Teambuilding

Before building this team, I decided a team around the combination of Gyarados and Mamoswine. I heared that they work great together in a Metagame with a lot of ScarfRotoms, so I wanted to them together.
My first decicion was to use Hazards. Stealth Rocks are a must have in a team around DDGyarados, cause it brings him a lot of kills, wich are impossible without them. The second thing is, that some Gyaradoschecks have a weakness to Stealthrocks (Zapdos, RestalkGyara) and get weakend enormous if they have to switch in twice.
Second thing was using Spikes. Spikes are unbelievable effective in the current Metagame, because of the huge number of Heatrans and Tyranitars. Both have some really great ressistences, and can switch in a huge mass of things. With three layers set upped they have huge Problems to do their Jobs, cause they get 25% every switchin. On top of that they lack of a recover move, and are not really fast, and can be finished easily at low HP by an other Pokemon. With Spikes and Stealthrocks up I am sure, I won't have Problems with these two enormous dangerous threads.
For setting up Spikes I chose Forretress in Lead possition. He is a great lead because of his Spinning and Spiking ability and his great Stats.

After these I needed a good Spinnblock.
For this Job there are not much possibilies. At the one hand there is Gengarguy, with his great speed, but his low defensive Stats, on the other hand is Rotom-W, which is much more usefull cause of his Trickingability and his better Coveredge. Also he has much better Stats, and is a great Revenger of Gyarados, Infernape, Kingdra.
Because of all that i chose Rotom-W with a choicescarf which works really good.

I need stealthrocks...
This was what I noticed at this point. I didn't want to use them on Forretress, cause I wanted to use Gyroball and Explosion on him, so I needed another setup Pokemon. Because I had Problems with Rotom and Shaymin I took Heatran.

Ok, there was one slot left over. I took a look on the team and notice a huge Problem with Watertanks. They easily make me lose 0:6, so I decided to add Shaymin. I had seen Shaymin with a LO a few days ago, and it worked great, so I took it.

I started the testing. Mamoswine just ähhh sucks. He isn't usefull at alle because of these Vaporeons and Rotoms. So I decided to put anotzer thing over him. Also I wanted to trie something over Heatran, because It was too slow in my eyes. I took Infernape > Tran and MixedFlygon > Mamoswine

I wasn't content with this change, so I chose Scarfttar > Flygon and used Heatran again...

Finaly the changes worked...
Only Probem were Bulky Pokemon. Because of my 2 scarfers they could set up easily, and made me big Problems. So I used another Ttar set. Just look at the Closer Look

Closer Look

alestormblacksails.jpg

Heavy Metal Pirates (Forretress) (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP/4 Def/252 SDef
Sassy nature (+SDef, -Spd)
- Spikes
- Rapid Spin
- Gyro Ball
- Explosion
I use Spikes and Rapid Spinn like it is used on every Forrylead. But after this my set changes a bit. Usually there is the choose between Gyroball and Payback. In this case I cose Gyroball to check Ttar better, and because I have Ttar and Heatran against Rotom. Gyoroball does also enough damage on Gengar, to get an 2HKO after SR.
My last choice was Explosion. Boom is very Usefull, but I can also think of Payback on this Slot, because I cannot use Explosion every time.

Forretress is imo the best Spikelead, who exists. It's unbelivable effective, and can set up in so much things. It also can Spin the opponents Stealthrocks and Spikes away easily for Gyarados and my other members.
In leadgame the SpecialDefense isn't so important, because I have to switch out of Heatran and Infernape always, but in the latergame the SDef is really usefull. Thunderbolt of a scarfrotom does 30-35%, and I can even beat Gengar if he isn't at full HP.
In Leadgame Forretress is npt the best Pokemon. The most often seen lead is Heatran, against which I have to switch out. Most of the times I go to Gyarados to check the opponents Gyaradoscheck at the beginning, but i can also set up Ttar and fake a Choice Scarf.
Against Azelfleads I go to Heatran, which wins always and can setup Stealthrocks in the switch. Because the opponent often brings Watertanks I can find out at the start of the game, which defensve Waters my opponent is using, to plan the later game with Gyarados.

200px-Alestorm_Captain_Morgans_Revenge.jpg

Pirate Song (Heatran) (M) @ Shuca Berry
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 4 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Stealth Rock
- Fire Blast
- Earth Power
- Explosion
Shuca Tran is really great for setting up Stealthrocks. He can setup in Rotom, or defensive Plants, and also in a lot of Choicers like Ttar and Scizor.
Heatran is the Firepart in my FWG core, and brings me some great ressistences, like Dragon and Steel. Heatran is also a good partner to Gyarados, because he can weaken the Watertanks with Boom, and help Gyara to beat them.
Heatran is an important part in this Team. Without him I have big Problems against very many things....

alestorm_180.jpg

Keelhaulded (Tyranitar) (M) @ Expert Belt
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 208 Atk/240 Spd/60 SAtk
Hasty nature (+Spd, -Def)
- Stone Edge
- Pursuit
- Superpower
- Flamethrower
Well this Set looks a bit strange. When I used Scarfttar I had big Porblems with Forrtetress and Skarmory. This Ttar Set helps me to get rid of them.
Stone Edge is my answer to Zapdos, which can be a real beast with Thunderbolt and Heatwave. It is also good against Dragonite, which makes some trubbles to the team.
Instead of using Crunch, I chose Pursuit. It's more usefull on this Set, because everyone thinks of a Crunchttar. Pursiut is also better against Scarfrotom, and only loses against defensiveRotom, which I beat with Heatran (Will o Wisp switch...).
The last two Slots are filled with Superpower against Heatran and other Ttars. I use it also in many predicts, because the come both often in a scarfttar, btw I can predict with this Set really good, because I often don't loose a turn with false Prediction.
Flamethrower is my answer on Forretress and Skarmory, which are the most switch ins in defensive teams.
The EV spread is created to be faster than Skarmory, and to 2HKO it after SR (with Lefties only 96%, but wayne).

Ttar brings some important ressistences to my team, and is very usefull.

Alestorm_Leviathan_200.jpg

Leviathan (Rotom-w) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Thunderbolt
- Shadow Ball
- Hydro Pump
- Trick
Like I said Rotom is my Spinblock...
With Choice Scarf he is my Revenger and he is very usefull. It's also my only Gyaracheck, so I have to be carefull.
I can't say more, because Rotom is so often used, and everybody knows it's role...

alestorm_heavymetalpirates.jpg

Over the Seas (Gyarados) (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk/4 Def/252 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Taunt
- Waterfall
- Dragon Dance
- Stone Edge
I play Gyarados with Taunt, because it's sooo usefull. I won many battles, because Skarmory and Vaporeon can't roar ore whirl me away. With this I can often get 2 DDs, because I can trick the defensive guys with Taunt.
On my last slot I took Stone Edge to beat other Gyarados and Zapdos.
My Item is to lose no HP because of Sandstorm.

In Teamplay Gyara is my Waterpokemon in the FWG core. It's my Heatrancounter and is also great against Scizor and other choicers...

alestorm-black-sails-at-midnight-2009-limited-edition.jpg

Death before the Mast (Shaymin) @ Life Orb
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 Spd/252 SAtk/4 SDef
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Rest
- Seed Flare
- Earth Power
- Hidden Power [Fire]
Shaymin uses a LO to get a huge SAtk Stat. It can get very much kills, because of LO and Spikes. HP Fire isn't clear, because Ice would be good also. Pls some help with this question.
Rest is my important Revovery, because I loose 16% each round. Maybe Leftovers would be better...

Yes, pls rate. I need some rates to make this team work better...

ENglish is not my language, so pls understand all mistakes you find lol...

Hello, this seems like an effective DD Gyarados team. I do, however, have some suggestions that I think could improve this team's effectiveness.

Choice Band Tyranitar is a huge threat to your team currently. You have nothing that can switch into Stone Edge without being 2HKO'd (even Forretress will die to two consecutive SEs), and the only things that can really hit it hard are Gyarados and Shaymin, neither of who can really switch in to Tar safely. I think you'd benefit from utilizing a SubSeed Breloom over Shaymin, as it gives you one of the best Tyranitar counters in the game, turning it from a threat that can blow through your team if played correctly into mere setup fodder. The set is:

Breloom(RS)Sprite.png

Breloom (M) @ Toxic Orb
Trait: Poison Heal
EVs: 236 HP / 20 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Spore
- Substitute
- Leech Seed
- Focus Punch

With this change implemented, your team looks solid. I would do also do two more things. The first is make Rotom max HP instead of SAtk - with multiple layers of entry hazards, you don't really need the power, and max HP gives Rotom alot of bulk, being able to spinblock against even LO Starmie and its powerful Hydro Pump. The other thing I'd do is replace Gyro Ball with Payback on Forretress. G-Ball is really only useful for Weavile and Tyranitar. Gyarados and Heatran cover Weavile while Breloom beats Tyranitar, and Payback helps whittle down Rotom-A switchins so you can get a successful Rapid Spin off.

Hope I helped, good luck

Aww man BKC beat me to the Ttar weakness...
Anyway, solid team, well presented.
First a few nitpicks:
-Don't use Explosion on Forry, he's really not the kind of pokemon that should be blowing up.
-Toxic Spikes could be an asset to this team by weakening opposing bulky waters.

I don't really see a huge weakness to this team, possibly offensive Suicune could cause some problems, but if you use toxic pikes, it has no chance.

Hope this helps at least a little, Good Luck!

Thx BlissyofDoom,
I'll trie toxic spikes, but i thought to spikes t first because this team causes switches. Toxic Spikes and Spikes, will be difficult, but I'll trie

pls some mor rates

really great team and i love the rest shaymin maybe you shuld also try sleeptalk.rest.seedflare.epower. item left over 252speed 252sp.atk 4hp

Wow, very nice team first off.
Considering your team, Fort, Ttar, and Heatran are great.
Even with rotom-w being all over the place, you should write a better description for it. Although, that is also a nice set.
Your Gyarados set should probably run this set:
-Dragon Dance
-Taunt
-Waterfall
-Stone Edge/Bounce
Although I see this is your set, your EV spread should be changed to:
156 HP , 72 Att , 96 Def , 184 Spe
Reasons being, this set is a much better wall, and with Adamant nature, leftovers, and DD, it still can be very effective! Please try that out, because I think it is the better move for this set.
Your Shaymin set is also good, because it takes advantage of his ability and his natural bulk. Although, this really is also lacking a bit of a description as well.

Otherwise, great job on this, and I hope that that Gyarados EV change will help!

To help out more against threats like Tyranitar or SubRoost Zapdos, you can try a more specially defensive EV spread on Heatran. This should help accumulate entry hazard damage, and it fits better on your bulky team.

Heatran (M) @ Shuca Berry
Trait: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SAtk / 252 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Stealth Rock
- Lava Plume
- Earth Power
- Roar

Lava Plume is great for burning physical switch-ins like Tyranitar / Gyarados. Roar is really useful for this team, since it can force switches to build up entry hazard damage and you don't have a phazer yet. This set is very effective on bulky offensive entry hazard teams because it covers a lot of specially-based threats and phazes opponents to weaken them. Leftovers is good too, but I left Shuca on because it helps out against opposing Shaymin.

Team seems very solid, I'd just test out some new moves on a few pokes to patch up a few weaknesses. Starmie is a big problem for your team; the only thing really stopping it is Rotom, who can't switch in. Bold Rotom can also be a problem because it beats you Ttar 1v1.

Try running payback on Forry, it can let you weaken Rotom, stopping it from stopping Gyara. It also hurts Starmie badly too. Also consider HP ice on Rotom because Dragonite can be a pain for this team.

Tweaking Tyranitar a bit can make it more effective; 164 Hp / 52 Atk / 200 SpA / 96 Spe Mild, expert belt, with a set of Superpower / Dark Pulse / Thunderbolt) / Fire Blast will do much better against stall teams with defensive Rotom. If Rotom burns you, you can still do around 85% with dark pulse. Fire blast takes care of Skarmory and Forry while you can either beat Gyarados with t-bolt. The EVs let you check Starmie at full health, OHKO Blissey, outspeed Skarmory, Scizor, ect.

Even though Forretress is OU, I have ever seen people using it, so having it on team alone really interests me.

Other then what people already pointed out, I don't see any fault in this team and it looks solid to me.

Thanks fpr all your rates :D
I'll test everything, and I'm going to do an update in the next days.
I'm playing Roserade > Shaymin in the moment. It works good, and is also better against Starmie than Shaymin.
