TEAM BEAT IT! [OU]

INTRODUCTION
Hi all this is the second time i'm doing a rmt so i hope i dont screw it up =P. Usually i play with balance teams but for once i decided to try an offensive team that utilizes only one wall. I played with this team for a while and have achieved reasonable success, winning my share of matches. But my dream is to one day make it to the top 50 of the standard ladder and so im sure if i could get a second opinion on this team it would be good enough to get me there (gazes into the sky).

TEAM BEAT IT (in memory of the pop sensation that was Michael Jackson)

THE LEAD
metagross.png

BoomBoomPow (Metagross) @ Occa Berry
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 HP/236 Atk/12 Def/8 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Meteor Mash
- Bullet Punch
---
I almost never use another lead besides this guy, because its so good! Bullet punch is a surefire way to beat focus sashers. I sacrificed explosion to be able to pack meteor mash AND earthquake and in doing so i can have a way to kill off most common leads out there without sacrificing myself , but in doing that i cant do anything to seriously dent swampert. I stealth rock when i can but usually i give killing off the opponent's lead first priority.

THE WALLBREAKER
salamence.png

WyvernX (Salamence) (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 84 Atk/208 Spd/216 SAtk
Mild nature (+SAtk, -Def)
- Draco Meteor
- Earthquake
- Fire Blast
- Outrage
---
This guy's purpose in life is to to deal as much damage to the opponent as possible and usually takes out 2-3 pokes before bitting the dust. The best part is that it needs 0 turns of set up to deal massive damage. Being able to attack from both sides of the attacking spectrum really helps in taking out dedicated physical or special walls. Draco Meteor is a great move and can hit extremely hard right of the bat, the rest of the moves compliment each other nicely and are super effective against most of the metagame's top walls. The only criticism i can pin on this guy is the stealth rock weakness, which seriously limits the amount of switch ins this guy is capable of.

THE PHYSICAL BEATSTICK
kingdra.png

Hydra (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 24 HP/252 Atk/232 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Substitute
- Outrage
- Waterfall
- Dragon Dance
---
The physical sweeper in my team. This guy is capable of sweeping entire teams if given the chance, mid or late-game, since nothing resists Kingdra's two STAB moves besides Empoleon. Substitute is good on the switch or to protect against status, giving a few extra turns to DD. This guy can also take advantage of opposing rain dance teams. The only downside to this guy is that if the opponent sends in a water resist i'm forced to use outrage, and being locked onto the same move for 2-3 turns without being able to switch really hinders kingdra's ability to sweep, and the confusion dosen't help. If anyone could suggest another good set-up physical sweeper that has good synergy with this team i might consider switching it with this.

THE SPECIAL BEATSTICK
jolteon.png

ZapPuppy (Jolteon) (M) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Volt Absorb
EVs: 4 Def/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Grass]
- Shadow Ball
- Signal Beam
---
The special sweeper of the team. Thunderbolt backed by 523 special attack is going to hurt, especially when jolteon is fast enough to outrun most non-scarfed pokemon. I didnt run baton pass and used signal beam instead for a OHKO on celebi. I dont really see the point in running baton pass with nothing to pass when it can just switch normally. This guy usually sweeps late game when all electric resists are out of the picture.

THE CLEANER
scizor.png

DeathWing (Scizor) (M) @ Choice Band
Ability: Technician
EVs: 248 HP/252 Atk/8 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Bullet Punch
- Superpower
- U-turn
- Pursuit
---
We all know him, we all hate him, but he is just so good at his job tat its too hard to resist not using him in my team. This guy usually comes in on poke has been weakened by one of my other pokes and proceeds to maim it with a CB+technician+STAB+base 130 attack bullet punch. This is my answer to t-tar and frail psychics. This guy can even sweep by itself late game if all the opponent's sturdy pokemon have been taken care of.

THE GUARDIAN ANGEL
porygon2.png

AntiVirus (Porygon2) @ Leftovers
Ability: Trace
EVs: 252 HP/216 Def/40 SAtk
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Thunderbolt
- Recover
- Ice Beam
- Thunder Wave
---
A whole team of sweepers would give gyarados and salamence a field day, as i learned the hard way, and so i added this brave little guy to my team as an insurance against major threats such as dragon dancers and heatran. Being the only wall on my team, this guy usually takes over when a threat becomes too hard for my sweepers to deal with, bouncing off their own intimidates and flash fires back at them with trace. This guy can also spam thunder waves around really well, crippling fast sweepers like gengar and infernape looking to hit p2 with a close combat or focus blast. Recover gives this guy a means of healing itself and usually lasts a LONG time. The bolt-beam combination helps in taking down gyara and the dragons by scoring 4x hits on each of them. Definitely a staple on offensive teams.

CONCLUSION
Being the first real offensive team i have made i could really use some help. If you see anything wrong with this team feel free to point it out, preferably with a solution. I'm also thinking of joining the tutor program so if anyone can tell when the next round of the program is coming out i would appreciate it.

Lucario is a big threat if Salamence is dead or weak. It can sword dance on pursuits from scizor or hp grass for jolteon and ko most of the pokemon with sword dance or extreme speed. My suggestion to help with this is to change p2 into a scarfed rotom-h with over heat and discharge. Rotom-h can counter lucario if it doesnt switch in on crunch and can also help a bit with heatran and gyarados. Also p2 really doesn't fit well on most offensive teams.

Hello.

If you are going to use Outrage + Earthquake on Mixed Salamence then I suggest you use a Naive nature. However, I would really consider trying out Roost Naive Salamence. As of right now you have absolutely nothing that can handle Swords Dance Lucario. Along with a few Defense EVs your Salamence can be a relatively effective check to it as well as being a pain against stall which will really help, seeing as you have no immediate stall breaker.

Salamence (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 80 Def/176 Spd/252 SAtk
Naive nature (+Spd, -SDef)
- Brick Break
- Draco Meteor
- Flamethrower
- Roost

With Roost Salamence can also act as a more reliable ground immunity since it can actually heal itself.

Next off, a Timid nature on Jolteon is absolutely needed. Without it you will not be outspeeding Starmie, Weavile, or any other mons that stay in that speed range.

I kind of feel that Kingdra could be replaced by Gyarados. It would give you a secondary fighting resistance as well as a ground immunity. Bulky Gyara would work well with Taunt since it gets so many oppurtunities to switch in in the current metagame.

Gyarados (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 156 HP/108 Atk/100 Def/144 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Stone Edge
- Waterfall
- Taunt
- Dragon Dance

Gyarados is also an excellent fire resistance and can be a backup Lucario check.

Hope this helped!

Threat List:

Defensive Threats

Blissey: Scizor OHKOes with superpower, if blissey has eaten a draco meteor from salamence then outrage will finish it off.

Bronzong: Usually never see this outside leads anymore but salamence can fire blast levitate versions and eq the rare heatproof ones.

Celebi: Salamence FB. Scizor U-turn/pursuit. Jolteon Signal Beam.

Cresselia: Scizor is safe with U-Turn and Pursuit. Set up bait for kingdra. Jolteon can Shadow Ball.

Donphan: p2 can ice-beam it and shrug of EQ's like mozzie bites.

Dusknoir: Not really a threat to my team even though i cant OHKO it. Jolteon can shadow ball and dosent really mind a WoW.

Forretress: Salamence fire blast.

Gliscor: P2 can ice beam it and eat an EQ, hate toxic versions though.

Hippowdon: p2 can ice-beam and hope it outdamages slack off. Salamence can hit it hard with a Draco Meteor and finish off with outrage.

Jirachi: Dont really see them outside of leads and leads have to eat an EQ from metagross, who dosent mind a scarf.

Rotom-A: Quite annoying. Can be DMed by salamence and pursuited by scizor.

Skarmory: Slamence and Jolteon eat it for breakfast

Snorlax: This one is a bit difficult. I can dent it with scizor's superpower and i can finish it off while its resting.

Suicune: Jolteon has a field day with this guy.

Swampert: This guy is hard to take down but cant really do anything back to me. Since it lacks recovery outside of rest its usually easy to wear down. Usually scizor u-turns for some hefty damage and then switches to mence to take the EQ then finish it off with DM.

Tentacruel: Jolteon can 2HKO and salamence can OHKO with outrage and metagross can EQ. If it gets TS down it is annoying.

Tyranitar: Scizor justs murders this guy.

Vaporeon: Jolteon can Tbolt and sal can DM followed by EQ.

Zapdos: This guy is a pain but jolteon can wear it down with Tbolts and an immunity to electric.

Offensive Threats:

Azelf - Leads are owned by metagross. Nasty Plot versions have to eat a BP from scizor.

Breloom - Nothing in my team is slower than it except p2 and metagross so i usually attack to take it down before it can spore. Metagross dosent mind sleep and p2 will have to switch to sal to take a focus punch.

Dragonite - P2, for reasons stated above.

Dugtrio - LOL. Scizor, p2, it dosent matter, this guy is no way a threat to my team.

Electivire - Probably the biggest threat to my team if it pulls of a motor drive. Usually i try to intimidate with sal then switch to scizor to take the ice-punch, Kingdra is the only poke in my team that dosent take SE damage from it, HELP!

Gengar - Scizor! Metagross is another decent option.

Gyarados - P2, for reasons stated above.

Heatran - Also a threat to my team, scarf versions anyway. P2 can eat earth powers all day, but it cant really do anything back to it.

Heracross - Who uses him anyway? Scizor can OHKO with BP and sal can intimidate and FB.

Infernape - Jolteon outspeeds and OHKOes with tbolt.

Jolteon - P2 can trace volt absorb. Scizor does over 60% to it with BP.

Kingdra - Force it into an outrage then send out metagross or P2.

Lucario - Who can it set up against anyway? Sal can intimidate and OHKO with EQ. Scizor will finish off weakened ones.

Machamp - Can't really switch into anything really. but if it pulls off guts on p2's twave, it can be trouble. Jolteon can rip of a chunk with tbolt and scizor do about 50% to this guy.

Magnezone - If i see this guy on the opponent's team i will predict a switch on scizor and superpower. If it catches scizor on a BP then its pretty much dead. Other than that Sal can EQ and FB and Metagross can EQ.

Mamoswine - Scizor

Metagross - Sal can EQ. Jolt can Tbolt, just hit it with attacks and it will go down.

Porygon-Z - Scizor, p2 twave

Salamence - p2, for reasons stated above

Scizor - sal intimidate and FB. Jolt can Tbolt.

Starmie - Jolteon outspeeds and can Tbolt.

Togekiss - Jolteon again. Scizor can do alot with BP.

Weavile - Scizor, Metagross. Hate the random counter though.

Yanmega - Scizor and Metagross.

tnx for the suggestions guys. I'm not really sure about switching p2 because its such a reliable check to Gyara and friends, and taking out kingdra for gyara would give me 2 pokes weak to SR, which i dont really like. I like the salamence suggestion though, i guess that can act as my Lucario check, definitely will try that out, tnx again!

In my humble opinion, Rain Dance Kingdra is far superior to DDDra. RDDra takes less time to set up, plus it will cripple Fire types for five turns, as well as stop a foe's Sandstorm, possibly for good. The only negative is that Rain Dance will run out after five (eight) turns, so you would have to either switch by then or use RD again. The set would look like this:

Kingdra @ Leftovers/Life Orb/Damp Rock/Lum(Persim) Berry
Adamant Nature
28 HP/252 Atk/228 Spd
Swift Swim
-Rain Dance
-Waterfall
-Outrage
-Substitute/Yawn/Hydro Pump/Draco Meteor

Explanation:
Item: Lefties for recovery if you go with Substitute, otherwise LO is probably better. Damp Rock is if you really want the rain to last as long as it can. Either Berry would protect you from confusion once, so you could use one of those if you want.
Nature: If you are going to double your Speed anyway, Jolly nature seems a little redundant, so Adamant is the better option to maximize power.
EVs: Here you really have two options: #1) 28 HP/252 Atk/228 Spd. The Speed EVs will bring you to 263 Speed, which will allow you to outrun Timid ScarfGar in the rain. Max out Atk and then dump the rest in HP. #2) 92 HP/252 Atk/164 Spd. These Speed EVs bring you to 247 Speed, which will outrun a Naive/Jolly DDMence after one DD in the rain.
Ability: Not a tough one to figure out.
Moves: The first three are standard, the last slot will be up to your personal preference. Sub to avoid status, Yawn to force switches or cripple a threatening opponent (i.e. Empoleon), or you could run a powerful SAtk move to hit defensive walls. If you choose one of those two moves, go with Naughty or Lonely for your nature.

Like I said before, RDDra will stop Sandstorm teams dead in their tracks, especially if their lead was their only SS 'user'. RDDra will also benefit your team by essentially removing a Fire weakness from Metagross and reducing Scizor's Fire weakness to x2 instead of x4. If you want these two to be under the rain, go with a Damp Rock on Kingdra to maximize the length of the rain.

Otherwise a great team, I do notice a bit of a MixMence weakness, especially if it's running a Naive nature and therefore outspeeding your Mence. But P2 counters it, as will RDDra if it's already set up, so just make sure you know an opposing Mence is out of the picture before you let P2 die.
