blast
item: Leftovers
ability: Psychic Surge
nature: Timid
evs: 8 Def / 248 SpA / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

Calm Mind Tapu Lele is a dangerous sweeper and late-game cleaner able to muscle past many checks that otherwise rely on gradual damage and pivoting to check other Choice item variants of Tapu Lele, such as Slowking and Corviknight. It boosts its effectiveness as a cleaner with additional power due to Calm Mind and a freedom of move choice without being Choice-locked. Psyshock targets many common walls like Blissey and Galarian Slowking with weaker Defense than Special Defense, while Psychic hits things like Hippowdon better, but is generally inferior due to Psyshock breaking other Calm Mind users like Clefable and hitting specially defensive walls more effectively. Thunderbolt can easily break through other common checks after boosts, such as Slowking and Corviknight. Focus Blast is used to take out any dangerous Steel-types like Ferrothorn and Heatran, which otherwise wall Tapu Lele. Leftovers gives Tapu Lele longevity, letting it set up against slower teams that rely on chipping it down with Pokemon such as Hippowdon. 8 Defense EVs allow Tapu Lele to survive a Leaf Blade from Choice Scarf Kartana.

Fast offensive Pokemon that can apply early pressure on Steel-types and pivots, such as Dragapult and Weavile, are greatly appreciated, chipping down mutual checks like Ferrothorn and Heatran to make it much easier for Tapu Lele to clean late-game. Magnezone traps Ferrothorn, which allows Tapu Lele to more reliably use Thunderbolt, letting it break Slowking more easily without worrying about having no coverage for Ferrothorn. Kartana and Dragonite pressure Corviknight and threaten out Heatran as well as Choice Band Rillaboom, breaking through common defensive cores, which Tapu Lele appreciates for wallbreaking. Tapu Lele's average Speed tier and Defense with weaknesses to common attacking types leave it susceptible to many revenge killers such as Kartana, Rillaboom, Dragapult, and Zeraora. On balance teams, this makes Pokemon like Landorus-T and Corviknight that can each deal with some of those Pokemon excellent partners, as they can also pivot with U-turn or Teleport to give Tapu Lele opportunities for wallbreaking while preventing it from being fodder for wallbreakers to come in on and getting a KO.

[SET]
name: Choice Scarf
move 1: Psyshock
move 2: Moonblast
move 3: Focus Blast
move 4: Future Sight / Psychic
item: Choice Specs
ability: Psychic Surge
nature: Modest
evs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

Equipped with a Choice Scarf, Tapu Lele is a potent revenge killer that outruns almost all of the unboosted metagame and fires off strong hits in psychic terrain. Psyshock is the main attacking move and way to break checks to it like Galarian Slowking and Blissey, making it easier to fire off the other attacks if they're chipped. Moonblast helps revenge kill Dragapult and Dragonite while being a strong general attacking STAB move. Focus Blast chips down Steel-types that always can come in on its STAB moves and apply huge pressure like Heatran and Ferrothorn, but it can't OHKO either of those so it should be used sparingly as missing or hitting a resist can lead to a big punish. Future Sight support is incredible, as Tapu Lele's high Speed forces out a lot of Pokemon allowing it to take advantage of the switch with Future Sight to assist its teammates. Psychic alternatively is a stronger alternative to Psyshock, notably OHKO'ing Kartana with Stealth Rock while not having to risk the miss chance of Focus Blast, but its offensive presence doesn't match the team support Future Sight has for other breakers. Thunderbolt is a coverage option that also works to pressure Corviknight.

With Tapu Lele acting as speed control and providing Future Sight, powerful breakers love having it around to help force progress and revenge kill the fastest of threats like Dragapult. Choice Band Kartana and Urshifu-R are both checked by Toxapex and Buzzwole, so Future Sight makes it much safer to fire off attacks and break through walls with their strong STAB. Pokemon to bait in Steel-types are also appreciated, as Tapu Lele lacks immediate power with a Choice Scarf so its easier for Steel-types to wall it long term. Weavile, Nature's Madness Tapu Fini, and Dragapult can all bait in Steel-types that can live a few hits from them and chip them down for Tapu Lele to be a late game cleaner as well. Similarly, though, defensive pivots into Steel-types are needed, as with a wrong prediction Tapu Lele becomes helpless against them. Landorus-T and Garchomp can cover for Heatran, while Heatran itself can check others like Ferrothorn and Corviknight. Heatran also applies immense pressure with Future Sight from Tapu Lele, wearing down soft checks like Toxapex, Landorus-T, and Tapu Fini way faster to allow it to spam Magma Storm with freedom.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
====

Tapu Lele can also run Heavy-Duty Boots as its item, removing the fear of entry hazard chip and letting it pivot while attempting to wallbreak more easily. Taunt with 3 attacks lets Tapu Lele stop Pokemon trying to recover to beat it one-on-one like Corviknight while also stopping Slowking from easily pivoting on it with Teleport. A set with Assault Vest takes advantage of Tapu Lele's decent Special Defense to improve its matchup against special attackers like Kyurem and Hydreigon, but many other offensive Pokemon can overwhelm it due to its low physical bulk. Offensive teams appreciate its solid special bulk and typing, but other dedicated defensive pivots usually outclass it.

Checks and Counters
====

**Steel-types**: Most Steel-types resist all of Tapu Lele's STAB moves, leaving only certain coverage options as the way to hit them. Pokemon such as Heatran, Ferrothorn, and Melmetal can switch into its STAB moves with ease while also surviving one Focus Blast, and specially defensive Corviknight only falters to Choice Specs-boosted Thunderbolt. Specially defensive Scizor, Jirachi, and Aegislash also aren't 2HKOed by any common attacks and can threaten it back with their own hard-hitting moves, making them effective counters to Tapu Lele.

**Faster Pokemon**: Tapu Lele's mediocre defensive stats, especially Defense, and its average Speed leave it open to being revenge killed quite easily by common attackers. Kartana, Zeraora, Dragapult, and Rillaboom all pressure it with their Speed, priority attacks, or, in Rillaboom's case, Terrain changing ability.

[Overview]
  • Tapu Lele is one of the strongest special attacking wallbreakers in the metagame.
  • Its high power STAB moves 90-95 bp STABs are somewhat average, would focus more on the special attack and speed tier (specifically good at outspeeding most defensive mons) here combined with Psychic Terrain and good coverage options let it take succeed against many team archetypes and utilize its different sets and potential to the fullest as a wallbreaker or cleaner.
  • It takes advantage of slow bulky teams by switching in whenever possible and breaking with its hard hitting attacks to tear apart common defensive cores built of Pokemon such as Clefable, Toxapex, and Zapdos. what about its role as a cleaner vs offense? elaborate on that part a bit in addition what you've already said about its role as a choice specs wallbreaker vs fat
  • Tapu Lele is the only viable setter of Psychic Terrain, letting it support teammates by powering up their Psychic-type attacks as well as shielding frailer ones from priority moves.
  • It's low physical bulk and average unboosted Speed are some of the biggest factors that hold it back mention specific threats that can come in after being pivoted or revenge kill while taking advantage of these drawbacks (dragapult, zeraora come to mind), but Tapu Lele can still circumvent these fairly well by playing into how great its strengths are and the different sets it is able to run. another fairly important drawback is that tapu lele largely relies on its choice items to make progress, and locking into certain moves can be taken advantage of by the opponent

  • Choice Specs Tapu Lele is one of the most threatening breakers in the tier, being able to 2HKO almost every Pokemon with the right coverage due to its incredibly powerful Psychic-type STAB in terrain and its good coverage options to hit resists to its STAB attacks.
  • before talking about psyshock and thunderbolt, i'd mention here that focus blast lets it hit steel-types like ferrothorn and heatran, which resist both of its STABs, here
  • Psyshock and Thunderbolt are interchangeable, both allowing Tapu Lele to pressure different checks. Psyshock lets it easily break through Blissey and Slowking-G which otherwise walls it, while Thunderbolt lets it 2HKO both specially defensive Corviknight and Slowking, something no other commonly used move accomplishes.
  • although specs lele is a somewhat simple mon (you switch it in and wreak havoc) i think it'd be nice to explain how specs lele specifically has a good matchup vs balance or fatter teams in general. it's a prediction reliant breaker that can force damage on basically anything so that it, or one of its teammates, can break more easily in the future
should add a space between these two paragraphs
  • Defensive pivots greatly help Tapu Lele in being able to switch in safely and start breaking, so Landorus-T, Slowbro and Slowking, Blissey, and Corviknight all fill that role well as partners.
  • Choice Specs Tapu Lele needs defensive teammates to take hits from many faster Pokemon as well such as Dragapult, Tornadus-T, Tapu Koko, Kartana, and others, so bulky defensive cores of Pokemon like Blissey, Corviknight, and Toxapex can provide it with defensive support covering for its main flaw.
  • Other strong special breakers pair well with Tapu Lele such as Kyurem, Nidoking, and Hydreigon, forming a powerful specially offensive core that can overwhelm checks like Blissey and Slowking for each other with the right coverage options. good teammates description here. i would also definitely mention how tapu lele can force damage on steel-types really easily, making room for offensive partners like np torn-t, volcarona, cm fini, cm clef, and other special attackers that would struggle with steels

  • Tapu Lele can trade in its Choice Specs for a Choice Sscarf, letting it be a strong revenge killer and cleaner against weakened teams.
  • there honestly just needs to be more content in this first section... could mention how and why scarf lele is especially common on more offensive teams as a form of offensive speed control, and compare it to some alternative forms of speed control
space between these two paragraphs
  • Slower teams needing speed control to revenge Pokemon like Dragapult greatly benefit from the abilities of Choice Scarf, so slower pivoting partners like Corviknight and Blissey who can take hits and get it in to threaten out an offensive breaker appreciate its presence. usually fatter teams like specs better, and have different means of speed control
  • Pokemon that are able to bait in common specially defensive walls to either remove them or chip them for Choice Scarf Tapu Lele to finish off are great partners to cover for the power difference from Choice Scarf, so Heatran with its trapping set and Nidoking with coverage options like Thunderbolt for Slowking and Corviknight or Focus Punch for Blissey can help Tapu Lele be a more effective cleaner.
  • Wallbreakers that are susceptible to priority and don't have the immediate Speed to take on faster threats like Psychic Terrain being set for them as well as having that fast partner, making Pokemon like Garchomp good partners that benefit from Choice Scarf Tapu Lele's qualities.
i feel like it's tough to figure out what to say with a somewhat one-dimensional mon. i would just elaborate on the specific tools it can offer for offense and why you would pick lele over another form of speed control

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
====
  • Nature's Madness can be useful on Choice Scarf variants, taking off a guaranteed 50% of the opponents HP which coverage moves may not accomplish because of the lack of power Choice Scarf has against some threats, but losing the coverage options is again fairly risky and potentially costly in certain matchups.
  • i think it's necessary to mention here that lele can also run taunt 3 atks or cm 3 atks sets, noting that the choice lock from specs or scarf is no longer present, making lele a more potent wallbreaker in some cases, and describing the benefits and drawbacks of both of those sets
Checks and Counters
====

**Slowking**: Slowking is one of the best natural checks to Tapu Lele, as it can avoid a 2HKO from all attacks barring Thunderbolt, and it can easily pivot in and out with Regenerator to scout a hit and either beat Tapu Lele outright or get in a check to the move being used.

**Steel-types**: Most Steel-types resist all STAB moves from Tapu Lele, leaving only certain coverage options as the way to hit them. [Overview]
  • Tapu Lele is one of the strongest special attacking wallbreakers in the metagame.
  • Its high power STAB moves base Special Attack and decent Speed stats 90-95 BP isn't that strong, but the stats are quite important to its role as it's strong and outspeeds almost all defensive Pokemon combined with Psychic Terrain and good coverage options let it take succeed against many team archetypes not certain about this? It doesn't have a great matchup against more offensive teams that carry faster Pokemon. I would merge the bit about terrain and stats with the next point. and utilize its different sets and potential to the fullest as a wallbreaker or cleaner. There is now only one main set.
  • It takes advantage of slow bulky teams by switching in whenever possible and breaking with its hard hitting attacks to tear apart common defensive cores built of Pokemon such as Clefable, Toxapex, and Zapdos.
  • Tapu Lele is the only viable setter of Psychic Terrain, letting it support teammates like Volcarona I think you should specify an example, as there aren't that many Pokemon that run Psychic-type coverage by powering up their Psychic-type attacks as well as shielding frailer ones them All offensive Pokemon can benefit from this if they get weakened from priority moves.
  • It's low physical bulk and average unboosted As Scarf is not a main set now Speed are some of the biggest factors that hold it back, but Tapu Lele can still circumvent these fairly well by playing into how great its strengths are and the different sets it is able to run. Again, only one set now.

  • Move Choice Scarf to here, but say the reduced power can be undesirable as it can make it more easily exploitable by Pokemon like Slowking and Corviknight once locked into a move.
As Scarf is now going in OO, this is too niche.
  • The team also wants a couple of other sets here which we feel are important enough to mention:
  • A Heavy-Duty Boots set can be used with three attacks and either Calm Mind or Taunt. This allows Tapu Lele to switch in more freely as it can ignore hazard chip, and it can either take advantage of forced switches to set up or punish passive Pokemon like Slowking to find more wallbreaking opportunities. This does, however, limit Tapu Lele's offensive potential due to the lack of a boosting item.
  • An Assault Vest takes advantage of Tapu Lele's decent Special Defense to improve its matchup against special attackers like Kyurem and Hydreigon. However, Tapu Lele can still easily be pressured by many other offensive Pokemon due to its mediocre physical bulk.

Specially defensive Scizor A rising Pokemon that fits this section and is more relevant atm than Aegislash and Jirachi, Jirachi and Aegislash also aren't 2HKO'd by any common attack while threatening back with their own hard hits, making them effective counters to Tapu Lele.

**Faster Pokemon Physical Breakers There are faster special attackers that threaten it too**: Tapu Lele's mediocre physical defensive stats, especially physically As your point about its bad physical bulk in particular is good and only average speed Quite important to how easy it is to revenge kill leave it open to being revenge killed quite easily by common attackers. Kartana, Zeraora, Dragapult To fit the new title and Rillaboom all pressure Choice Specs variants Scarf not a normal set now it with their speed or priority and terrain changing ability in Rillabooms case, while Choice Scarf Kartana, Rillaboom, and Choice Scarf Zapdos-G can revenge kill Choice Scarf variants of Tapu Lele as well. As Scarf is now in OO this isn't necessary.

Banned deucer.
  • Calm Mind Tapu Lele is a dangerous sweeper and late game cleaner, able to muscle past many checks mention like 2 or 3 examples as it boosts its special attack with freedom of move choice. rather say it boosts its effectiveness by the freedom of switching up moves, which makes it able to be an effective lategame cleaner.
  • Pokemon like Corviknight and Slowking can no longer consistently pivot in as they can be used as set up fodder and broken through with boosted Focus Blast and Moonblast respectively.
  • Standard dual STAB coverage to hit many common walls like Mandibuzz and Blissey with Moonblast and Psyshock respectively, and Focus Blast is used to take out any dangerous Steel-types like Ferrothorn and Heatran which otherwise wall Tapu Lele. I would just mention here the targets, which getting hit harder by Psyshock, but it isnt only Blissey, which has to fear a boosted Psyshock, there other targets as well, think about galarian slowking and heatran. just keep it to psyshock hitting bliss and glowking and focus blast the steels. make it simple and concise.
  • Leftovers gives Tapu Lele longevity, letting it set up against slower teams that rely on chipping it down with Pokemon such as Slowking or Hippowdon.
  • 8 defense evs is minimal investment but allows Tapu Lele to live a Choice Scarf Kartana Leaf Blade, a potentially very beneficial hit to take. The rest remaining EVs are invested dumped into max Speed and Special Attack to make it a decently fast, strong set up Pokemon.

  • Sticky Web support from Pokemon like Shuckle can also give Tapu Lele a good boost, making up for its average speed and preventing Pokemon like Dragapult and Kartana from revenge killing it as it sets up to break. remove webs mentions, as webs itself is not great in the current meta at all. say it fits rather on bulky offensive archetypes with bulky pivots, as lele appreciates getting brought in by them.
  • Heatran especially with Heavy Slam can help overwhelm Slowking and Galarian Slowking which pivot into Tapu Lele quite freely, while also pressuring Steel-types that can take on Tapu Lele's coverage such as Aegislash and Jirachi, forming a powerful special attacking core.
  • make a point about how lele can profit from offensive partners like dragapult, tornt, as they can force damage on steel-types like melmetal, heatran, ferro, which tapu lele appreciates in the lategame.
  • Offensive Grass-type Pokemon in Kartana and Rillaboom pose a massive threat to Tapu Lele, being able to OHKO it when holding a Choice Band. mention revengekillers in general and which pokemon can cover them for lele; landorus can cover zeraora, corviknight can cover rilla/kart, mandibuzz can cover pult
  • On more balance teams this makes Pokemon like Corviknight and Mandibuzz who can deal with those Pokemon excellent partners, as they can also pivot with U-turn to give Tapu Lele breaking opportunities.
  • Other bulky pivots like Blissey and Swampert you can mention landorus-t as a partner on bulky builds aswell who can take on fast revenge killers like Dragapult and Zeraora respectively also provide Tapu Lele with good ways to gain momentum and prevent faster Pokemon from taking it out and applying too much pressure.
order it into offensive and then defensive partners, which tapu lele likes to have on its team.

Psyshock lets it easily break through Blissey and Slowking-G which otherwise walls it, while Thunderbolt lets it 2HKO both specially defensive Corviknight and Slowking, something no other commonly used move accomplishes. Im pretty sure Focus Blast is a 2hko on corv after rocks so you can word it like "something no other commonly used move can easily accomplish"

  • Defensive pivots greatly help Tapu Lele in being able to switch in safely and start breaking, so Landorus-T, Slowbro and Slowking, Blissey, and Corviknight all fill that role well as partners. Definitely mention that Lando-T and Blissey can set rocks which is highly appreciated
Tapu Lele can force damage onto Steel-types with even resisted attacks, making Pokemon that can struggle against them like Volcarona and Tornadus-T especially enjoy its presence. Tornadus-T can run superpower, focus blast or heat wave (especially offensive sets) so maybe you can leave it to Volcarona

[SET COMMENTS]

  • Calm Mind Tapu Lele is a dangerous sweeper and late game cleaner, able to muscle past many checks such as Slowking which can't deal much damage back.
  • It boosts its effectiveness as a cleaner with additional power and a freedom of move choice.
  • Pokemon like Corviknight and Slowking can no longer consistently pivot in as they can be used as set up fodder and broken through with boosted Focus Blast and Moonblast respectively.
  • Standard dual STAB coverage to hit many common walls like Blissey and Galarian Slowking with boosted Psyshock, and Focus Blast is used to take out any dangerous Steel-types like Ferrothorn and Heatran which otherwise wall Tapu Lele.
The remaining EVs are invested into max Speed and Special Attack to make it a decently fast, strong set up Pokemon. Im not sure if this is worth mentioning since Scarf kart is kinda weird and most of the times when it switches Lele will be chipped down (to not mention the fact that this set runs Smart Strike which is super effective)

  • Fast offensive Pokemon who can apply early pressure on Steel-types and pivot such as Dragapult and Tornadus-T are greatly appreciated, chipping down mutual checks like Ferrothorn and Heatran making it much easier for Tapu Lele to clean late game.
  • Heatran especially with Heavy Slam can help overwhelm Slowking and Galarian Slowking which pivot into Tapu Lele quite freely Ok, i may be a bit lost but how can Heavy Slam deal with Slowking? Even if trapped with Magma Storm it can just Teleport out, and Heavy Slams means not having Taunt or Toxic/Rocks which heavily affects Heatran. Glowking is fine ig, while also pressuring Steel-types that can take on Tapu Lele's coverage such as Aegislash and Jirachi, forming a powerful special attacking core. You can leave this to Aegislash since Jirachi is... weird
  • Tapu Lele's average Speed and physical defense with weaknesses to common attacking types leaves it susceptible to many revenge killers such as Choice Band Kartana and Rillaboom, Dragapult, and Zeraora.
  • On more balance teams this makes Pokemon like Landorus-T, Corviknight, and Mandibuzz who can deal with those Pokemon excellent partners, as they can also pivot with U-turn to give Tapu Lele breaking opportunities.
  • Other bulky pivots like Blissey and Swampert who can take on fast revenge killers like Dragapult and Zeraora respectively also provide Tapu Lele with good ways to gain momentum and prevent faster Pokemon from taking it out and applying too much pressure.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
====

  • Tapu Lele can use a Choice Scarf set instead of Choice Specs, making up for its average Speed allowing it to function as a strong revenge killer. This can be unideal at times, however, as the major drop in power leaves it even more susceptible to Pokemon like Corviknight, Slowking, and Galarian Slowking once it is locked into a move.
  • An Assault Vest takes advantage of Tapu Lele's decent Special Defense to improve its matchup against special attackers like Kyurem and Hydreigon. However, Tapu Lele can still easily be pressured by many other offensive Pokemon due to its mediocre physical bulk.

Checks and Counters
====

Pokemon such as Heatran, Ferrothorn, and Melmetal can switch into STAB moves with ease while also surviving one Focus Blast, while specially defensive Corviknight only falters to Thunderbolt. Specially defensive Scizor, Jirachi, and Aegislash Scizor mention is kinda weird as it is because, even though it runs Knock Off, Bullet Punch is blocked by Psychic Terrain so it may be worth something adding that it cannot switch in directly since Focus Blast 3hkoes (So it takes one, takes another one (which is a roll to 2hko btw), knocks specs and as lele outspeeds gets koed by the third one) also aren't 2HKO'd 252 SpA Choice Specs Tapu Lele Focus Blast vs. 248 HP / 252+ SpD Scizor: 163-192 (47.5 - 55.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery by any common attack while threatening back with their own hard hits, making them effective counters You can word this like "Checks or counters" because of what i showed before + Aegis not having recovery, meaning it cant take repeatid hits to Tapu Lele.

**Faster Pokemon**: Tapu Lele's mediocre defensive stats, especially physically, and average Speed leave it open to being revenge killed quite easily by common attackers. Kartana, Zeraora, Dragapult, and Rillaboom all pressure it with their speed, or priority and terrain changing ability in Rillabooms case.

[Overview]
  • Tapu Lele is one of the strongest special attacking wallbreakers in the metagame.
  • Its high base Special Attack and decent Speed stat combined with Psychic Terrain and good coverage options let it take succeed as a wallbreaker or cleaner. I think this can be condensed with the point above because as it is its just like "Why is it a strong special wallbreaker?" agreed, you restate yourself in 2nd sentence
  • It takes advantage of slow bulky teams by switching in whenever possible and breaking with its hard hitting attacks to tear apart common defensive cores built of Pokemon such as Clefable, Toxapex, and Zapdos.
  • Tapu Lele is the only viable setter of Psychic Terrain, letting it support teammates like Volcarona by powering up their Psychic-type attacks as well as shielding them from priority moves. this whole point is unnecessary for overview imo, you're always using lele for its wallbreaking ability. although terrain can be situationally useful as an afterthought on psychic terrain-based ho, its support for lele's teammates isn't really relevant enough for the overview. if you want, you can mention how it powers up its own psychic moves to insane levels while forcing rilla and other slower prio users out on switchin. You can mention how it can enable Hawlucha with Psychic Seed if you dont need Koko/Rilla koko and rilla are good lucha partners primarily because of the offensive support they provide it with. while koko gives it screens and a free pivot in with u-turn, rilla can lure in and weaken birds like mandi zapdos corv that would otherwise really annoy lucha. lele doesn't really do either of these things well and is a somewhat suboptimal partner with lucha, compared to koko and rilla, for this reason, so i would leave this out alongside the rest of the point
  • It's low physical bulk and average Speed are some of the biggest factors that hold it back, but Tapu Lele can still circumvent these fairly well by playing into how great its strengths are. this is really vague, elaborate on what these specific strengths are and how it can circumvent the flaws you mention
  • mention how it struggles to make progress vs steels like melm, ferro, tran - this leads well into your point below that choice specs can often make it hard to use when predicting w it (which you should add, in addition to choice lock abuse as you've already mentioned)
  • Tapu Lele also usually relies on Choice items, which can make it exploitable by Pokemon that can take some of its attacks with ease like Tyranitar, Slowking and Heatran.

  • mention benefits and drawbacks of modest

  • giving a common archetype for the mon (usually bo or offense for lele) can help the reader understand its role better and what its ideal teammates can do for it
  • Defensive pivots greatly help Tapu Lele in being able to switch in safely and start breaking, so Landorus-T, Slowbro and Slowking, Blissey, and Corviknight all fill that role well as partners. Definitely mention that Lando-T and Blissey can set rocks which is highly appreciated although lele appreciates the chip on steels switching in, this isn't rly super necessary in the context of the analysis as all mons appreciate rocks and lele isn't very different
  • Choice Specs Tapu Lele needs defensive teammates to take hits from many faster Pokemon as well such as Dragapult, Tornadus-T, Tapu Koko, Kartana, and others, so bulky defensive cores of Pokemon like Blissey, Corviknight, and Toxapex can provide it with defensive support covering for its main flaw. u can combine this w ur last sentence (defensive backbone that preserves momentum)

Tornadus-T can run superpower, focus blast or heat wave (especially offensive sets) so maybe you can leave it to Volcarona no, keep torn, it can still be annoyed by corv/heatran/melm and lele helps prevent that by chipping them. another great mention here is weavile, which can help cripple steels with knock for lele to clean easily lategame - mention that ice shard is blocked by terrain tho

  • It's Its low physical bulk and average Speed are some of the biggest factors that hold it back as well as its struggle to force progress against cores with pivots, most notably Slowking and Corviknight, and multiple Steel-types like Ferrothorn and Heatran, but Tapu Lele can still circumvent these fairly well with aggressive play through double switches and predictions, and with team support from wallbreaking partners. by playing into how great its offensive presence is. cores w multiple steels arent too common. i elaborated on this last part because it still felt vague and didn't actually outline methods of playing well w lele
  • Tapu Lele also usually relies on Choice items, which can make it exploitable by Pokemon that can take some of its attacks with ease like Tyranitar, Slowking and Heatran. dont forget to mention how prediction reliance on specs sets can suck sometimes

  • Choice Specs Tapu Lele is one of the most threatening breakers in the tier, being able to 2HKO almost every Pokemon in OU with the right coverage due to its incredibly powerful Psychic-type STAB in terrain and its good coverage options to hit resists to its STAB attacks. this flowed weirdly, so i just removed it. you mentioned coverage, then mentioned stab in terrain, then mentioned coverage again
  • Focus Blast is crucial for hitting Steel-types that which resist both STAB moves like Heatran, Ferrothorn, and Excadrill.
  • Psychic and Thunderbolt are interchangeable, both allowing Tapu Lele to pressure different checks. Psychic gives Tapu Lele its hardest hitting attack to have a strong midground option on many Pokemon, while Thunderbolt lets it 2HKO both specially defensive Corviknight and Slowking, something no other commonly used move accomplishes.
  • if u want to mention psychic surge benefitting teammates, this is probably the place to do it. not a super relevant point imo but u can add it if u want with a focus on volc specifically, which is one of the biggest abusers. would be something like "in addition to powering up lele's own psychic moves, it can also benefit its teammates by boosting their psychic moves and blocking priority. volcarona especially is a good partner because..."
  • Modest Nature nature gives Tapu Lele a massive power boost, letting it have a chance to OHKO even Heatran with Focus Blast. Timid Nature nature alternatively trades some power in for Speed, letting it outrun Pokemon like Landorus-T and Excadrill which can naturally threaten it if they're faster. timid nidoking prob also a good mention here

  • Tapu Lele typically fits on more bulky offense or offensive teams that are looking for a strong breaker to compliment their pivots.
  • Defensive pivots greatly help Tapu Lele in being able to switch in safely and start breaking, so Landorus-T, Slowbro and Slowking, Blissey, and Corviknight all fill that role well as partners. It also can't take hits from faster threats like Dragapult and Choice Band Kartana, making partners that can switch into those and pivot out like Toxapex and Corviknight very helpful.

Tapu Lele can force damage onto Steel-types with even resisted attacks, making Pokemon that can struggle against them like Volcarona and Tornadus-T especially enjoy its presence.
  • Weavile baits in most Steel-types and can Knock Off to remove their item and longevity, making Tapu Lele's job much easier.
  • Magnezone trapping Steel-types is also appreciated as a partner, making Tapu Lele not have to predict Pokemon like Ferrothorn and Corviknight coming in and instead they can be easily removed from the game. reword this to something like "removing the most common psychic resistances and making lele less prediction reliant"

[Overview]

Tapu Lele is an incredibly powerful wallbreaker thanks to the combination of its solid offensive stats and access to Psychic Surge, dominating bulkier teams and being very difficult to switch into. Its good coverage and access to boosting options further boost ithis power to wallbreaker prowess. It takes advantage of slow, bulky teams by switching in whenever possible and wallbreaking common defensive cores built of Pokemon such as Clefable, Toxapex, and Zapdos. It has difficultyies to force progress against cores with pivots, most notably Slowking and Corviknight. Steel-types like Ferrothorn and Heatran trouble it, but these can be circumvented by chipping down Steel-types and hitting hard with its strong but unreliable coverage likein Focus Blast. Low physical bulk and an average Speed tier holds it back as well, but its power can make up for these shortcomings in most cases as a wallbreaker. Tapu Lele also usually relies on Choice items, which can make it exploitable by Pokemon, that can take some of its attacks with ease like Tyranitar, Slowking, and Heatran, while also being heavily prediction reliant for wallbreaking.

Defensive pivots such as Landorus-T, Rotom-W, and Corviknight provide Tapu Lele with opportunities to wallbreak with a free switchin. Calm Mind Tapu Lele is a dangerous sweeper and late game cleaner, able to muscle past many checks that otherwise rely on gradual damage and pivoting to check other Choice-locked variants of Tapu Lele, such as Slowking and Corviknight. It boosts its effectiveness as a cleaner with additional power viadue to Calm Mind and a freedom of move choice without abeing Choice-locked. Psyshock targets many common walls like Blissey and Galarian Slowking with weaker Defense than Special Defense, while Psychic can be used to hit late-game physically defensive Landorus-T or Toxapex harder. Thunderbolt can easily break through other common checks, after boosts with Calm Mind boosts, such as Slowking and Corviknight. Focus Blast is used to take out any dangerous Steel-types like Ferrothorn and Heatran, which otherwise wall Tapu Lele. Leftovers gives Tapu Lele longevity, letting it set-up against slower teams that rely on chipping it down with Pokemon such as Slowking or Hippowdon. 8 Defense EVs is minimal investment, but allows Tapu Lele to live a Leaf Blade from Choice Scarf Kartana Leaf Blade.

Fast offensive Pokemon, whoich can apply early pressure on Steel-types and pivots such as Dragapult and Weavile are greatly appreciated, chipping down mutual checks like Ferrothorn and Heatran making it much easier for Tapu Lele to clean late-game. Magnezone traps Ferrothorn, which allows Tapu Lele to more reliably use Thunderbolt, letting it break Slowking easier without worrying about having no coverage for Ferrothorn. Kartana and Dragonite put heavily pressure on Corviknight and threaten out Heatran ands well as Choice Band Rillaboom, breaking through common defensive cores, which Tapu Lele appreciates for wallbreaking. Tapu Lele's average Speed tier and pPhysical dDefense with weaknesses to common attacking types leaves it susceptible to many revengekillers such as Kartana, Rillaboom, Dragapult, and Zeraora. Calm Mind sets can win the 1v1one-on-one, but can be forced out easily if Slowking Teleport's into a revengekiller.

Tapu Lele also usually relies on Choice items, which can make it exploitable by Pokemon that can take some of its attacks with ease like Tyranitar, Slowking, and Heatran while also being heavily prediction reliant for wallbreaking. Focus Blast is crucial for hitting Steel-types that resist both Tapu Lele's STAB moves like Heatran, Ferrothorn, and Excadrill mention scizor over excadrill; more relevant example and it still 2hkos. Also mention how there's not many important speed tiers it needs to hit with Timid which makes Modest the better option. Alternatively, a Timid nature trades some power for Speed, letting it outrun Pokemon like Landorus-T, Timid Nidoking, and Excadrill, which can naturally threaten it. Both nidoking and excadrill aren't great examples rn, I'd rather mention creeping opposing lele and Specs kyurem instead.

(AP) Clefable and Corviknight can also provide cleric and pivoting options, respectively. Other strong wallbreakers such as Dragapult, Urshifu-R, and Blaziken can help with pressuring Pokemon like Slowking, Blissey, and Heatran, giving Tapu Lele an easier time wallbreaking. Ok so this but is p outdated, since blaziken isn't great, atleast outside of HO, and neither is Slowking. You can update this to smth like Garchomp, Weavile that pressure Corviknight, or Dragapult to pressure Heatran. Tapu Lele can bait and force damage onto Steel-types, making Pokemon that can struggle against them like Tornadus-T especially enjoy its presence. Ok torn doesn't rlly struggle against steels since a it carries Heat Wave and the only steel which heat wave doesn't hit (heatran) gets Knocked off just like the rest of them. Weavile baits in most Steel-types and can use Knock Off to remove their items and longevity, making Tapu Lele's job much easier. Magnezone trapping Steel-types is also appreciated making Tapu Lele less prediction reliant. I'd personally also mention a heatran switch in since it does let it in pretty often. And also Volcarona since Lele can bait Heatran / force damage onto it.

Corviknight and threaten out Heatran as well as Choice Band Rillaboom, breaking through common defensive cores, which Tapu Lele appreciates for wallbreaking. Tapu Lele's average Speed tier and Defense with weaknesses to common attacking types leave it susceptible to many revenge killers such as Kartana, Rillaboom, Dragapult, and Zeraora. On balance teams, this makes Pokemon like Landorus-T, Corviknight, and Blissey that can each deal with some of those Pokemon excellent partners, as they can also pivot with U-turn or Teleport to give Tapu Lele opportunities for wallbreaking while preventing it from being fodder for wallbreakers to come in on and getting a KO.

Tapu Lele can use Choice Scarf instead of Choice Specs, making up for its average Speed tier and allowing it to function as a strong revenge killer. However, because the major drop in power leaves it even more susceptible to Pokemon like Corviknight, Slowking, and Galarian Slowking once it is locked into a move, Choice Scarf Tapu Lele loses most of its wallbreaking ability against bulkier teams.

====

**Slowking**: Slowking is one of the best natural checks to Tapu Lele, as it can avoid a 2HKO from all attacks barring Thunderbolt, and it can easily pivot with Regenerator to scout a hit and either beat Tapu Lele outright or get in a check depending on the move being used. Calm Mind sets can win one-on-one but can be forced out easily if Slowking uses Teleport into a revenge killer.
