Team B(V1.5)

First off I would like to say that SR, Blissey, and Scizor are for pussies. Please do not suggest them. This team is a balanced team leaning towards offence. Meaning, I have two 'walls', but they function more like tanks in order to keep up the pace of the game to reflect my playing style.

I have done my 5-game trial run with this team, and won 4 of them. So it is working fairly well, but has room for improvement. Please help with this.
I have finished my 5-game trial run with V.15 now, having won 4/5, even though 2 of them pulled off RD teams and I lost a Jirachi to Scarftrio in one. I had worse luck, but the same outcome in these games, so I consider it improved. but there is always room for more.
5-Game trial w/ V2.0 done, getting worse, finding more Suicunes. 3/5. Changes are coming soon

Team Building:

169.png

This entire team was started because Crobat pretty much carried my last team. It was amazing as a lead, and functioned just as well mid-late game. I felt I needed to make a new team to ulitilize Crobat to his fullest potential, so here he is. The first member of my team

169.png
385.png

Next, I felt like trying out a 2-part lead. I've never tried this before, but heard it can be quite effective, so I started searching. Metagross was the most common being used, but I've used him too much, and needed a change. I needed someone who was fairly bulky, and resisted at least half of Crobat's weaknesses. After listening to 'My Wish' by Rascall Flatts, I settled on Jirachi, Who can pair up as U-Turn Buddy

169.png
385.png
149.png

Now I needed a Wall Breaker. Having made a Gen V Raindance/Sunnyday team wallbreaking Dragonite, I decided to modify it for Gen IV use. This Dragonite should theoretically be an absolute BEAST, as he looks as such on paper. However, this created a second rock weakness, and so I needed someone to cover it

169.png
385.png
149.png
260.png

Since rock moves are near limited to Stone Edge, and even more so physical, I felt this was the appropriate time to fit in my Physical Wall. I needed a change of pace from Skarmory, as I felt he hampered Crobat with his only attack already on the bat. I considered Hippowdon, but I hated Sand Stream, so it also ruled out TTar. Forretress was out of the question, since he is primarily used for spike-walling. And entry hazards are for pussies. I eventually decided on Swampert. He resists rock, is very bulky, can play an offensive wall, and his only weakness is resisted by everyone else so far, so I felt he fit the bill.

After getting my physical wall, I decided this would be the appropriate time to get my special wall. Once again, it has to be an offensive wall, and not a sitting duck. Blissey was out of the question. She is for pussies. Lanturn was long-considered, but with only one weakness to electricity and no healing move, I decided to look past him. I realized I needed someone to Wishpass, as Swampert cannot heal himself either, so i looked onto Vapoureon and Umbreon. I chose Umbreon simply because I like him more. And as Karen once said "Strong pokemon. Weak pokemon. That is only a misguided conception. Real trainers try to win with their favourites.", then proceeds to lead with an Umbreon.

As any other well-balanced team, I needed a late-game sweeper. I wanted it to use SpA, since most of my pokes will be primarily physical. I wanted a 1-turn setup sweeper with real potential. I looked into BL for awhile, mostly at Raikou, my 3rd fave Poke, but decided on (Agility) Lucario, my 5th. He had Steel as a defensive typing, great for the setup turn, and his Aura Sphere/Dark Pulse Combo crushes the metagame.

(V1.5) Umbreon was replaced by Tentacruel to increase the pace of the game. It also acts as a check for Swampert and other bulky waters, as well as providing Rapid Spin Support. He has been very useful for my team, though I feel as though I can still improve here. Any suggestions for a different replacement?

Tentacruel was cutting it either, and so didn't make the cut. I had a SLIGHT problem with boosters, especially Suicune. with most of them being Calm Mind boosters, I decided to rip them apart with their own game. This called for a Psych Up user, something unorthadox, but nonetheless very useful. Rotom-S also doubles as a Gyara check, better at it than Jirachi, too. But I lost my HP Grass :(

Third round changes are in easy-on-the-eyes GREY

"Nibbles"
Crobat@Leftovers
Jolly
252 Atk, 144 Spe, 104 Hp, 8 Def
-Brave Bird
-U-Turn
-Taunt
-Roost

Named Nibbles out of nostalgia for my Crystal Crobat
Lead/Mid-Late Game Attacker
This lead has always been faithful. It KOs half the leads out there, such as Smeargle, Machamp (who is by far THE most common lead), and Breloom. He prevents SR with Taunt, and can U-Turn out of almost anything else. Aerodactyl is the only lead that beats this, since it outspeeds and OHKOs it. this is where I switch to Jirachi or Swampert. Super Fang also lets him hurt walls midgame.
Max attack for hard hitting, 144 Speed to outspeed ScarfTar, 104 Hp hits a leftovers number, and the rest was thrown into defence
*Roost was put on this set because Super Fang really wasn't doing much

385.png

"MW"
Jirachi@Choice Scarf
Jolly
252 Atk, 252 Spe, 4 Hp
-U-Turn
-Iron Head
-Thunderpunch
-Trick

Named MW after 'My Wish'
Lead Pair/Revenge Killer/Wall Hamperer/Semi Sponge
This is close to a standard Jirachi, but with a few changes. The "OMG U NEeD FIRE PUNCH OR UR TEH N00Bz" was taken out, as Jirachi deals shit to the steels it is meant to cover anyways. Instead, i have U-turn, so I can switch into an ideal counter to the Steel type (Dragonite or 'Pert). Iron Head for hax, Tpunch is my way of saying FUCK YOU BULKY WATERS, and hits flying types hard. Ice punch was originally planned, but in todays metagame with 1/2 the dragons, Swampert can cover this. Trick is for Hampering walls.
The EV spread is standard, no need for explanation

149.png

"Chopsticks"
Dragonite@Life Orb
Rash
252 SpA, 184 Spe, 72 Atk
-Dragon Dance
-Fire Blast
-Dragon Pulse
-Superpower

Named due to tradition. All my Nites have the same name
WallBreaker/Midgame Sweeper/Kingdra Counter
THE wallbreaker. One DD allows for the outspeeding of + natured base 115s and an OHKO on Blissey. The other moves are for physical walls and bulky waters, respectively. Fire Blast OHKOs Skarmory and Forretress, and Tbolt is also to hit pesky Starmie not realizing I outspeed them. Dragonite also blocks Grass attacks aimed at 'Pert the best, allowing for a setup on the switch
Max SpA for hardest hitting, 184 Speed for 363 speed, the minimum to outspeed + natured 115s, and the rest was used to aid with Superpower
*Thunderbolt was replaced with Dragon Pulse to counter Kingdra. Running off max SpA, it OHKOs all versions of it, as well as providing reliable STAB

260.png

"Julius"
Swampert@Leftovers
Impish
252 Hp, 200 Def, 56 Atk
-EQ
-Avalanche
-Substitute
-Focus Punch

Named after Julius Caesar; they share the same badditude
Phys Tank/DragonSlayer/Subpuncher
Started out as a mixpert, but with no need for SR or roar I felt it needed modifying. Substitute eventually replaced Protect, since he has the magic 101 Hp subs. Then Focus Punch came to mind, and I figured it would be worth a shot. a purely physical tank has no need for SpD, so it went into Atk, along with a bit of Def. With upgraded attack, i decided to run Avalanche over Ice Beam, for more damage. Especially since Dragonite has higher SpD anyways, and him and Flygon will be the main receivers for this. This allowed me to run Impish. EQ is for STAB, and is standard.
252 Hp for 101 Hp Subs, 200 Def for walling purposes, and 76 Atk to do some actual damage

"Caeser II"
Rotom-S@Expert Belt
Timid
160 Hp, 64 SpD, 40 SpA, 244 Spe
-Psych Up
-Thunderbolt
-Air Slash
-HP Grass

Named to be the second part of my "Julius Caeser" walls, for a second time.
Spec Tank-ish/Swampert Counter/Bulky Water Killer/Gyara Counter/Fighting Check
Tentacruel would have been perfect had Suicune not been invented. So here I was, in need of a counter. Psych-up anything seemed like a plausable counter, and so I checked Serebii's Attackdex to see who could learn it, and modified one of Smogon's Rotom-S set for Psych-up use. The reason I am running a set with HP Grass is for suprise value. NO-ONE will see it coming, as they all expect i would use Rotom-C with Leaf Storm for a grass move. So why didn't I? because then it would be obvious, and I wouldnt get the kill I want.

"Goku"
Lucario@Life Orb
Rash
252 SpA, 192 Spe, 64 Atk
-Agility
-Aura Sphere
-Dark Pulse
-Close Combat

Named Goku because of Aura Sphere
Late Game Sweeper/Swampert killer
Lucario looks to me to be pretty awesome actually. With a base 115 SpA and Life Orb, he should have no problem sweeping a weakened team. Agility allows him to outspeed everything bar +natured scarf 100's, which are taken care of beforehand, as is Blissey, who completely walls this. I will try to keep him secret untill the end, but if a Swampert appears, he is my only means of taking him down.
252 SpA for max damage, the rest for bulkiness. Speed EVs are unnecessary with base 90 speed and Agility
*I chose to rearrange the defensive EVs for better defence, as Lucario's defences are weaker than his Hp, and must be addressed first. HP Grass was replaced with Vacuum Wave to allow for a better midgame, as Swampert is already countered with the new Tentacruel
*Psychic really didn't do anything, so I adopted Close Combat, as suggested, as well as the

"Lunar"
Umbreon@Leftovers
Careful
216 Hp, 216 SpD, 76 Atk
-Wish
-Tickle
-Pursuit
-Heal Bell

Named for Nostalgia purposes
Spec Wall/Pursuiter/Wishpasser/Cleric
Here is my fave Eeveelution, and 2nd fave poke. Wish and Heal Bell are for Team/Self Healing. Tickle is to cause a switch, more reliable than Yawn, as well as racking up more damage for Pursuit. I will pretty much use him as a healing wall that isn't a total sitting duck with the ability to lower the enemy's defense (and attack, helping him wall) and pursuiting.
216 Hp/SpD for a respectable 385 Hp/SpD, 76 Atk to power up Pursuit
Relpaced By: Tentacruel

"Caeser"
Tentacruel@Expert Belt
Calm
252 Hp, 136 SpD, 120 SpA
-Rapid Spin
-Surf
-HP Grass
-Knock Off

Named to be the second part of my "Julius Caeser" walls
Spec Tank/Swampert Counter/Rapid Spinner/Bulky Water Killer
If only Umbreon had 30 higher attack with its defences still in tact. Alas, this was not the case, and it needed to be replaced. I decided on Tentacruel, as it has can take a hit or two (remember, I don't need a dedicated wall) and dish some back out. I adopted the Toxic Spikes Spin set off this very site, but made some tweaks to make it suitable for this team. First off, it wont be taking many, if any physical attacks, as the (weakened) Swamperts it counters should be KOd (Giga Drain does 51.4% min and HP Grass does 60% to mixpert). Surf for STAB, Rapid spin to get rid of SR that may have been accumulated from an Aerodactyl lead, which I have found to ALWAYS use taunt or SR off the bat, letting Crobat U-Turn outta there. Bulky waters are also taken care of by this poke. Lastly, I am unsure of what support move to use. I refuse to use entry hazards, so do not suggest such things. And is it worth running Giga Drain over HP grass for the health replenishing? the damage difference is sorta huge. I would like help here before I test out Tentacruel

*HP Grass was considered to be better than Giga Drain, and Knock-Off over Magic Coat
Replaced by: Rotom-S

Now, please, rate away!

PS mods, sorry about having two posts on (technically) the same team, but I PMd with a complete update for it hours ago, and got no reply, not to tell me to improve it more or anything, and it is still locked. So, left out in the dust, but in desperate need of help, I posted again. If you wish to lock this thread, please, delete the other post instead

"Entry Hazards are for Pussies" isn't a great approach :) However, since you refuse to use them...
Your Dragonite set would be much better without DD. You might get some surprise KO's from faking a full DD set, but I doubt too many. It simply lacks the ability to hurt a lot of pokemon, not least of which are things like offensive Suicune and even Starmie. After just one CM or even a Sub which it can get on the switch, you literally can't hurt it. As it boosts, Lucario's damage becomes insignificant, Tentacruel might be your only hope with Magic Coat (although if it has HP Electric as many do now it can just get to +6) - even worse if it is the SubCM version. Starmie again can come in on half your team, and can OHKO or 2HKO everything. Many other pokemon are in the same boat.

I guess the problems come from the type combinations (although the sets are less than ideal in some cases). 2 Flying types, 2 steels, two waters. You just need some more diversity. Ditch Tentacruel since he loses a lot of his use if he doesn't have Toxic Spikes - Starmie basically does his job better without them, but that shouldn't be there either. Start there and look at the weaknesses. Celebi or Shaymin could work well, for instance, but a lot of other modifications would need to be made.

The sets themselves are somewhat questionable, but start with working out some nice synergy between the members and go from there.

Give Lucario Close Combat imo so it isn't walled by Blissey. Also change around its EVs to be more Offensive. Its stupid giving such a frail pokemon such massive defensive investment on a clearly offensive set.

Honestly, I don't like any of these sets at all. They look pretty terrible. Special DDNite?? Wtf is that? Go with standard MixNite or Standard DDNite. That set is trying to do too much and really defeats the purpose of having it. :/

I guess Swampert is fine, I would personally rather go with Ice Punch incase you come up against a Roar user, they won't go first, if you pick Avalance.

I would use Hidden Power [Electric] on Tentacruel so you can do something against Gyarados besides just sending in Jirachi.

Honestly, this team is just 6 pokemon trying to do too much at once and I really don't think you will find much success with it. You would probably be better going with 2 Walls/2 Offensive Pokemon/2 Support pokemon then just 6 wallishly-offensive-supporting pokemon.

well the above posters pretty much summed up what was in my mind. Lucario running a defensive spread? lol. Your Dragonite would perform much better if you replaced Dragon Dance with Roost, giving it good longevity to wallbreak later. Draco Meteor should also be used over Dragon Pulse for the raw power, but I guess Dragon Pulse is fine too for more consistant offense.

For Lucario, I think that the standard Agility set on site would work better than this one. The Agility set doesn't really need priority IMO since most people revenge Lucario with things like Scarf Flygon, Scarf Heatran, Gliscor, etc, and they wont be using priority for it. Special Lucario is also a bit meh cos of its inability to get past Bliss. If you insist on keeping it as a special set, then like what Alan said, at least run Close Combat along with 64 Atk EVs to OHKO Blissey. 252 Speed EVs and 192 Spatk EVs should be the rest of the spread, as it's generally a waste to invest in Luke's shitacular defenses.

Threat list

Defensive Threats

Blissey - lol. my seemingly special Dragonite makes quick work of her, as does Swampert, Jirachi, and Crobat

Bronzong - Dragonite says Fire Blast

Celebi - Crobat/Jirachi U-turn, Dragonite + Fire Blast, Lucario + Dark Pulse, if it switches in on Swampert with a sub up, Avalanche

Forretress - It usually gets a single layer up, though ill either OHKO it with Dnite or taint with Crobat

Gliscor - Swampert says Avalanche

Tentacruel - I have Thunderpunch on Jirachi just to say FUCK YOU BULKY WATERS. Toxic Spikes dont matter since Swampert is my only poke affected by them

Dusknoir - Annnoying. Trick it, U-turn a few times, then a Dark Pulse finishes it off

Gyarados - Jirachi + Tpunch, but i feel as though I'm missing out without a second electric attack on this team

Hippowdon - Send out Crobat, U-turn to Swampert to take the weak Stone Edge, and Avanlanche

Jirachi - Dnite + Fire Blast, Swampert +EQ

Rotom-A - loooool. Setup fodder for Lucario most of the time, though it can also be taken out by Swampert, and U-turned to near death

Skarmory - Fire Blast

Snorlax - Ooohh. Really annoying, curse sets are the worst. Though Dnite + Superpower + D Pulse should cover it

Suicune - Easiest sets to counter are resttalk and sub calm mind. Jirachi takes these no problem whatsoever

Swampert - Annoying, but 2 U-turns + HP Grass KOs it

Tyranitar - I dont care which one you are, You lose to my 2 U-turns + any attack from any poke. Owned

Vaporeon - FUCK YOU BULKY WATER. Thunderpunch

Zapdos - Swampert all day every day. Immune to Tbolt, resists Heat Wave, and doesnt normally carry HP Grass. set up a sub, and avalanche

Offensive Threats

Azelf - Easy. 2 U-turns KOs it. It is best to have Crobat U-turn it first, as that way it will use Psychic vs Jirachi. lol

Breloom - Annoying, but mostly seen and OHKOd in the lead spot. if it comes down to it, Crobat can sleep, and Dnite can laugh at it

Gengar - Weak Garbage. U-Turn from Crobat to Jirachi, then Iron Head hax for a hit or two

Gyarados - The only poke i have to counter this is Jirachi. Im really considering putting Tbolt back on Dnite in place of DDance for him

Heatran - Annoying, but taken care of by Swampert, Tentacruel

Dragonite - Oh my lord do I ever resist him with 2 steels. But i prefer to use him as a free sub setup for Swampert who Avalanches him to death

Aerodactyl- Dual U-tun between Crobat and Jirachi to resist the EdgeQuake it will throw at me

Infernape - Swampert says lol, and Crobat can revenge

Jolteon - I hate Jolteon, but Swampert usually has him

Ninjask - lol 4/6 pokes hit SE

Smeargle - Leads being the only set out there, Crobat Taunt + Brave Bird + U-Turn

Heracross - Crobat hits double SE, and Dnite resists both his STABs and fire blasts in return

Kingdra - D Pulse on Dnite Just for Kingdra

Lucario - Dnite resists almost everything and uses Fire Blast

Machamp - Crobat owns him, even outside of lead position

Magnezone - Will always get sent out at first sight of Jirachi, who always U-Turns first move. Therefore, I send in Dnite/Swampert

Mamoswine - Lol. Iron Head hax, or Aura Sphere

Metagross- Fuck you Metagross. Fire Blast

Electivire - laugh. Cant do Shit to Swampert, who OHKOs him

Flygon - Free subr for Swampert, if he stays in, OHKO with Avalanche

Togekiss - Annoying, but Tpunch takes er down

Weavile - Iron Head hax, Aura Sphere

Scizor - Choose a poke to resist the move he is about to use. Annoying, but i wear him down to nothing after awhile

Tyranitar - I dont care which one you are, You lose to my 2 U-turns + any attack from any poke. Owned

Starmie - Annoying, but Dual U-turn plus Dark Pulse is handy :)

Zapdos - wampert all day every day. Immune to Tbolt, resists Heat Wave, and doesnt normally carry HP Grass. set up a sub, and avalanche

Call me Crazy, but Tentacruel isnt seen much on this list. he needs to be replaced.

Give Lucario Close Combat imo so it isn't walled by Blissey. Also change around its EVs to be more Offensive. Its stupid giving such a frail pokemon such massive defensive investment on a clearly offensive set.

I gave Lucario Close Combat and 64 Atk Evs, as well as ditching the rest in speed. It seems like a waste to me though, since it hit 432 speed after an Agility before...

And the point of this Nite is to destroy physical walls. Dragon dance is there to fool them, as well as to raise my speed. After the enemy has decided the DD was a bluff, they usually actually send in a special wall, which gets OHKOd by Superpower. now, if you can suggest a suitable replacement for DD, then thats great. But this Nite has more special damage than Starmie and can hit from both ends of the spectrum, though primarily from the one I have less pokes that can hit with.

And although I have Gyara problems, putting HP Electric wont do anything without defense EVs, which ruins my set. Plus I would need a new Swampert Counter. If you wish to ask me to change something like that, please address the issues it would cause.

And If the pokemon don't do all they can do, then there are too many pokes that can counter you. It just doesnt make sense. And that is a defensive team. I am looking at an offensive leaning balanced team. These are not 6 wall-ish pokes. Far from it. I only have 2 tanks that can take hits (Jirachi's natural bulk is a byproduct of filling in a role i needed filled with the perfect poke). The other ones are a 2-Part lead. This can U-turn to weaken the entire other team, as well as picking off some possible threats. My Wall Breaker has natural bulk too, but is meant for Destroying walls. I fail to see any support yet in these three. Wow, weird. now for Lucario. Bulky? Supportive? What? I had the defensive EVs there so it could live long enough to pull off an agility to sweep. I'm now testing to see if it can pull of an agility without them or not. The reason my team seems bulky and can take a few hits is because I can always switch into an NVE attack. Something that only happens with teams that have decent synergy, which my team obviously doesn't have. And I'll never see any success, you're probably right. It made it through both testing periods with a total of 8/10 as wins. Seems like a failure to me

Sorry, I'll remember to put a "Don't pretend to know everything and try to change the entire theme of my team to some team you thought up of, which, by the way, is against RMT rules."
