Team for Platinum (When I get it)

Keep in mind that this team is going to actually be made for Wi-Fi battling, so please try to avoid suggesting legendaries and event pokemon. If it is necessary I will try my hardest to get one but...yeah. This team was made to be centered around SDing Weavile. I've tested it a bit, and right now on Shoddy its won half of its total 8 battles.

Ambipom w/ Life Orb
Technician
Jolly
252 Atk 4 Def 252 Spd
Fake Out
U-Turn
Double Hit
Taunt

I started thinking about what i needed to have on my team, and then I realized I didn't know how to choose the lead. I've never used this and have always thought it was cool, so I decided to use it. Mainly, it scouts for threats to Weavile.

Magmortar w/ Choice Scarf
Flame Body
Mild
44 Atk 216 SpAtk 248 Spd
Overheat
Cross Chop
Thunderbolt
HP Ice

I know Heatran probably does the job better, but I'm planning to actually use this team for Wi-Fi, In-game. So unless someone wants to trade me a good Heatran, I'm using this. Magmortar is used for taking out Steel types and random Scarfers that might ruin Weaviles fun.

dpmfa232.png

Donphan w/ Leftovers
Sturdy
Adamant
252 HP 252 Atk 4 Def
Earthquake
Seed Bomb
Rapid Spin
Knock Off

i was having trouble with electric moves and Stall Teams, so I put this guy. Electric immunity and Rapid Spin. Seed Bomb takes care of Swampert and co. I really need help with the EV's.

dpffa241.png

Miltank w/ Leftovers
Scrappy
Impish
212 HP 28 Atk 252 Def 16 Spd
Heal Bell
Milk Drink
Stealth Rock
Hammer Arm

This guy takes out T-waves that slow down Weavile. Also a Physical Wall and sets up SR. I've found Hammer Arm more usefal than Body Slam.

dpmfa134.png

Vaporeon w/ Leftovers
Water Absorb
Bold
252 HP 252 Def 4 SpDef
Wish
Surf
Toxic
HP Electric

Wish-Passer and a Special Wall (of sorts). The spread is to make it a bulky as possible.

Weavile w/ Expert Belt
Pressure
Jolly
40 HP 252 Atk 216 Spd
Sword Dance
Night Slash
Ice Shard
Brick Break

Standard SD Weavile. He is the center of my team, everyone is trying to make it possible for him to set up and sweep.

Evil Mod TAY/Tangerine is gonna come anytime soon because of this rule on RMTs. Make sure you fix this before they lock it.

3. Have some actual words in your post beyond your six Pokemon and their moves. Not following this makes your post quite boring to read and rate. All Pokemon should have a good reason for being in your team anyway, so why not post that reason? If you're having trouble with this one, start by giving an explanation for each team member. Why are they there? What role do they serve? How do you get them in? Then, give an explanation of how you would open with the team and how you would go about using it. All of these things help people rate your team and allow us to offer more helpful advice.

This does not mean add one sentence saying "Standard x" or "all-around awesome" after each Pokemon. If you put thought into making the team, you can put thought into posting it.

Hm...

For starters, your descriptions are not very in-depth, nor do you have much talk of threats or strategy.

Next comes the use of your sweeper. SD Weavile can pack quite a punch, but there are a couple things that need to be addressed for him to sweep:
1) Stealth rocks take off 25% and he has no resistances to other residual damage besides Hail. Having a Rapid Spinner is a must.
2) Dedicated Physical walls and Steel Types. Because Weavile lacks an amazing movepool (his best set of moves cap their base power at 75), he's going to need help against things that are Neutral to his attacks, especially Steels who aren't weak to fighting (Scizor, Forretress, Bronzong, Jirachi, Metagross, Skarmory). Especially dangerous is Scizor, who can use his priority super effective Bullet Punch to put a quick end to Weavile's sweep. To this end, I suggest adding a Magnezone of some kind to your team. Another thing that could help here is a Pokemon that is good for Baiting and KOing Physical walls, like a normally-Physical attacker with a Special Set. Good mentions here include SpecsMence and SpecsLucario. Specs Lucario is a good choice here because SD Lucario and SD Weavile share many of the same counters
3) Pokemon that outspeed Weavile. Not many of these besides Choice Scarfers and the odd Aerodactyl. Knock Off and Thunder Wave help to make this better. You already have a Knock Off user in Donphan, but I suggest getting a Thunder Wave user in there somewhere. Perhaps replace Miltank with Celebi, Blissey, or Dragonite, all of which can run Thunder Wave as well as Aromatherapy/Heal Bell.
4) Opposing Priority users. Look out for things like Lucario and Scizor, and try to trap and kill them earlier game. Again, having Magnezone here helps out greatly (though you need to be Scarf Magnezone to avoid eating a Close Combat when trying to trap Lucario).

The thing is, most of those pokemon have been rendered obsolete by changes to Platinum. Ambipom is outclassed as a lead by other things... well, not quite outclassed, but not as useful. Aerodactyl, Azelf and Metagross are generally top-choice leads, because they can give your team an advantage early-on, such as throwing up Stealth Rock or Screen support, then Explode/scout further. Aero can also Taunt anything not named Electrode and stop their lead giving the opponent the advantage.

Magmortar is pretty slow, and although you've given it a scarf, it's pretty much outclassed in the way you use it by Infernape.

Donphan is very much outclassed in general as both a Rapid Spinner and a Physical Wall. Tentacruel can oust Toxic Spikes just by switching in, and Forretress can set up any sort of entry hazard you want in retaliation. If you must use it, go with its bigger advantages, like Ice Shard. However, it's not too easy to fit in slow Spinners in the current metagame.

Miltank's job as a special wall is done better by Blissey, and that variant is not stopping any of the big physical sweepers of current OU like Scizor or Salamence. I'd say replace it with Snorlax.

If Vaporeon is a special wall... why does it have all those defensive EVs? Blissey is almost invariably described as the best Special Wall there is, and it can also pass Wishes around (but don't use it on the same team as Snorlax).

Weavile is also pretty obsolete in the current metagame. There are so many Scizors and Heatrans and god knows what else running around, and if they get in safely (no problem for Scizor) Weavile's 'sweep' will end before it started.

I cannot honestly believe you have tested this team and found it to suit your needs.

Donphan is my Rapid Spiner.

2) Dedicated Physical walls and Steel Types. Magmortar takes out both Steels and Physical Walls.

Thanks, I probably wont choose Celebi though. As for pokemon that outspeed Weavile, i think my scarfed Mogmortar does the job

4) Opposing Priority users. Look out for things like Lucario and Scizor, and try to trap and kill them earlier game. Again, having Magnezone here helps out greatly (though you need to be Scarf Magnezone to avoid eating a Close Combat when trying to trap Lucario).

What else can I use to combat oppposing priority users?

and as for bugmaniacbob, youre basically telling me all the pokes im using are outclassed? Miltank is not a Special Wall, he is a Physical Wall. Vaporeon doesnt need special def Ev's. He resists Flamethrower and Ice Beam, he is Immune to surf, and Shadow Ball and Psychic dont do much with the HP Ev's. the only things I have to deal with are thunderbolts which i have Donphan for. And im pretty sure there arent many Heatrans running around on Wi-Fi.

And sora13, thanks for the warning, but i dont know what else to put in the description. I think i put reasons as to why i have them in there. it just so happens that the reasons are relatively short.

I'm much less evil than TAY or Tangerine, but this still doesn't conform to rule 3. Fix it up.
