First of all, while making this team the goal was to incorporate many pokemon with abilities that let them absorb certain attacks, yet still be competitively viable. No pokemon is used that does not have at least one immunity and it is surprising to see the chemistry in this team.
Gliscor@leftovers
sand veil, jolly
252 HP/40 DEF/216 SPEED
taunt
roost
earthquake
u-turn
My new lead gliscor happens to fit in quite well with the team. It can threaten many common leads such as ape and azelf with earthquake and u-turn respectively. If i am faster i can taunt to keep sr off the field. This guy will come in mid game as well as a physical check or wall breaker able to roost off any damage. Although it doesnt have great coverage, this gliscor is meant to hurt things with eq, u-turn from anything it cannot handle to an appropriate counter and down common walls that plan to sit on me all day. The durability this guy has is impressive and it usually doesnt get KO'd before causing frustration to my opponent.
Poliwrath@leftovers
Water absorb, adamant
252 HP/252 ATK/4 SPDEF
Bulk up
waterfall
focus punch
substitute
He is my number 1 fav poke of all time and have to incorporate him on every team I create. This guy is great. He comes in on any water type attack or one of his 5 useful resists and if i expect a switch i sub. I then proceed to focus punch if i dont think i can set up yet or waterfall if focus punch is resisted. These two attack types provide awesome coverage and with 1 bulk up boost scizors bullet punch has no chance in hell of breaking a sub. He is surprisingly bulky (90, 95, 90 is nothing to scoff at) and can hit quite hard after a bulk up, which is mainly there for the attack raise. He really keeps ttar, scizor, Lucario and metagross in check, 4 huge threats in todays metagame.
Jolteon@life orb
volt absorb, modest
252 sp attck/252 speed/4 hp
substitute
t-wave
thunderbolt
shadowball
Having these two waters and a flying type it was obvious i needed a pokemon for electric type attacks. This came in the form of jolteon. I've always been amazed at the strength of stab life orbed t-bolt from the little rodent and shadow ball provides a way to nail psychics and ghosts such as latias and dusknoir. I'll sub on the switch and if i cant handle it ill t-wave to help get everything slower for my poliwrath sweep. He is a definite menace, very speedy, and mainly used as a revenge killer/check for opposing gyara and latias trying to set-up.
Gengar@life orb
levitate, timid
252 ATTCK/ 252 SPEED/ 4 HP
substitute
pain split
shadow ball
focus blast
Pain split gengar FTW! This gengar wreaks havoc from behind a sub with its shadow ball and focus blast providing perfectly neutral coverage. Pain split allows it to recover off LO damage and actually beat blissey. This guy is a great check for opposing non-timid gengar and latias and wreaks havoc against bulky pokes with pain split, often times taking them to KO range. Due to this guy being able to destroy many common special walls (namely Blisssey) he has become invaluable to this team of many special attackers. He comes in on one of its many immunities, sets up sub and starts its rampage.
Skarmory@leftovers
keen eye, impish
252 def/ 252 hp/4 sp d
stealth rock
spikes
roost
roar
Next i needed a bulky wall and why not skarm? He can phaze, set up sr and spikes, provide a reliable check against anything with an sd (bar lucario), and can roost off any damage it acquires in the process. He usually comes in early-mid game to set up sr and hopefully 1 layer of spikes to allow an easier time for my late game sweepers while also drawing in the electric/fire attacks my team craves. I chose not to put any attacks on it because while i did have drill peck present for a while, it really served no purpose. My team relies so heavily on claiming OHKO/2HKOs through boosted attacks that drill peck didnt really fit in with this fast pace and i needed spikes more. This guy is a hero for me, almost absorbing physical hits and able to give my sweepers the desired support through entry hazards, all the time drawing in electric and fire attacks.
Heatran@leftovers
Flash fire, modest
252 sp attack/252 speed/ 4 hp
substitute
toxic
fire blast
earthpower
What kind of team would this be without the most common absorber in OU? This tran often comes in after something has been ko'd to bluff the scarf and sub, or simply on a predicted w-o-w or fire attack expected to crippple one of my sweeprs. Flash fire boosted fire blast is extremely lethal, especially behind the security of a substitute. If something like suicune or another bulky poke comes in i simply toxic and proceed from there. This guy is a great check to opposing fire, and steel types and wreaks havoc with its fire blast. The durablilty it has is surprising due to its many resistances and 2 immunities and usually takes 1 or 2 pokes down with it easily allowing gyara, poliwrath and e-vire to run show.
This team has a 27-5 shoddy record and when played correctly is very lethal as everything seems to compliment eachother. I had a lot of fun making it and has moved up to being the primary team i use when being challenged. It is surprising at how easy a team-building process can be when you just take it step by step and cover ur pokes backs with others.
Any and all help is appreciated as i know there is huge room for improvment here but please respect the overall team idea of absorbtion. Thank you for ur time.
P.S. if u tell me how to get pics of pokes on here ill be happy to edit this rmt with them thnx :D
